@Poisonnachos ''I wrote the song at a friend's house in New Jersey. I was pretty depressed at the time because our gear had just been stolen, and we had been thrown out of our manager's house for breaking shit and drinking his liquor cabinet dry. It's a suicide song, and we got a lot of flak for it, as if kids were killing themselves because of the song. But we also got hundreds of letters from kids telling us how they related to the song and that it made them feel better." - James Hetfield
Marty Shwartz.....you are AMAZING!! I have learned a LOT from you & I brag you up where ever I go!! Your advice is super helpful, you can slow it right down so that it's easy to follow & you are quick to point out bad habits that people can get into....I love you!! lol....there are a lot of guitar players in my family & they are amazed with the songs that I've learned off of you, (they seem to find it difficult to break out of the norm & learn some REALLY good songs like these)....so ya, I brag about you where ever I go!! You are one hell of an instructor...the best I've ever learned from thats for sure!! :-)
@dd22sharpshooter actually, if you look it up James Hetfield said that the lyrical from Fade to Black were a response to the bands amps being stolen, and among that he lost the first amp he ever owned in early 84. He said that it was kind of about having to rebuild what they had, and of course the amp had sentimental value to him. Its not about suicide, its about being able to pick up where you left off.
You probably won't see this, but thanks dude. You sir are a bauss. Your tutorials help me a lot. Keep up the good work please, amd btw dig the shirt man.
Hey Marty, great lesson. Could you please make a lesson on how to clean up an electric guitar, not only on the outside but also the electronics. Thank You!
