Aimee, this video has helped me more than any other video about the grip. I'm just learning to play and cannot afford lessons so I watch great teachers like you to help me learn about golf. You have helped me so much. Your instruction is clear and simple. Thank you, Aimee!
I love how you explain things. Concise and understandable. I just returned from a lesson. Most of my issues are a result of too strong of a left hand, which is closing the club face. You just explained the proper grip better than the guy I just gave $100 to! Thank you.
Must try it first thing in the morning. Showing the moderne n classical grip make it so much clearer. 🙏
I was not familiar with the modern grip so thank you for explaining it. I will try it for sure to help my swing but I’ll have to watch your video a few more times to make sure I do it how you explained it.
Tried it today while practicing on the driving range. Just a slight adjustment of the first placement on the twelve. It feels so in control! It helped immediately to make better ball contact. Good lesson at the right time for me. Thanks!
Having started mid eighties i actually never heard of the modern grip, but keen to try this out, so, thx for sharing and explaining 👍🏻
Hi Aimee! This is indeed the best lesson on ´how to grip the club´ i ever saw! I´m just trying it out. It feels bit wierd, but when i hit the ball... contact feels so much better/smoother? and the ballflight is much more straighter :) so thanks a lot, i love it! 🤩👍👍👍
Hello Aimee - this has been my biggest problem, and especially if I haven't played in a while. I have a tendency to pressure way to much on my right hand and turn it over. Time to relax and just take a second to think about this at every swing.
Thank you! Awesome and appreciate it!
Thank you Aimee. Great tutorial! Subscribed.
Thank you very much Aimee for this new way to hold the grip ! I’ll will exercice it for sure. By the way, I’d like to know if you have a video learning us where to place the ball relative to the chosen golf club. It will help for sure !!!!
Great tutorial, thanks for doing this. I've been getting more and more extreme in the "classic" grip and lots of forward lean at address and it's really hurt my game.
Subscribed. Great lesson. Absolutely great lesson.
Best grip lesson ever! Gracias Aimee!
Love the way you teach the different aspects of the game, making it easier to understand as well as fun 🤩😍🏌🏻
Wow! Great grip lesson.
Great video , very descriptive thank you
Aimee- your lessons are awesome & very helpful. Please tell me where you got that awesome looking practice net.
This is so helpful 😮I get dermatology calluses and my skin splits
Love it! Quite the refresher for your grip vids from years back. I'd also been using the ledbetter grip-grip mounted on a drumstick to help me form my grip. And then i adjusted for some core-dex aspects (really helps with aiming). THANKS! p.s. i broke 90 2 rounds ago!
Ooh! Congrats!!! That’s awesome 👏👏👏🥳
Helped a lot, thanks
The best grip lesson!
Crystal clear pronounciation I like .
Thanks!
Hi Amiee, so when you get into longer irons, hybrids, woods and driver, is the position of the hands (just left of your belly button) for all clubs the same, except that your width in your stance wider?
Hmmm, ill try that grip on Monday .. watch this space.. ⛳️
I think I have a pretty good consistent grip with my left hand (my glove hand), but I find my RIGHT HAND occasionally will slip into a stronger grip too, where the “V” of thumb & forefinger starts pointing to outside my right shoulder 🤷🏼♂️
Is this bad?
I then think the hands are complimenting themselves (both strong), and when I grip with the right hand more ON TOP, the hands feel like they’re fighting each other.
Can the right hand be a stronger grip as well?
hi should the left thumb right on top of grip (12 oclock) or should be slightly towards the right ?
Thanks for the tip, I feel like a struggle with a consistent grip. Does the butt end of the club move back and forth at address depending on the length of the club or does it always stay about 1/4" left of the bellybutton? Thanks!
Hi Camille, the but end would move sidgen forard if the club gets longer but nothing dramatic. A 7 iron butt end would be just left of your belly button, and work your way up to the driver being about half way between your belly button and the left hip bone. I hope this helps. Thanks so much!
I have a huge problem with turning my hands over so I am going to try this. My only question is can you still do the interlocking grip where the pinky and index lace?
I just saw you answered in another post, thank you for being so responsive!
Curious to check that out! Thanks Aimee! Haven’t seen much of your little French friend?
Hi Tom! How are you? He’s doing great 👍 He now has a big brother to hangout with. So, he doesn’t hang out with me as much 😭😂 I’ll plan something so he can be a part of my future vids ☺️
@@GolfWithAimee I also didn’t know how multi talented you are. Great voice!!!🤗 Very impressed!
With left thumb on top of the shaft this grip looks a little weak, no?
Hi Aimee, I'm Jorge and I'm writing to you from Argentina. I am 55 years old and I started playing golf at 45.ñ
I have tried to use the modern grip that you mention and it has helped me to improve quite a lot in this videp but when I achieved it I increased the angle of attack by 2 or 3 degrees and although I maintain the speed of the club and the speed of the ball that in the swing that I always did what you call classic, but obviously the greater angle of attack takes away my distance: about 10 to 15 yards in a 7 iron compared to my previous shots with the same suit but with more advanced hand position.
I sense that some part of your indications I cannot interpret or that grip and backswing are not for my biotronics.
If you have any idea of what I may be doing wrong to help me solve this problem and lower the angle of attack degrees.
Thanks a lot. JOrge
Hi George. Thanks for the question. When you say “increased the angle of attack” does that mean for example you started at -2° but now it’s +1 or 2°? Or did it go the other way? For an example if you started from -2°, then it went to -4°?
@@GolfWithAimee for example: PW with Classical grip 24 grades of Launch angle; modern grip 28 grades of launch angle. Or 7 iron: Classical grip 18 grades of launch angle; modern grip 20 grades of launch angle.
Looks like you're interlocking your right pinkie and left index finger rather than overlapping them. Why is interlocking better than overlapping in your professional opinion? Thx Aimee.
❤
Hello Aimee
How are you ? What’s up.

Damn…if I knew this 20 years ago. I might of been on TOUR! LOL still trying to break 80…sheesh!
I didn’t notice, did you have an overlapping grip or interlocking grip? Or does it matter?
It’s one’s preference. I overlap. I don’t think it matters much. I can’t interlock since my left picky hurts and it makes my grip pressure super tight. I hope this helps! 😃
@@GolfWithAimee Thanks Aimee. I use interlocking grip, have for years but now I’m noticing my right pinkie is slightly bent as a result.
Do you use thumbpad
Hi Aimee, I❤️Aimeefy. I learnt golf bak in 2000 and I start my grip with my three lower fingers from my pinky of my lead hand first, then place the base of my thumb on top(12 o’clock) hence I can literally pick up my club and cock and uncock with just that one hand. Next place my trail hand at 3 o’clock and form an interlocking grip and the lead hand forefingger locked like holding a trigger and inline with the club face so that I can “feel” the clubface direction with this forefingger. In general, my grip is somewhat neutral or slightly strong so the club face does tend to face a bit to the left of target (I am right handed). Am I gripping my club the old fashion way or modern?
Hi! Thanks for your question. It would all depend on whether you grip it in the fingers or the palm. After you take your left grip, let me know if you have a gap in the middle of your left palm. If the whole entire palm is touching the grip then you’re gripping it more in the palm. I hope this helps! Thanks 😊
@@GolfWithAimee I have a gap and holding using my last 3 fingers
Hmm, in your older video you make a big deal out of finger pressure, Is this still accurate with the modern grip?
From 8 years ago "A Secret to Perfect Grip" You said...
Only need 3 fingers to grip the club.
LEFT HAND: Pinky/palm, are the only pressure points in the LEFT hand. This allows for the best-relazed wrist (= speed)
RIGHT HAND: thumb and forefinger the most pressure. Armatures grip these 2 the weakest.
While I applaud your description and effort to explain grip and a lot I agree with your concept of the so called classical grip is incorrect... no instructor or professional has ever taught or played with the grip in the palm... it is the same grip you correctly explained but with the handle in a straight line with the left arm and with many good reasons... I'm a teaching professional myself and while I agree you can grip and position the club many ways successfully your explanation of why this is better is flawed because of this misconception... other than that some good info here.
Well your fairly uninformed yourself so because there are several teachers who teach the palm technique. Paul wilson is one that comes straight to mind . Hank haney also talks about it in his book .just because you haven't read or seen something doesn't mean it doesn't exist
May be you are too good or too tired, I can’t understand what you are trying to say, how the left hand #1 is on the 12o clock?????
You went over the grip method way way way way way too fast
