Actually the monarchy brings in way more money in terms of tourism and profits than they actually spend. All of their money is privately held, it's not spent out of the taxpayers pocket.

ticket receipts from the visitors that pay to visit Buckingham Palace are north of 1B quid. They are also a great tool of soft diplomacy, globally respected overseas and have been known to boost British exports. Besides which, it's not the greatest job to have no choice, no privacy, constantly guarding against scandal and fighting the press.

You say that, but he would still have to work with the same civil service and potential uprisings from the opposition benches and potentially even people within his own party. The PM gets a lot of flak, but part of being a good PM is being able to compromise in order to bring along people who don't agree with you just enough to actually get something done. That said, I think Nigel is actually not the hard-headed person people think he is and understands that ... but doing it in practice is another thing.

The only disappointment I have for Nigel is he hasn't defended Brexit strongly enough. No mention of the near 2 years COVID lock downs which caused inflation and destroyed the economy. No mention of the Russia Ukraine war which has caused food and energy prices to go up, no mention of the green energy agenda being forced on us which has also pushed the cost of energy and cost of living, all reducing our standard of living. No mention of the fact that the government has continued to allow uncontrolled mass immigration which has caused wage compression and house prices and rents to go up. Farage has made no effort to mention any of these factors.
I imagine he was just content enough to let the Tories own lockdown entirely
