    The biggest con I found in this book is that they never suspected Noelle in the beginning despite her being Ellie’s tutor before her disappearance! I also felt like it was predictable but what kept me anticipated is to how everyone in the book would react to finding out the truth…that’s the only reason I enjoyed it.

    I did enjoy the book but as with genre I find the early stages of the story more interesting than the reveal. I felt the story of Hannah and Theo should have been explored in more depth because Hannah did seem to be an interesting character. I liked your review. Well done. Regards from England.

      Thanks for the kind words and insight! I would have loved to learn and see more of Hannah and Theo too - would have been very interesting.

    Just finished it few hours ago. It was a good read. ***Spoiler ahead*** I loved laurel's character development and how she bonded with her children at the end. My heart broke for ellie. She was everything everyone wanted. The cruelty of this world tore her apart and gave away her pieces to other people (poppy to noelle/floyd/laurel, theo to hanna, laurel to her siblings). She left the world in a sad and lonely way. She was indeed a brilliant and brave girl.
    Tbh i kinda thought floyd would have been more evil lmao good for him tho. But i wanted more for ellie at the end. The whole plot was based on her disappearance and the end could have been better if we got some justice for her. Not with her known as "the girl who had a baby in the basement".

    I finished it a few minutes ago and I am head over heels in love with Laurel. It is an incredible character and the story is poignant, intricate and well-woven. It kinds of remind me of Lovely Bones for some reason.

    I love Lisa Jewel!!! This is probably my least favorite book I’ve read but the audiobook was rather amazing. The narrator really did do a super job. For anyone who liked this book read the family upstairs. It’s my absolute favorite Lisa Jewel book. I’m in the middle of The Girls in the Garden now it’s good.

      I teared up when the narrator read the last parts of the epilogue.

    you are so sweet not to give away any spoilers while still telling us how you really thought the book was. In ways it reminded me of the book "The Collector" by John Fowles a little bit. That is my favorite book. But it reads much more eloquent and leaves you with a more philosophical thought process on how the book applies to life. But I liked this book. 3.5 out of 5 is a good rating to stand on.

    I am reading this novel right now and this is my second Lisa Jewell novel after "The family upstairs", which was a delicious page turner. "And then she was gone" Too has the same flavor of dark characters who seem normal on the outside until the point their history meets their present. I have reached the point in this book where mystery has now started unravelling and I don't want to put it down, however I don't want this book to be over so soon as I am loving wondering bout what will unravel in my tomorrows reading session.

    I listened to this book as well . I also loved the narration . Narration to me is a big deal breaker . I have returned audible books because I hated the narration . Thank you for the nice review .

      The backdrop of this novel is London & the background story is of a family who’s daughter disappears seemingly without a trace. Hope that helps!

    Ok first of all, what kind of name is Floyd? What kinds of books do you think work better as audio books and which do you think work better in print?

    • @loganchristinacox
      @loganchristinacox  3 года назад

      I think memoirs, suspense, and thrillers are AMAZING as audiobooks and fictional books (such as fantasy and historical fiction) are best in print! ❤️

      I'm a male who just finished reading it hours ago, and I enjoyed it. I didn't like everything about it, but more good than bad, and with some of the bad it'd just be personal taste. As I'm listening and writing as the same time, I agree that "predictable" hit the nail on the head. There was a near twist teased with the mysterious 'T' but no...
