Star Wars (スター・ウォーズ ?) is an action game based on the 1977 film of the same name. It was released by Victor Interactive Software for the Family Computer in Japan on November 15, 1991 and by JVC for the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America in November 1991 and in Europe on March 26, 1992. An official mail order "Hint Book" was available for the game upon its release. Two versions for handheld game consoles were released. The Game Boy port was developed by NMS Software and published by Capcom and released shortly less than a year later in 1992. The Sega Game Gear port was developed by Tiertex Design Studios and published by U.S. Gold and released in 1993.A Master System

version was also released. The game was followed by a sequel, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. A counterpart of the game for the SNES, Super Star Wars was released as well. The object of the game is close to the storyline of A New Hope, where the user (playing Luke) has to pilot a landspeeder around Tatooine, collect R2-D2 from the Sandcrawler, Obi-Wan Kenobi from a cave, and Han Solo from the Mos Eisley bar, while fighting stormtroopers, sand people, and many other different enemy characters from the movies. After assembling all the characters, the user navigates the Millennium Falcon (in a first-person perspective) through an asteroid field to the Death Star the (shields for the Millennium Falcon to

withstand the asteroid field must also be collected in the Tatooine levels). Once arriving at the Death Star, the user is required to destroy the tractor beam generator, rescue Princess Leia from the detention block, then proceed to destroy the Death Star with the rebel fighters. The Sega Game Gear has a few exclusive levels. The first level is of Leia delivering the stolen plans to R2-D2. The speeder over world is replaced with three side scrolling levels through the desert for Luke to travel through on foot. Each character has different attributes. Han Solo and Leia can also be used to replace Luke in game play, but unlike Luke who has numerous lives, Han and Leia only have one life each. Obi-Wan Kenobi can resurrect Han Solo

or Princess Leia five times, you're even required to kill, and then resurrect them in the Sega Game Gear and Sega Master System versions, so that you may earn your last 10% completion points, in order to see the ending. R2-D2 can display a map of Death Star hallways. C-3PO can provide information on the current part of the game. Darth Vader makes his only appearance on the Game Over screen.Chewbacca does not make any appearance, but is mentioned in passing a few times. It is noted in the instruction manual that Chewie flies the Millennium Falcon if Han Solo dies. The player can walk through the wall and find some secret 1-Up inside the caves around Tatooine and the Speed-Blaster inside the very first cave.

You've just destroyed hours of my childhood in 34 minutes....
Hahahahahaha me too! I only get into death star...
Days more like.
Me too ahah
yep....so many hours....so many continues...until I ran out :(
@@raphaelstrevamajdalany5009 Furthest I ever got was the trash compactor.....i just watch this guy do something that literally made me scream in frustration within seconds.
Impressive. Most impressive.
Great work. I was playing this game 25 years ago and never managed to finish it.
+Slava W You're welcome, the whole experience was really fun ! It's amazing how fast time flies by and you don't even realize it. Glad that there is some love out there for the game of my youth.
25 Years? You're the fucking nerd
Slava W me too ahahahh,so difficult!
Well, how old do you think the NES is? @Papyrus the Skeleton
I love that there are "Exit" signs in the caves.
The Pixel art of the X-wings heading off to the Death Star is amazing. Really well done.
This is one of the best Star Wars video-games ever and only using 8 bits that is what I call real talent.
Are you kidding? This isn't even close to one of the best. This game is insanely difficult and the controls sure don't help anything. Plus you say this is one of the best when there's games like Rebel Assault, Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squadron, Knights of the Old Republic, The Force Unleashed, Battlefront, among others? This game is nowhere *NEAR* one of the best Star Wars games ever made.
YTWarrior100 calm down dear.
@@YTWarrior100 Remember what I said we're talking here about 8 bits, still is a great game, yeah it's difficult, games nowadays are easy.
@@Diggarci No it's *NOT.* The game is total crap. You're an absolute idiot if you actually think it's great.
@@YTWarrior100 Well I got 23 people thinking it's a good game, how much you got? Wich stars wars game in 8 bit era is better than this one? Insults are all you got.
I remember playing this a lot, I think I farmed the same caves over and over for sheilds and lives at the start.
great to see this game again, it took me weeks before I could run through like this and what an adrenaline rush! Masterful programming, my favourite Star Wars game ever!
Man... I tought that I knew this game completely... and then, you showed me that that exist a secret passage at the Death Star final area...
Also, like you did, I always played the game with Han from the Cantina onwards. He's more resistent to damage than Luke.
Ditto about the Secret Passage
Never knew about that secret passage either and I’ve been playing this game for years and years now
I remember this from when I was growing up,I love this game! A childhood classic!!I have this game for the GameGear as well, and growing up I remember how difficult and how hard it was.
***** The namcot version is known for having things that are inconsistent with the series. For example, Luke Skywalker has blond hair in the cutscenes but in the gameplay he has black hair. Darth Vader also turns into a scorpion.

15:00 Imagine if everyone in the whole Star Wars universe had to do crazy acrobatics and parkour first to get aboard their ships like this.
It seriously feels like Chip n' Dale logic. The logic being, kids relate to tiny sprites in oversized worlds. Or maybe the NES can't handle big sprites without having stutter issues.
Watching this gave me anxiety, lol. The mazes, the memorization, the damn flying segments. In retrospect I'm glad I never made it past the asteroid field (I don't think I knew you had to collect shields...), as that Death Star elevator clusterfuck would have driven me completely insane.
How could they have unleashed this game on children, those monsters?
Man, what memories! Remember playing this side by side with my Dad when I was like 7 or so! Really appreciate you posting this!
Ah, I wonder if I might have gotten further in this game if *someone* had explained that the "shoot" button was *also* a "run" button...
+neildKoR It must have been a painful experience to play the game like this lol
Looking at the rest of this video, I can safely say that no, I would not have done any better.
+neildKoR It's very understandable, the game is hard but also rewarding once you understand the mechanics.
It's in the manual
@@adrian53080 That slight nostalgic feel when thinking back of these little booklets that explained the game and gave you little hints here and there. The really good ones were not only sufficiently explanatory and well written for kids to be understandable but also colorful and had a good sense of humor. Good times.
The playthrough further strengthens my love for 8 bit music
I played this as a child and learnt to curse at an early age as a result, I believe congratulations are in order! Superb work my friend.
+Simon McNeair Thanks for the positive feedback about my star wars run Simon ! Game is hard but also well developed.
Wow. Twenty five plus years later...I see why I couldn't even get the darned Falcon off the ground as a young kid renting an NES and this game. This game is just hard. Nintendo hard. I'd probably struggle to do it halfway well even as an adult now. (P.S. OTOH, this guy makes it look easy.)
nostalgia trip. wow, this game cost a lot of money for it's time and I loved it
Love this. A really difficult game, it was so slippery!
Well said, "slippery" nails it perfectly. Very tough, unforgiving. I remember the first time or two making it all the way to the Death Star only to die in the trenches. Alas, rebooted the game a day or two later, battled through, and won!!! Did it two or three times in the early 90s!
Now this was a game!! Very creative, I always found the millennium falcon bit very difficult.
The 8-bit Star Wars sound intro always gets me shivers
25:05 - Leia can make that jump, just sayin'... although Han took it like a champ. I remember those falls hurting way more!
25:19 - my jaw dropped! A secret area?? I learned something today!
Well done!
I fucking LOVED this game. And I've beaten it as a Child without knowing the English language. Just like Gargoyle's Quest on Gameboy, one of my big childhood achievements....
Oh my god... Thank you for putting this up! "No Death" no less, ugh, can't really say I can relate to that one though, haha... Anyway, just thought of searching for something Star Wars NES on youtube from an old memory that hit me, and ended up watching the whole thing! The NES and SNES games were important parts of me and my friends' Star Wars consciousness growing up in the early 90s. These games have been replaced with more advanced movie-like installments in later days but the 8 bit origins in combination with the movies and imaginative conversations really were something special at the time. I love the music and sounds in these early games. Anyway, thanks again.
I couldn't beat this as a kid. Now on my second night trying to bea it I did it!
The stage which starts here at 27:17 is crazy. It didn't seem to end.
The plot developments were so blunt, not even the slightest mention of Obi Wan dying XD
True, i would have love to see that scene because Vader stepping on the empty robes is one of my favorite part...
I beat this game at 3am on a school night. traded it to a friend and never looked back. I dont think i'll ever be as good as games as when I was in middle school.
Fantastic run of Jvc Stars Wars!Love this game so much.Bought this game in 1994 at my local store.
Han blaster will do more damage than anyone else's and he can take more damage than everyone else. You must use Han sparingly, as he cannot collect extra lives.Obi-Wan Kenobi is the key to getting the Lightsaber and to using the Force to bring Han and Leia back to life. You should use Luke more than any other character since he can build up extra lives...up to 7.Luke is the only character that can use the Light Saber.Go to C-3PO on the Select screen if you need advice.R2-D2 can regenerate your shields on the X-Wing.He's also able to tap the Imperial Computer Network on the Death Star and show you layouts of the two hallways. He will also convince old Ben to join your party.
Heroes of Xanadu - Sloth Don't fall too far in Star Wars. If you fall too far, you will sustain damage upon landing. The only exception is when you come out of a Vacuum Tube no matter how high you go in the air you will always land safely (unless you are landing in spikes or acid or on an enemy.
Red Falcon Good fact ... First-person flying has fair enough controls, and the menu system is easily navigable. For maximum effect in the Vacuum Tubes, found throughout the Death Star and certain areas of Tatooine, hold the UP button.
+Heroes of Xanadu - Sloth Nice tip! That I didn't know yet :)
*The Movie:* Chewie doesn't get a medal
*The Game:* Chewie isn't even on the stage
Endless hours of this in the back seat of the Dodge Caravan on the Game Boy and I could never beat this game...Thanks for redeeming my childhood failures.
I didnt even know there was a Star Wars game for the NES until today when I found this :)
Glad i could help you find some new games :D
Yeah and its the best star wars game by far.
My very first game. My dad ( Led Zepellin fan ) went crazy with music 4 hours/day.
i had this on my game boy
so difficult!
+fortu392 The game boy version must be different i guess.
its pretty much the same but the lack of color makes everything kind of blend together and for some reason the view is not as big so a lot of the time you jump and you don't see the platform your jumping to and some of the enemies attack pattern like the sand people for example makes them wait for you right outside of the view so you cant shoot them from a distance. and the guns definitely don't shoot as fast. also if you play on the original game boy you get an insane amount of motion blur.
so you add all these things together and you end up with a game that is significantly harder
That was one tough game. My half brother had it, before I ever knew what Star Wars was
fortu392 I owned this game too on Gameboy, after I completed the game I sold it to two boys.
Is that Boba Fett at Mos Eisley? 14:23 minutes?
Puxa! Obrigada por relembrar minha infância!!! Lembro o quanto era difícil passar de fase! Nunca consegui chegar até o fim! Sempre travava na fase dos meteoros na nave!
Percebi que algumas fases estão fora de ordem no seu vídeo!
Obrigada!
+Gisele Galli You're welcome ! The game is very hard but also very rewarding once you master the basic mechanics and get the optional help found mostly inside of the caves of tatooine. My biggest mistake while recording the game was to completely forget about princess Leia. She should have been shown in the run.
+Gisele Galli Seja bem-vindo !
+Heroes of Xanadu - Sloth ok Thank's!
Contrary to popular belief, Nintendo was not made for kids. It was made for freaking video game gods. I can't imagine how many times you'd have to play this game to have it memorized so well. I remember trying to get to the millennium falcon with half a life left, and failing. That was my last time playing this game, and probably the fifth time renting it.
+chzzyg269 The arcade was the main thing at the time and games were made to empty gamers pockets with any tricks that the developers could find and since the nes was created in that spirit, in that exact era in history, they brought most of the madness and difficulty to the home system until they start to adjust the difficulty with the snes and others home systems that were created after. A lot of the game on the nes are port of the arcade so it all make sense when you think about it.
+chzzyg269 I like insane challenge, one of the reasons why the nes is my favorite system.
Remembering where the princess was...
first time i completed this I don't think I even had the light sabre. after the initial learning curve it wasn't so hard. The first time that falcon took off :) so many good moments. epic for a little 8 bit game
I remember as a kid not knowing a single thing I was doing. Also not knowing much about Star Wars, still don't. All I remember is struggling on the conveyer belt and jamming out to the cantina theme.
I have to admit the dogfight in the penultimate stage is actually kind of impressive.
I never got to see it when I was a kid, though, I could never get off Tattooine.
Man! Those basic enemies take A LOT of hits!
Yeah and some of them are located right in the beginning on tatooine...
I have a cartridge for this game
It took me years just to finish the game. Completing it with no deaths is wild!
i had nes back in the days.. but never saw or played this game, it seems so damn hard , but hardcore fans of star wars must have played for thousands of hours
The music is top notch
32:50 You thought Chewie not getting a medal was bad?? Guess what? Now, he's not even there!!
I played this on the GameBoy version and I knew nothing about Star Wars back then, and the way the game set up made it feel like a sci fi space horror game because of the weird imagries, the cave monster enemies, and the fact that Darth Vader's mask looks like a fucking skull and you see it everything you die. Also, the music when you go into caves, fucking what the fuck is that, does not make you think sci fi fantasy at all.
This game was so frustrating as a kid. So hard to play for that time with your sweaty hands holding and shaking that stupid controller haha. I been to the last part where you fly that ship and always crashed against walls and such. So annoying. Thank you for sharing and giving memories back.
Oh the MEMORIES!
Loved watching this. I could never get past the meteor bit. The shooting Tie-Fighter bit looks great, I missed out 👍🏻
Multiple game play modes, right up there with bayou Billy
One of my favorite childhood games , but boy that was some slippery platforming . Really tested your platforming skills
For NES, this game looks pretty good, graphically.
gg dude :) i spent hours in this game in my childhood but with patience i finaly beat it ^^
Those bloody lifts I always got lost
This Star Wars game I ever played
One of the most frustrating games I've ever played. Just getting off Tatooine took skills
Ha, yes!
Though i loved this game as a child and spend many weeks on it, i never managed it to beat the game.
Loved this game as a kid
I never got out of the caves as a kid. I had no idea what I was doing and if I remember correctly the controls were like ice. Maybe with save states I can try this again
I never got past the asteroid stage as a kid. Never figured out the trick to dodging them and watching this video, I still can't figure it out 😅
I still have the Game Boy version of this. I've never made it past the Death Star.
It always takes me about an hour to get end of the game and then me fingers would be very sore
I didn’t know there were 2 shields in the hanger but you’re able to acquire a total of 8 on Tatooine. Do you just have to go into one of the caves twice if you want to collect all 8 or is there another one somewhere else? And what the hell can you kill that thing in the trash compactor with either Han or Luke’s gun in the Game Boy version? My brothers and I broke our backs trying to get past that level on Game Boy but we couldn’t until we finally found the light saber in Obi Wan’s cave.
I only got as far as the Death Star. I spent hours trying not to die.
I liked this game a lot even though it's difficult. Nice to see how others have played it and nice to see that others liked it as well. I hear quite some people say that this is a bad game. I made a walkthrough of it as well, it was fun to do. I think the hardest part in the game is probably the last part, in the death star.. but then I played this game so often that I could play it with my eyes closed!
You were fantastic. I enjoyed playing the game when I was a kid, but I had so many problems getting killed by the enemies shooting their blasters at my legs. Just jumping over the shots didn't seem to work well for me, but you figured out ways to avoid getting hit so much. You were really impressive.
Sound track is amazing retro
Has anyone else noticed that there is a distinct similarity between the music when you're in the caves and the sandcrawler, and the get swifty music in rick and morty? it's there just listen.
I'm disappointed that you didn't play as Princess Leia; I found her better jumping ability necessary to get through the _Death Star_ hangar escape level. The hardest level for me is defending the _Millennium Falcon_ from TIE Fighters after the escape, because you can't maneuver and have to deal with whatever is thrown at you; I was only able to beat it after I learned by accident that you can destroy incoming enemy projectiles. I had a lot of fun dogfighting in the X-Wing after that though. On my first Trench Run, I very nearly overshot the exhaust port and only barely managed to launch the torpedo at the last moment! XD
This game is actually pretty impressive
That was a crazy wallpaper in the beginning. holy heck
Thanks you very much. I made it myself. Took me a while to do it.
Agreed. I pushed pause to see how many games I could pick out. lol
10:29 why no lightsaber?
Cool video, this looks like a fun game. Let me give this a OMG WHY IS THIS SO INSANELY HARD
Awesome. Back in the day the only thing that could motivate me to beat a tough 8bit platformer was the SW branding. Ground this game into dust

I remember getting this game Christmas of "91😀👍🎄
As a kid I could get as far as escaping the Death Star against the TIE fighters. I also had a lot of trouble in Death Star against those spikes. Never beat this game.

Star wars on the Nintendo is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
This game scared me and I couldn’t finish it.
I had the game boy version of this game. It was hard as hell.
Despite games like this being out shined by moderne graphics. These starwars games are far more creative then today's games. All I can finde on the eshop are lego or pinball. I want these sort of imaginative games again.
Lego Star Wars is acutally good action adventure game where you can play as lots of characters and it's also very creative.
Seriously, you're missing out a lot. Skywalker Saga is basically ULTIMATE Star Wars Movie-Based game. It's just has Lego-style characters.
@@KeyleeTamirian I wasn't trying to make lego Star Wars sound bad. I just wish we had a wider veriety of Star Wars games. I remember rogue squadron' shadows of the empire and bounty hunter. I wish that sort of veriety in games existed again.
@@KeyleeTamirian I have ben hesitant to buy lego video games cause I just want a game like star wars or something in lego form but no puzzle solving requiring something like combining certian bricks. if the building itselfe is atomatic and it just requires colecting bricks as resorces like the ds lego battles game I'm fine but some games like super heroes require using diferent charecters to progress or backtrack with diferdnt abillities and with so manny charecters that is more complicated then I want in a game.
@@TheOmegazerox Actually it's rather simple, and Skywalker Saga, from what i heard, is more action-like with it's story, while puzzle elements are moslty for free play and collecting.
And... it's not that complicated. Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 has some OP characters like Thanos who is the easiest to fight with and to solve puzzles with as well.
@@KeyleeTamirian Glad to hear that. I was sort of woried about the puzzle based elements based on a few other videos of lego games. I just wasn't positive I would like these lego games so I just stuck with what I did like till I could learn more.
That's incredible
got this for christmas 91, a great fucking game
Could never get past the asteroid field
Luke is look alike his father Anakin when he was 10 in Phantom menace
i like that really good video !
identical game at the version gameboy !
30 year face palm missing the "hidden" sections in the caves on Tantooine🤣🤣🤣
This was a fucking hard ass game.
good times, thank you
I like the video intro collage.
I never came past the asteroid-stage
More challenge you say? Hmm.. upside down play, you must.
I wonder why they didn't give a special ending or something when you've done a 100% completion?
