It’s so true. Interns work like crazy and are expected to be in the hospital for 36 hours straight ! Even if you have done a night duty there is no excuse ! UK work regulations feels like luxury for Indians 🥺
yep I used to work 12 hrs eventhough I had to work just 8 hours in a private hospital because of the shortage of duty doctors ,I did not even get paid for extra hours!!! did not have holidays not even on sunday!! and I could take just 1 half day off in an entire year and I was already getting a frown from the consultant just for that eventhough I loved to work i felt frustrated and felt I was taken for granted
Hello guys, could you please shed more light on EDIC? I'm planning to pursue it & there aren't many reliable resources. It would be wonderful if you covered it.
Hey, thanks for all the information but can you cover the 1:4 or 1:11 rotas? I couldn't understand what they meant. I see usually 1:8 on call rota and I just saw a 1:29 full shift rota? What do those mean? Thanks again.
Only yesterday on the news I saw an NHS doctor say she finished her shift at 11pm and had to be back to work the next morning by 7am. There’s no 11 hour gap there between shifts.
There are rules in place to report such incidents and exception report to ensure you stay compliant. We have used them many times to get hours and/or pay back. Failure to do so on part of an individual does not mean there is no recourse.
I have been doing a shift work as engineer, and must admit a 12hr shift pattern with 4days on, 6 days off, 4 nights on, 4 days off, 3day+3nights on & 4 days off and than restart again. This pattern gives good balance. This eight hour shift pattern is horrible.😮
Sorry, but I can’t fully understand If I finished my shifts in a nhs job which took me up to 48 hours per week , Did I have maximum up to 20 hours per week for work as locum as an img on visa tier 2 ?? That’s mean total working hours per week 68 hours ( 48 hours as maximum hours for main job + 20 hours limit for visa tier 2 )
Not necessarily. It's down to ensuring you ask early enough and being cognizant of what others have asked for during that time. We've done it and others have as well.
Hello Ibreez! While working as a junior dr., can I practice aesthetics during my days off? Like I am a good at aesthetics and currently are performing such procedures in my home country! It only takes 20 to 30 mins to perform a procedure and it is well payed. Thank you so much!
@@RoadToUK I really want to work in the UK once I complete my house officer job, work life balance is so much better and it's a much healthier option. Too much of toxicity in the way things are run over here. The self doubt and fear you have walking into work isn't going to benefit anyone.
Many people say that night duty, on calls , weekends days have give more hourly wage... If my duty is 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.. Then if my night shift is available on Tuesday or Wednesday from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM.. So, on tuesday or wednesday I have to skip regular shift or i have to do both regular shift from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and after 3 hours from 8:00 pm we have to do night shift? Is this night shift give more hourly wage?
Question for work schedule for A&E. If your contract say 40 hours per week, but with this schedule in 1st week I can see shift is 9 hours long so per week it become 45 hours .. can we get paid extra for 5 hours which we will be above 40 hours..

Over the years every worker has had a "wage cut" because wage rises that are below inflation .........so why do the doctors think they are a special case and should have their salaries restored ???????????
I wish I had a 48 hour work as a US resident
Come to the dark side 😉
your style of speaking is pleasantly very articulate and would be great as a med school teacher
That's so nice of you to say!
This clarified many questions I had. Excellent video as always!
Glad to hear that :)
The people who say that the working hours in the UK are long clearly have never worked in India.
🤣🤣
True

I got to know that Plab 1 and Plab 2 dates are not available for 1 year respectively for IMGs !! Is it true ? Can you please check if this is true ?
Omg, is this true?
No this is not true.

The 20 hour limit is only if you locum in another hospital (not the one you're employed in).

very informative and interesting edits!

You have a set rota pattern as shown in the video. You can't skip your contracted work.
I have a question!! can i will be able to do other part time jobs while working on NHS?
Not on a work visa as it states you can only do the work that is mentioned for the visa itself
What about dependent visa?
Excellent 👌👌👌👌 information
Thanks a lot!
thanks a lot for ur videos. i have a question
what should we do for friday pray? is it permited to leave about two hours for pray?
You are allowed breaks. Breaks are half an hour long. Many hospitals have jumuah prayer facilities but they do not require 2 hours of your time.

How many months vacation can a doctor in the NHS can get?
At the minimum, it's 27 days in a year.
Hi , could u pls guide me regarding non resident on call mean, what would the pay be and hours of work in a week be like
It would depend on your level and the specialty.
Working in NHS as a junior doctor
How locum hours can a doctor work practically ???
Pls reply
Depends on your work schedule.
With exception reporting - how do the rota people not know there is understaffing?
It can be that someone has called in sick that morning, leaving a gap.
These working hours and shifts ( example acute medicine ) are for resident junior doctors? , or are they for consultant?
These are not for consultants.
@@RoadToUK appreciate your reply . Thanks!!
After clearing plab and getting my gmc registration, can I come to uk after two years? As in, not immediately after the registration?
Please reply
Yes but you need to pay to keep the registration valid and do yearly appraisals if you want the license to be valid as well.
Awesome💎💛🌟
Thanks 🤗

For core training in internal medicine core training, how many hours a day?
Contractually it would not matter what your role is- it has to follow the legal agreement.
