    It is so much different in Europe compared to US. I live in Finland, and you do not get this advantage of Supercharges. We simply dont have them so much. Also Model X is starting at 105K EUR compared to 90K EV9 GT-Line fully loaded 😳. Model X was in my shortlist. But there were no pros compared to EV9. More EV9 won in every category (unless you need Netflix). In Finland Teslas self-drive is not working (and in winter every car here is blind). Went and bought EV9 GT-Line 6 seater relax 1st edition. Taking deliver on 01.02.24 (in 2 days) and can't be more happy.

      That is a very old Tesla he's using, the model Y and 3 or new S/X are much snappier and landscape is better than portrait screen in my opinion.
      I can understand someone needing the large vehicle, but I feel like too many people overlook the Model Y 6 seat option, thinking it's small because it's a crossover. Compared to most cars in Europe, it is enormous, especially on the inside. The sub trunk is 100L.

      You wógonna regret is, software is shet, also chargers are very unreliable compared to a Tesla.

      @MrCristopher99 well, not in Finland where I live. There is only one Supercharger in the capital area (across almost 10 cities). Like said, it is so much different in many countries. In Finland reality is so much different. Picked up my EV9 today, and no single regret. It is simply perfect

      @@bond_andrew Glad you Enjoy it, yeah i see its a little sparse, we are getting populated here in Hungary, we have many more voted as well. Would love to see Finland once with my Tesla tho! Where do you live?

      @MrCristopher99 don't get me wrong, I'm not against Tesla. At the end, only thanks to Tesla we have electric cars! I live in Espoo, which is part of the Capital Area. You are very much welcome! But choose June or July, it is pretty cold now (-22 right now, feels like -30) ☺️.
      My colleague bought Model Y few months ago, and he can't be more happy! Never been KIA fan (not addicted to any particular brand). However, EV9 is simply my car. 🤷‍♂️

    Nice overview! I'm not far away in RI. Our ioniq 5 has had 2 significant route planning updates since we got it 15 months ago....the EV 9 is slightly better with manual preconditioning, but otherwise similar. Still clunky but getting better. I think it will get close to tesla soon.
    Also, in Android auto you can search for chargers along your route. It's not integrated with the car but you do get availability and food etc for each stop.

    Great idea for a video and well filmed! I have a MYP22 and my wife is looking at a Kia EV9 or Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I like your comparison of the EV9 and Tesla navigation and charging. We want a bigger family vehicle for family trips so need to know how the trips work.

    Thank you so much for this video. I just test drove the EV9 and the sales person at the dealer said that it didn't add the EV charging stops automatically. Perhaps you need that data program? I was able to look for them but it didn't show the SOC at arrival, how long to stay, etc.

    • @mattscinto

      If you use the built-in navigation, then it will add the charging stops for you. Just make sure it’s adding level three charging and not level two.

    Another useful video. Thank you for posting these; we have an EV9 Wind reservation, so it is really interesting to get your impressions.
    One question (maybe a dumb one). Because you are in Massachusetts, I assume that Kia Connect is disabled on your car. I had understood that also means that the car's cellular and wifi radios are disabled, so that---for example---OTA navigation updates are unavailable. If that is the case, how is the Kia navigation system giving you real-time updates on whether chargers are occupied?

      Got it. Definitely curious to know what happens, because I had been led to believe that in Mass. Kia basically shuts all connectivity off before delivering the car to a dealer....

    It’s all just a hard sell to a Tesla owner who is used to all that ‘just working’. I love the size, but the map integration and the small screen is a big compromise.

      I agree but also realize not everyone wants a Tesla and/or wants a big 3 row electric SUV. At least for my use the Model S is my daily and EV9 will be my wifes car and what we use as a family.

    Does the Wind AWD version come has driver profile memory seat? Their trim comparison showing it not available on the Wind trim at all. A 65k suv without driver seats and mirror memory is crazy. Also are you able to setup your phone as key like Tesla?

      I didn’t really do a good comparison as I ran numbers with the EV9 under 40% and the Tesla over 70%. I think the EV9 will be faster given its double the charge rate.

    Wow, so the Kia routing, ALWAYS charges you to your preset charge limit eg 80%, or 100%, not just what you need to make next charger?! yuck! Very inefficient trip planning, probably overkill/too-long stops. Sigh. and, you can't get live data/telematics from Kia to ABRP? Bummer, that would be best solution w/ CarPlay.. very glad it at least has some live data from EA, for what good it is, given their state reporting is so bad..
    Agreed @7:00 that sometimes Tesla route planning is bit conservative re arrival SoC%, and sometimes plans you to stop longer (but fewer) times, but... at least it intelligently only has you charge enough, to make the next planned charger.
    Instead of cancelling the whole route and manually setting each supercharger as destination, one at a time, if I prefer to hit a specific supercharger, I will just tap it and select "add stop" to force the trip planner there. It's not perfect, but...
    Tesla sure has all of this charing and trip planning nailed & executed very well, like everything they do esp. in software!

    • @mattscinto
      @mattscinto  7 месяцев назад +1

    The little fact that the default DC limit is set to 100% makes you wonder if any human actually tested this stuff?
    It's one thing to be inferior, there is always ways to improve... But do they care?

    • @growiel
      @growiel 7 месяцев назад

      If it works like the Ioniq 5, it will plan to charge to whatever your DC charging limit is set at.
      Not the most flexible but with the speeds this cat gets, charging to less than 80% makes little sense.
      By the time you get out to pee and come back, the car will most likely be waiting for your.
