While my husband was dying, his friends, colleagues and students would say 'I wish there was something I could do for you.’ His answer was consistently, “What you can do for me is to stay connected to the people in your life, and love the people you’re connected to.” Best advice. Miss him.
Literally just quit my management job of 4 years last week after getting really sick 3 times back to back from working overtime for the past year straight. Best decision ever.
I very reluctantly called in sick after my third bout of ocular migraine in a month. I was waiting for my doctor’s appointment when I came across this video. Thank you for the reminder that we should take care of our health.
I get ocular migraines as well and stress, along with not taking good care of yourself will definitely trigger them. For me, the more stressed I am, the more intense my "floaties" are. Do what you can to avoid the stress...I try to have a good laugh everyday.
"Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" It's Dr Suess so like a little bit cheesy but it's true. Be yourself and then surrounded yourself with people who understand, support and love you ❤️
I honestly cried after watching this because it resonated so deeply . . . I honestly NEEDED to hear right at this moment. Thank you. Time to take some time off. See ya, Bestie!
Hello Vivian! The best piece of life advice I've ever gotten was 1. Don't use people. *my mom told me that at a young age* 2. Trust no one. A boy who had ghosted me told me that right before he ghosted me. Thanks for all the great advice. Can you please do a show about college debt and how you can get back into school after you debt was sold.
I’m the only one guaranteed to be there when I die. I am very selfish with my time, punctuality and private stuff. Thanks to Vivian for being a cheerful life coach who is still in an aggressive growth year but who advocates tax & investment strategies in a constructive way. For parents, I really think early childhood activities have benefitted me over my lifetime. My family is bi-lingual, (or tri-lingual if you include Hawaiian Pidgin, but most of us can code-switch depending on the audience & setting). Love who you love, please donate blood if you can, reduce your carbon footprint and don’t do things you’ll regret.
I've been there as a business owner for 10 years. You can do it for a while, but then your mind and body will break down. You then learn more about mental health and trying to take care of both.
Thank you so much for this reminder. I used to feel guilty for taking time out for myself, as a Mum, a wife, sister, daughter, worker but my Dad told me the same thing when I got sick and had to take time out for 3 weeks from work for burnout. There is only one you and you are responsible for taking care of you. Self love is the best love you could have in your love repertoire. Thanks Vivian for having such great holistic content in your videos. I'm in Sydney, but your content is universal and absolutely love it 💖
Interesting video! It's important to identify our most valuable asset and learn how to make the most of it. Looking forward to applying these millionaire life advice to my own life.
Thank you so much for this video Vivian. I was just talking earlier with my supervisor (who is an amazing and supportive human being) about burnt out and needing to create a different strategy for myself. As a mental health therapist this message is priceless. Of course, it also applies to me!
Thanks for being my friend. I'm trying to think about life advice I've gotten. "You are enough. You have to like yourself bc you have to live with yourself. It doesn't matter what everyone else is doing. If it doesn't feel right to you then DON'T do it. TRUST your gut. If your guts are telling you to run then do it! Don't judge a situation by how cool everyone thinks it is. Listen to yourself. 'Am I doing the right thing?'"
Thank you so much for this! I’ve been at a job that budgets our assignments, tracks our time, and requires 65% of the time to be spent on those assignments. I’m happy to be leaving soon but while I was there I fell into this abyss where I would be constantly under pressure and working 10-14 hrs just to meet my goals. When the weekend came around I would feel guilt for enjoying a 30 minute show on my couch and for not doing any chores around the house and tackling my wife’s honey do list, but the reality is that I was just exhausted. I Can definitely say that it changed my life and perhaps my health, because since then anytime that exert myself doing an activity I get anxious and feel a tightness/heaviness on my chest that goes away by resting. I will be leaving that job soon and hope to take better care of myself.
Great advice! Thank you! Rest is very underrated. I am a licensed MT , people get sick and injured for not resting. Taking a break is not being lazy. It is necessary for mental and physical recovery.
Thank you so much for this. I've been taking time off for my mental health and now getting back into the workforce and I felt bad for not being "productive" during all these months that I've taken off. It's been hard not to feel guilty for taking time off and I've been filled with a lot of guilt and regret when I shouldn't be.
You should tell corporations this. My company brought Magic Johnson in yesterday for Black history month to tell us we need to work harder and sacrifice more of our time. I turned it off right at that second. I'm sick and tired of corporations taking more and more vacation away, laying off people with no warning and telling the rest of us we should work harder. Fuck that. You will have my time and attention during work hours but that's it. I have decided to live my life because work is just not that damn important in the grand scheme of things.
Thx for sharing your experience it is directly echoing to what Vivian just explained. ❤ By the way ignore the what’s app Vivian response it is a well known scam attempt .
There’s a middle ground, where you put in a meaningful and sustainable effort for your team. But I’ve seen employers put ppl on FMLA at lightning speed when illness strikes. Essentially greasing the skids for your removal. Remember, if you die your co. won’t even plant a tree in your honor. Don’t mess with that goose!🦆
Great reminder! We're not just deserving of rest - we're designed to rest. Ironically, some of the best ideas come when resting our brains (especially in the shower!). Great advice I received - nobody dies wishing they had spent more time at work.
whoa, did not expect to cry from this video! “you are your greatest asset” really hit me in the heart. I hope you turn this into a podcast episode 🤘podcast is 5 stars btw)
Proverbs 4: 7,8 "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her."
If you don't take care of you, no one else will either. Burning the candle at both ends will eventually burn the candle in the middle, and leave you in the darkness. Take time for you before your body starts to shut down, and you aren't able to recover.
Thank you so much for reminding iam alive. Your advice will be part of my effort to put myself first, a journey I statrted 2 years ago. Thank you, thank you
Life in balance is key (but not easy). Success (whatever that is for you) requires a multitude of characteristics - attitude, determination, collaboration, resilience, etc., etc. I'm an old guy at the end of my career. I've been lucky enough to be considered successful. It took years (decades) of working 12-hour days, 6 and 7 days a week. But I never missed my boy's activities - football games, basketball games, and on and on. And I made time to get to the gym 3 or 4 days a week. I found the time to become a 5th-degree black belt in Shotokan karate. Family activities are essential. This all takes focus and planning, but if you have the 'life in balance' mindset, and combine that with a big dose of "luck', you will hopefully find your life's rhythm which enables you to overcome life's challenges and lay the groundwork for a successful and satisfying life.
Thank you - I have literally been feeling this way since Friday... I have been working so hard since last August, with more responsibilities added in January, and trying to get my new business up and running, that I had an actual panic attack 3 weeks ago, and have been almost at burnout since. I have Never had a panic attack before - it was scary and I do NOT want to experience that again! My body and mind shut down early on Thursday after another 12 hour day, and I came home, changed and went straight to bed - missing dinner. It's been mentally tough to comprehend that I am so close to burn out - at the age of 45, I've never experienced this before. In my 20's and 30's, I always had 2 full time jobs (40 and 36 hours) or a full time and 2 part times (40, 20,18)... I've never had the stress as my current job is piling on, or maybe it's my age. My health is definitely suffering from it too! All this to say - Thank you - I needed to hear this message! I have been feeling so guilty for my body giving out on me. Yes, I will rest this weekend - thank you, Vivian!
Money is just paper backed by something that may or may not exist. Health is wealth. Do good and good things happen, do bad and bad things will follow.
I learned a great lesson from my dogs. Always leave time in your schedule for a good nap! I have a book recommend for you. The Promise Of Sleep, by William C. Dement M.D.. Dr. Dement was the founding father of modern sleep science.
Absolutely 💯 true! I am new in my field and already feeling burned out. As I look around for the next job I feel like I don't have much that I worked on to improve my resume.
I'm disabled, but I recently started working part-time so I don't end up living in my car. As a result of working, my physical health has gone downhill rapidly. Even though it's painful, I have begun exercising again just to maintain what health I have left to prevent catastrophe.
Favorite advice - 1. if someone tells you who they are...believe them. 2. If you don't think things through, even your feet won't get any rest. 3. Don't touch the poop it will just smell more. 4. If they are giving to you, take it. If they are beating you...run.
I worked in Germany for almost 20 yrs & work/life balance is highly regarded. People take vacation (6 wks a year) + sick leave + sick leave if your kid is sick. Companies are nevertheless profitable & you don't die at your desk. We Americans are brainwashed 10-12 hr days & maybe a few days vacation & no dick leave shows someone how successful we are.
My boss sat me down. Said i can only call out 3 times a year. I called out 5 times. In the meantime, I had worked so, so many extra hours, including days off. So I said thats fine, if it eventually leads to firing, that wont stop me from calling out... because Im a human being and when I do call out, I have a good reason (aka not the beach). I can find another job easily, I couldn't have earned the time back spent with sick loved ones.
i did trading 2 years straight out of university, was consuming knowledge, improving processes and trading 16-20hrs a day....Yea, now i am taking a break (oh no, getting a job actually? yea, i am only gonna work half the time, YAY)

Hi my Rich BFF👋🏼. I saw a video urging us to diversify into precious metals. This person is a retired woman living the nomadic lifestyle. She he’d just learned a little about BRICS creating a new currency which may devalue the American money. What is your advice?💵💰
When my friends ask me what’s your favorite finance book. I always jokingly tell them, instead of reading intelligent investor, richest man in Babylon or rich dad poor dad like half the finance gurus. I tell them to go read the tortoise and the hate 😂

Best advice I received was from my father who said: Only loan family and friends what you can afford to lose!
Greatest Advice Ever!🎉
Absolutely!!
Best advice I received was from my mother: Never trust family. They'll always f--k you over the hardest.
Lend money that you can afford to lose. Basically, give it away. If it comes back to you, fine, if it doesn't, fine too.

Here’s my advice: you don’t need to be rich to be happy. You can be happy now. If you focus on “things”, your focus needs to be adjusted.
I'm disabled, but I recently started working part-time so I don't end up living in my car. As a result of working, my physical health has gone downhill rapidly. Even though it's painful, I have begun exercising again just to maintain what health I have left to prevent catastrophe.
You need to start a business...do your research on different online businesses and see what resources are available to you.
Absolutely beautiful advice. Thank you.
This so so good, thanks so much for sharing ❤
My best peace of life advice that Ive ever gotten is that life is invisible. You have to become before you can receive it

This is great advice although, I learned this too late. I'm 51 and spent most of my life trying to make money. I always worked two jobs and spent a lot of times buying real estate. Now, I have no husband and no kids and I can't go back.
Please do try to reconnect with your children no matter their age. It's important for their sake and for yours.
