You are REAL!!! a lot of people are not used to strait talk like this big brother, a pipliner like your self from New York, if I can shake your hands through the screen I would, keep it coming!!.......today will be the first time I will be subscribing to a channel and it will be yours my brother thanks ,very inspiring.
Hey Chris I figured I’d give you an update on how I’ve been doing. I ended up placing 5th out of 284 competitors at Missouri Welding Institutes high school welding competition. I have enrolled in welding school and I started practicing open root when I have free time. Good to see that you’re still putting up high quality videos
The lady that makes my caps makes them in 3 different heights. Short for Taylor types :-), med and tall for those that like their big ears inside the cap. I clicked the like because Taylor is good people.
I deleted my first comment because you actually answered the question that I had, I just didn't wait long enough, my bad. Thank you for the videos though, I wanted to say that. I have a feeling you're going to be a big part of my schooling 😂 youve already saved my ear.. fr, got real close
Good video safety man, I too learned the hard way to keep my ears covered, i had molten metal land on my ear drum and just sizzle. It hurt a little bit. I always wear ear plugs after that
Back in the 70's I was in school and we were learning to do overhead welding with a gas torch. My tip popped and a big molten puddle of metal went to my belt. I jumped around thinking it would go down my leg inside my jeans. Instead it bounced around inside my boxers. When I quit dancing it came out of my pant leg and "klink" it hit the floor. I still have the scar. Worst part was going to the school nurse and she had to treat burns on my lower abdomen and my manhood. Experience taught me to be more careful and not weld overhead with a torch. Ha!
I really enjoy your channel and I'm not a professional welder but enjoy welding on my off time from my primary job. I also really enjoy when your grandfather speaks about God. You are truly blessed sir. Thank you for your time, sir.
I keep a Chinese ointment "Ching Wan Hung" in my service truck for burns. It will take the fire out of a sever burn in about a hour. You can sleep thru the night without pain. Does a pretty good job of preventing blistering. Heals faster.
I wear mine with the bill to the back when sitting at the welding table only time i wear it over my ear is doing over head or laying underneath something welding
Been welding for years that being said, great points about the covering ears (there's no other feeling or sound like it when hot slag drops in your ear) and the flaps on pockets things like that, that have just became routine for me and don't even think to tell others when working with new welders just coming into the field. All that being said GREAT VIDEO GREAT CONTENT LIKE ALWAYS! APPRECIATE YOU AND WHAT YOU DO
Thanks for your insights. I’ve burnt out my left ear drum twice for sure and possibly a third time. Also, you can’t put a price on a good fitting shirt. Me personally, I wear the Wrangler/Riggs cotton twill button down shirts. They are available in FR and I’ve had a few and, I swear, they’re made differently, don’t fit nearly as well and only last about half as long. As for the leathers, I burnt up several Carhartt work coats before I bit the bullet and bought a pair of leathers. Had no idea they were so inexpensive and would last so long. Well worth the investment.
I watched this video and ended up looking into the Bocomal brand shirts and bought one for work since I had just started at a structural steel fab shop 2 months ago after graduation from school for welding, thankfully the shirt isn't a "pretty shirt" as you put it and it has definitely held up so far. I came back to this video and forgot about getting shirts tailored, it might help keep from getting my shirts snagged on stuff everyday. Love the videos, keep up the great content
I was given some overalls with a hood on at an offshore yard I worked at once, I thought they were prity cool until it was raining once and decided to put them over my head with all the day's slag spatter and dust, as for hats I would wear "Watson reversible" which you had to get from the states dont know what they're like now but they were much better than kromers" with the hard peaks
WOW 😯❗️Cool Video ❗️ Chris Taylor Is SO STRONG That when he Forges 2 pieces of Metal Together: He Sometimes uses his welding equipment BUT Usually he just forces them together 😂😂😂 Happy Sunday my friend and Brother in Christ. Blessings, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊❗️
I love welding, I’m not as good at some aspects of it as others, like overhead stuff. I need some good welding clothing. I have gloves and sleeves but I need to get some shirts or a jacket
Do you use CAT2 or CAT3? I have some CAT2 pants and shirts for electric work in power houses but I do have an ARIAT jacket that is a CAT3 but the coat ran 315.00! All the CAT2 shirts are obviously not made for arch protection. They aren’t as thick as the CAT3
Nothing like fire rolling down in the ear!! 🤣🤣🤣Shirts, I liked BB kaki then Wrangler kaki, starched up nice and tight!!! Your right aobut having your shit together, people notice...
Dude u cool as he'll I've worked with some real great guys that will go out of there way.we weld out engine room 6010 root 7018 hot and cap..love that u ain't cusin and I can tell u are a Christian brother..I'm in alpha Georgia
I am fortunate enough to have a wife that makes my welding hats. Never used to wear them until that one day a molten bb bounced around the inner lobe of my ear....😮 I was lucky now I'm not stupid about safety. Nothing cool about burns anywhere on your body.
I need to purchase a welder for Aluminum boat building. Any recommendations? I heard spool at the handle is best over stick? Thnx mang! Good channels.. watch em often
Aren’t those ear flap hats mostly for pipe liners who wear those pancake hoods where one side of your head is exposed? Otherwise, wearing the flap in the back is better to cover your neck since both ears are shielded by the helmet.

I agree Benjamin. The worst thing my friends can do to me is not tell me the truth.

I’ve just been wearing a little bandana but after hearing the smoke out the mouth thing you bet your ass I’m gettin me genuine weldin hat.
You gotta love hearing the ear spark sizzling it’s way down
Makes my hurt just thinking about it

That’s cool, Mike!
I was in a competition for the state of Arkansas. It was called VICA back then.

Yes sir I am blessed. My grandfather is the best person I’ve ever met. He’s my hero.
I agree with you on the shirt, and I prefer the snap silver button so I can get it off quick if I need to

Dude, you are hilarious, and good. I'm a novice. And you have taught me a lot. Thanks
I wear mine with the bill to the back when sitting at the welding table only time i wear it over my ear is doing over head or laying underneath something welding
For the welding beanie I was told to put cotton ball in my ear by my grand father and it's been helpful to say the least lol
smart
i think it's just generally advisable to wear a pair of plugs at all times lol great video my dude keep it up

Spool gun is the way to go for sure.

Even with your hood on, sparks can fly in between your hood and head. Which could go in your ear
@ I’ve never had a problem with that. Though I sometimes wear the cap that came with my hood.
Percentage of welders with shining heads?
🤷
Everything is hot ass hell during the summer! 😆😂🤣😅🤷🏿♂️
True it’s miserable right now
Another good one brother
Well said
I wonder if it's as hot and miserable where you are as it is here. The protective clothing is great but I sweat so much it's total misery.
It’s not hot right now but when it is, it’s miserable
I was the 666th like, just about to start welding for the first time. Good thing I'm not superstitious...
sup wid it lol
I think my nipple is the only thing I haven't caught on fire yet. Might as well try it.😅
Why doesnt the hat cover both of your ears? Wouldnt that be even better?
the fucking shirt
mf sunday school xDxD
Like #679
That’s great advice on the welding hat
Thanks
If you don't have a polka dot cover you arent a real welder.
