@@john.mascolo Thanks a lot! Pretty fun at any size over here. Hopefully this incoming « very active » hurricane season will produce some epic waves on the East Coast 🤙
@@assassin7250 I think it all depends on how well you know the spot and your general ocean knowledge! But as long as you’re not putting yourself in dangerous conditions, you’ll have the best sessions of your life alone 🤙
@@maximebesson I greatly appreciated it; I live in California and the only beach near me is Santa Cruz but I am planning to go to Pleasure Point since that a good beginner spot for surfing. I'll definitely take note with being aware of dangerous condition or whatnot. Thanks once again!
Hey, do you have any tips for surfing larger steeper waves? I’ve Been learning heaps this winter with the bigger swells here in Australia but I still have a lot to learn I wipe out almost all the time haha, I know about angling the surfboard but is there any other tips that would be helpful?
@@CooperStandring Hey mate! If you can, positioning early and paddling hard helps a lot, that way you’re not taking that steep of a drop. If you must take off late, what’s been helping me a lot is to try pushing the board down and in front of me when popping up. That way, the board gets a bit of a head start down the face and my weight is way back, which is good to avoid nose diving! Practice makes perfect as always, keep at it and you’ll have your aha moment for sure! 🤙
People for some reason think they can get away with paddling softer in steep heavy waves but its actually the opposite. You need to make sure you are paddling your ass off to get in before the lip
@@asaha177 I mostly surf the same spots everyday. When the swell is chest high or below, I’ll be honest, I don’t. When it gets heavy, I absolutely do! 🤙
Now I understand why the Olympic event is at Teahupo'o. But as we say here in So Cal, if you don't surf slop you don't surf!
@@justme307 Spot on 😂 Funny enough summer has been better than spring so far.
That’s the spirit! As long as it’s rideable, we out there 🤙

@@WildPinetree Aha not complaining, it was offshore! What’s your local break?
@@maximebesson I’m from Israel, it can get good ( usually in winter) but summer isn’t the best 😂
@@WildPinetreeProps to you for being a Mediterranean surfer 🤙 At least you get to enjoy warm water in the summer
Hey do you think it’s wise for a beginner to go out here alone if they want to get into surfing? Before you even ask( I have no friends that surf).

1. Are you paddling enough?
2. Are you stand up fast enough?
And where are you surfing in Australia?
