I came here by way of Bardwell and the drama all over the internet. I can't believe this video is the video that started a firestorm. Botgrinder, this style of content is great and you should do more of it!
M heart, that pic of me and trappy at the start of the video while bot talks about positive ambassadors for the hobby made my day. amazing video and great take. Got some real channel 5 news vibes. loved it. The problem I think for content creators is not actually the affiliates but the thumbnails. if youtube doesnt promote it than you are out of luck. ive made plenty of best videos and plenty of warning videos but 9 times out of ten people only click on best videos and thats all they see in the recommended etc. becomes a cycle in the short term. Long term I think people learn to trust or distrust who they watch. For me personally ive had ups and downs within the community and people remember the "bests" but dont remember the warnings. eg no one remembers my first warning video when DJi first came out speaking of the dangers of them, or rocking aomway goggles as my main for years, but they do remember a best drone for $99 etc. cheers for keeping it real borother.
I remember pretty much everything you have made haha, glad to have you in this community with us still my bro. from what I have seen If your in the game long enough you will have ups and downs with the community no matter what, it just depends on how you handle it moving forward.

Speaking as someone who reviews a bunch of stuff - Although I do tend to give my honest opinions, which is why a whole heap of companies no longer talk to me :) I have seen meteoric rises of channels where every new quad is the-best-thing-ever, and I always thought that there's no way this will last. People will smell the bullshit after 10 videos or so. But no, they keep growing with the channels getting very big and popular. For some reason, people do like to organise themselves into little gangs where they'll eat up anything that certain people say. There's currently so little to be made in affiliate sales for a channel of my size, that it's not worth the effort anymore. Personally, I'm scaling way back on reviews this year - I'll attempt to make money elsewhere and stick to looking at more interesting projects/builds and doing more of my own thing
Yeah, i think most people can distinguish between advertisements and opinions (after watching a few videos), but it can be a PITA when you’re starting out. That’s for sure.

Drone Camps and Captain Drone are definitely the top 2 channels at fault for this. Also, the fact Justin Davies got an AI to write a terrible email about defamation is hilarious!
Was too funny when DC got angry at CD for releasing a drone ad "review" before the time it's meant to be realeased (according to their contract by the manufacturer) . It just proves that both of those salesmen are in it for the affiliate links and not the hobby.
Its simple for me, have more respect for your followers to tell them when products suck. Integrity is more important than free products in my opinion. Awesome video Bot. You have alot of wisdom on this homie! 🤘
@conorstewart2214 it's there mindset which needs changing. Your followers will take care of you if your honest and be transparent with them. Sponsors come and go.
I think that monetization is the worst thing to happen to RUclips. People used to make videos just because they had a video that they wanted to make and had no expectation of getting views, but now a lot of channels are pumping out videos just because "it's their full time job". They will steer clear of talking about anything that could get them demonetized, but still expect people to trust them. Look at how many "reviews" are just people unboxing the drone and then doing 1 flight and talking about their initial impressions. It's also annoying how a lot of channels start their videos by demanding that people subscribe to them. Do they really think that I don't know how RUclips's subscription system works?
Nah this is definitely a bit old man yells at cloud, or at the very least misguided reasoning. There is SO much positive stuff and absolutely award winning content being produced on YT that would NEVER exist without creators getting paid. If they couldn't get paid through YT itself it, people would just be shilling through ad reads, patreon, etc. YT paying ad revenue enables creators to ignore all that and still make a living.
@@chronicnugget5595 The sponsors and Patreon are included in my complaints. I can see both sides of the coin, but its really getting annoying how it seems like every single youtuber and their grandma are doing ad reads and begging people to join their Patreon. Why do so many people need to make a living from RUclips videos, especially when they quit their job first and then try to make the RUclips career viable? What happened to just making videos for fun and to share your interests? I don't have a problem with people getting paid. I'm just really getting tired of the sponsors and Pateron reads in what seems like every single video I watch. Does money really need to be a part of every video? I feel that money also ruined livestreaming too with the donation messages. The streamers constantly stop what they are doing to respond to the donators and it derails the stream. I stopped watching gaming livestreams since the streamer usually spends the majority of the time responding to comments and doesn't do much gaming.
I think you are way off with this. If creators didn’t get paid and couldn’t do it as a job then youtube would have a lot less content and the content would be lower quality. Everyone else in the entertainment industry gets paid, musicians, actors, presenters, cameramen, editors, etc, so why shouldn’t RUclips content creators? You also have a misguided view in what demonetised means. You don’t get demonetised for saying a product is rubbish or giving you honest opinion, you get demonetised for breaching copyright or RUclips’s terms of service, so for showing nudity, dangerous acts, breaking the law, etc, and even then RUclips seems pretty relaxed about the breaking the law part or practically every FPV video would get taken down for flying without a spotter or beyond line of sight or using too high a transmit power. People unboxing a drone and test flying it once and people never saying anything negative about drones has nothing to do with being demonetised by RUclips, it is either them just getting a video out as soon as possible or them wanting to keep up their relationship with a company.
I left the hobby back in 2017 because of alllll these points man, getting back into it now purely because you're still uploading and speaking facts hahaha. Spark one up from down under brother❤
Thanks for the shout! lol I respect this video - you made a ton of good points. I agree as a creator it’s f***ed up if you recommend affiliate links to products that you don’t actually use. It might work for a short amount of time - but in the long run people always catch on and call out those people. I also think as FPV grows there’s a pretty big divide growing between freestyle pilots and people like myself that started in the filmmaking world and just use FPV to get cool shots to add to our videos. The people who are just getting into it trying to film for the most part just want a simple setup that gets them in the air - sure it costs a bit more but I think it’s a net positive to have more people in the community. Loved the 107 commercial
hey thanks for understanding i tried to find another avata shot but i was like this guy seems cool i dont think he would mind lol and i 100% agree with you i should have made more of a distinction between film making and freestyle but that could probably be a whole video by itself, i come from the super diy freestyle times of 2016 and sometimes i need to remind myself the hobby has expanded into other markets. i appreciate you watching and leaving a comment and thanks again for letting me use the clip with out a CnD letter. (;
I've been thinking the exact same thing for a while, but you've described it better than I could ever do. I'm really loving the commentary stuff lately, you're an awesome asset to the FPV hobby. Keep keepin' it real, we all love you. Oh, and you never did tell us which diapers to buy.
Great video. I just got in to FPV over the last year and it's been so difficult separating the honest reviews from the bs. Finally found a few channels I can trust and it's been great. Keep speaking the truth 👊🏻
What an underrated video. Bot, I've seen your work for a few years now but I didn't appreciate it as much as I do now, with 4 years of FPV under my belt.
Bloody newbies! When I started we had tricopters with helicopter rate-gyros, there was no such thing as a flight controller. Then the multiwi controller came along, followed by the Naze32 and Baseflight. Kids today! 😛
Loved the 107 skit...summed it up so well. I've been doing real estate drone videos for a little bit now and have been able to get by without one. The video can't be listed on the official MLS without a scan of the 107 license, though.
You just got a subscribe The cease and desist that you received. No matter if they are talking shit or talking you up, they are still talking about you.
The whole camera industry seems to be the same way. Every time I need to research a camera or drone frame my YT feed ends up full of influencers making that goofy poggers face with a picture of some product superimposed on top.... caption "THIS PRODUCT CHANGES EVERYTHING!!!!". Yuck
@@BonesFPV Nah. If you've been watching him lately, he be shillin with the best of em. The only reason he wasn't shillin before was no one gave him stuff to shill.
I unsubbed to Drone Camps back in 2019 or so because I got suspicious of the fact that every fucking product he "reviewed" was "The Best drone of 20xx", or "this Radio is the best.." It got old real quick, and for someone that gets a couple of thousand views per video, with nearly 200,000 subs speaks volumes as to the quality of his content. It's people getting in to the hobby that are likely to get bitten, like I did, when I knew nothing about the hobby.
Preach. I stumbled across your page through the algorithm and I’m glad I did. Your take is refreshing compared to the other garbage that’s out there from the paid for influencers.
Very cool @BOTGRINDER I’m kinda new at the fpv world and I’m loving it and frustrated with it at times but that because I’m learning. I started out flying a Syma drone then and still dji . I’m playing around with the traditional fpv analog quads and having a good time.
Fun fact… I just got a community guidelines strike removed from my channel for trolling DJI from back when they first came out with their FPV system. I’m sure the strike had nothing to do with DJI spending millions on a RUclips ad campaign at the time 😜
At 1st I thought this was a complaint video but alot ofwhat you said is what i see!! Good call out !!! I personally get tired of seeing the same content from different creators ...lots of people are scared to be original.....but that's in my favor....I'll see you all at the top!!
The funny thing is, 99% of people wouldn't have even picked the Douche Camps reference (although we all know he's a sellout) if the clown hadn't brought attention to himself. Watching JB and Blunty grinding him into bong dregs was so satisfying and speaks volumes of their true colours. Love ya Bot 🤙
I heard about that but that channel said it was Bot that called out DC, I had difficulty believing that. I'll check out Bardwell's website so I I can let the other person know they're wrong. Great video Bot! Really love these commentary vids you've been putting out. And yea, I'm ok! There are a whole bunch of reasons I stopped making vids (for now)... a few related to some of the frustrations you've been talking about... but for the most part, I just had to prioritize some other things for now and don't have the amount of time I'd need to make videos that I'd be happy with. I hope to be back one day though. Also, I just want to say how much I appreciate you supporting me from the beginning man. Your comments on my vids always meant a lot.

Very accurate retelling of FPV history. Bot a real one. ❤
Drone Camps RC is ruining FPV.
Thanks for the shout! lol
I respect this video - you made a ton of good points.
Loved the 107 commercial
hey thanks for understanding i tried to find another avata shot but i was like this guy seems cool i dont think he would mind lol and i 100% agree with you i should have made more of a distinction between film making and freestyle but that could probably be a whole video by itself, i come from the super diy freestyle times of 2016 and sometimes i need to remind myself the hobby has expanded into other markets. i appreciate you watching and leaving a comment and thanks again for letting me use the clip with out a CnD letter. (;
haha no worries at all dude. No shot I'd ever send out an AI generated CnD 😂@@BOTGRINDER
Brutal honesty is the way to grow
What an underrated video. Bot, I've seen your work for a few years now but I didn't appreciate it as much as I do now, with 4 years of FPV under my belt.
Bot becoming the conscience of FPV RUclips… woaaah dude. This is straight truth, appreciate it.
Bring back gatekeeping!
I started back in 2014 when we only had Cleanflight. It's definitely been a journey 😂 Miss seeing Charpu and all the OG's together!
shit i used to run dronin lol
Bloody newbies! When I started we had tricopters with helicopter rate-gyros, there was no such thing as a flight controller. Then the multiwi controller came along, followed by the Naze32 and Baseflight. Kids today! 😛
@@xjet 🤣🤣🤣
U had a UI? i Had the kk board :)
@@xjet those were the days mate. i watched all your content to haha
Loved the 107 skit...summed it up so well. I've been doing real estate drone videos for a little bit now and have been able to get by without one. The video can't be listed on the official MLS without a scan of the 107 license, though.
One of the best "Keeping it real" videos I've seen in quite a while. RESPECT!!!!!
You just got a subscribe The cease and desist that you received. No matter if they are talking shit or talking you up, they are still talking about you.
Word!
Is BotGrinder becoming the voice of reason in FPV?
@@shadowofchaos8932 I think this proves what I've been saying for some time now: _"The world is a strange place"_ 😛
@@xjet well i learned it form somewhere!
You need to do more of this stuff. You're really good at it!
The whole camera industry seems to be the same way. Every time I need to research a camera or drone frame my YT feed ends up full of influencers making that goofy poggers face with a picture of some product superimposed on top.... caption "THIS PRODUCT CHANGES EVERYTHING!!!!". Yuck
Except Camera Conspiracies. That dude is cool AF.
@@BonesFPV Nah. If you've been watching him lately, he be shillin with the best of em. The only reason he wasn't shillin before was no one gave him stuff to shill.
@@MrPhilbautistamaybe. I always found him pretty authentic - But maybe I am easily fooled... At the very least he is quite entertaining. Cheers.
At least if cameras every single one will give you very good photos and there is a huge market of used gear not that far behind in quality
"I had a good time, but look at me." xD
Im gonna talk to my lawyers bot. Im butt hurt 😂😅😂😅😂😅
I really loved this style of video man. You kick ass at this video essay style!
I unsubbed to Drone Camps back in 2019 or so because I got suspicious of the fact that every fucking product he "reviewed" was "The Best drone of 20xx", or "this Radio is the best.."
It got old real quick, and for someone that gets a couple of thousand views per video, with nearly 200,000 subs speaks volumes as to the quality of his content.
It's people getting in to the hobby that are likely to get bitten, like I did, when I knew nothing about the hobby.
I'm with you there...I have a bunch of crap because I foolishly believed all of these people when I was just starting out.
It's all about having a good time!
Fun fact… I just got a community guidelines strike removed from my channel for trolling DJI from back when they first came out with their FPV system.
I’m sure the strike had nothing to do with DJI spending millions on a RUclips ad campaign at the time 😜
hahahahahaha
true words my friend. hope all is well.
Finally someone said it! The influencers are Corny as hell
"Just give me money and you pass, not guaranteed, fuck you." ☠️☠️☠️
Your content is blowing up for all the right reasons. Hats off lets go!
At 1st I thought this was a complaint video but alot ofwhat you said is what i see!! Good call out !!! I personally get tired of seeing the same content from different creators ...lots of people are scared to be original.....but that's in my favor....I'll see you all at the top!!
every time i do a video like this i worry it will just look like me being negative and complaining but i think i get my points across decent haha.
Drone Camps did not like being called out by Bardwell for Sus content ….
I heard about that but that channel said it was Bot that called out DC, I had difficulty believing that. I'll check out Bardwell's website so I I can let the other person know they're wrong. Botgrinder's channel is one of my favourites and he doesn't deserve the negativity being directed at him.
Thanks for sharing that information with us.
Having my quad turn into a brick from just updating it made me switch to other hobbies for a while
I forgot to say Madstech is also equelly awesome.
yes he is!
Are influencers ruining fpv? ABSOLUTELY !!!!
AWESOME VIDEO in my opinion and perfectly TRUE !!!
What's really going to blow your mind is how many of these influencers are now hired by the DoD to teach drone warfare to the special operations dudes.
yeahhhhh, ive been hearing some pretty gross shit.
I'm glad YT made these changes. I really was getting tired of these 'salesman'
Loves me some classic Botgrinder.... TRUE STORY. Awesome vid bro.
"But there are some channels out there that have affilate links to every drone they review...and every drone is the best drone" Justin starts sweating...and hyper ventilating 😂😂. Bot was on point with this content. 🔥🔥🔥
yess totally rotor riot in particular went from flying with friend to BUY MY SHIT ! almost all of them go in the BUY MY SHIT gategorie ( commented before watching video answering title )
omg, i am in the hobby since 2017 and i feel you. Thank you for making this video, WONDERFULL!

I want to see a RUclips mma fight in sumo suits with toothpicks challenge laid down and if dc wants views he will accept. He can use the best toothpick of 2024 if he wants . I would sign up to be a patron. Forget the lawyer threats . Fight it out like real men in blowup sumo suits with remote in hand if your really the best you tuber of 2024 !
lol,, I hate to say that i found your channel because of the dronecamp drama. But i can say that after listening to JB and then you. I subscribed to you immediately. JB was right, you speak my language bro. great channel. I respect JB for sending us your way. im looking forward to you getting 200k. its gonna happen. i started in 2013 and it was hard back then. you really had to want it, to fly acro. we could barely fly at sunset, one look into the sun and game over. lol .i don't even remember there being any camera drones back then. .Vegas was one of the pioneer places. we had huge drama even back then. stay cool. come fly my Tungsten mine !!

Agree 100%.
Certain creators are starting to sound like advertising. The spirit of the hobby gets lost pretty quick.
Love the good old thrashing and bashing fpv videos
Great video good sir, if start dropping some names and make this like 1.5hrs, it would be like the @Hbommerguy video man, good shit!
i love Hbommerguy
I never heard of Drone Camps until he called himself out.
Crazy bots wacky 107 emporium!! Ha that was great!
Influencers are great at drawing new people into the hobby. I joined fpv by watching Captain Drone videos then ended up watching Joshua Bardwell.
As someone who has just bought their first drone, goggles etc and am lost and overwhelmed you nailed it.
I didn’t know that nothing was gonna come with batteries or that it’s not assembled and I still haven’t flown outside a simulator but I’m hopeful lol.
Glad I found your channel even if a little too late since I bought gear already 🤷♂️
It's a blast dude.
Keep up with the sim but get out and fly ASAP. So much fun
you will be buying plenty more if you stick with it haha.
And learn about batteries. They can be dangerous.
what you call DJI bros I called Potato Bros an entire wave of pilots that cant solder LOLz.
I can solder, just can't fly well haha I cam fly ok now tho thanks to that potato! Lol
don't you think that's a little elitist?
@@konzeptzwei its anti elitist its anti dji which is the evil overlord 👹👹👹👹
@@Todd_G_FPV being able to build and solder is an engineering feat. and impresses me more than being able to "fly guud" lol thats just stick time
@mfrfpv9079 yeah, my muscle memory is getting WAY better just not at the level I'm shooting for YET! lol soldering was actually pretty easy for me to learn. I started soldering well over 10 years ago fir my trucks but last September have moved more towards drones and wanting to get a wing next!
So good to hear from you! And of course man you make some of the beat videos in the game but i definitely understand.
I was influenced by this video 😏
It doesn't matter, this doesn't matter, I definitely don't matter. Fly a drone, come on do a flip.
Good video! Only a handful of fpv famous dudes I trust. The rest are mostly sellout shills.
Quite honestly I wasn't following you until this video. Meanwhile it led me to unfollow a number of other channels I frequented because you made a very valid point. It isn't just the FPV community. I realize that it is every community in which they can sell you a product. I come to RUclips more for tutorials for various things ranging from FPV to woodworking to 3D printing. Keep this stance. Your content is far more respected than a lot of other people on here guaranteed.
Captain drone seems to be the worst of the "this is the best drone ever of this week" influencers
Tight race with Drone Camps although, to be fair, most kwads coming out now are pretty good and worthy of praise. They just tend to overdo it.
@@MrPhilbautista that was something that was pointed out to me is alot of these bnfs are pretty good coming out now, but still there has to be a line they cant all be the best in every category.
@@MrPhilbautistathis comment aged well:)
@@TheCivildecay What do you mean? Even Botgrinder agreed with my statement that most kwads coming out are worthy of praise. I never contradicted his claim that a line has to be drawn somewhere because i agree with him that there are some sites that tend to be too easy to please.
I had not heard of botgrinder before the C&D drama. I'm a subscriber now.
Ohhhhhhh dc got his feelings hurt. Ohhhhhhh poor cry baby. Hey dc, why don’t you make some decent real content rather than reading dot points out out there by the manufacturers and actually be a decent part of the community. Rather than throwing rocks at ppl from behind closed doors.
Great video as always Bot. You really are one of the best ambassadors for this hobby and I'm so glad you call out the bad actors.
