This modification transforms the interior! The first gen IS should have come with white LEDs from the factory in my opinion. I hope this video helps you make the swap. Thanks for watching!

NOTE: If you would like to source your own LEDs, here are the types:
For the gauge cluster: T10 wedge (large) and T5 wedge (medium)
For the clock/temp: Neo wedge T3 (8mm)
For the climate controls: Neo wedge T4 (10mm)

They chose the warm orange tone because it's easy on the eyes over long periods and maintains better night vision. It also minimizes eye fatigue that some people experience when looking at narrow-band blue colour LEDs. Another factor causing headaches for some people is cheap low-frequency PWM-based dimming circuits.
Yeah I can understand that, but it just looks dull 😃 it depends how much you drive at night and how long for. Ideally it would be nice to have RGB lights on a controller.
I actually prefer the orange lights, it fits the car style, And fits the era the car was manufactured in.
Kept mine orange because it looks better and doesn't cause eye strain

Agreed on the eye strain . Orange and red are much easier on the eyes, and when you look away from red or Orange your eyes do not have to readjust. It’s the reason they use red lights in the pilot station on boats at night (coast guard, commercial vessels, etc.).

Good to know for those who will get there own lights, the t4s for the climate controls are t4.2, and not t4.7 which i accidentally bought
I've just done the same mod today on my is200, at moment I've just got the centre console lights, reverse, and number plate ones left, the cluster, ignition ring, sunvisor, back and front dome lights and side lights all done. And they look stunning it makes the car more modren, now I've just need to get some good low beam and main beam and also fog lights LED somthing that lasts long too.
Nice! 😃 I like leaving some of them stock. The main dash info (rpm etc.) is all I need really. I’ll have to do the same for my IS300 soon.

White LEDs look good just dim them if too bright. My white 2008 avalon had white LEDs gauges from the factory

I know we’re pushing 4 years for this post. But by chance do you know why after I took out my centre console the cluster lights don’t work at all. Replaced the fuse already. I’m think fuse blew and blew the bulbs with it?
@@tyzackdaniels8097 I would replace all since they’re pretty cheap. Test the fuse again before switching on. Make sure your battery and alternator are putting out the right power and current etc. Basic checks and then see what happens :)

- Full OEM TRD body kit
- OEM spoiler
- Welded diff
- sports grill
- Bola rims / even the stock rims in black
- sunstrip
- yellow fog lights
- exhaust system
- supercharger / turbo kit
- 2jz swap
- manual obviously lol
- turbo whistle- just kidding lol

Hey! Nice video, do you have the name of the bulbs in the heated seats buttons? My track/snow is burned out I think 😁
Oh and for the cluster I've only done the big 3 from orange to white the small ones are still orange but they blend in well with the white, so I'm leaving them like that at moment.

Does the gauge cluster bulb sockets have polarity? I'm planning to do led swap in the gauge but don't like to repeat everything again incase of wrong polarity ( + / - interchanged )

Unfortunately, yes. I think it’s best to buy really good quality ones from a proper electronics store perhaps.

I used a razor blade and messed up one of the heated seat ones.
I found some 320 grit sandpaper worked for me - slow and steady lol
Also how come the trac and head seat buttons weren’t lit up in your before and after shot??.... just wondering lol

I have a different radio installed already that required a metra dash kit you think itd be sketchy to try and remove it all or should I go for the led swap anyways

Can you still dim with dimmer switch or is the brightness at one level?
You can still use the dimmer. Like I said in the video, about 75% will make the LEDs last longer than 100% :) 50% would be even better.

@@yarnobertier8022 I see. Just replace the bulbs with new bulbs or LEDs. The LED to the right must be dodgy. There’s nothing else you can do except replace.

i did this and for some odd reason some lights are brighter than the others i tried witching the bulbs but they either too dim or brighter than the others
Yeah I got this problem where everything except climate control and heated seats are bit too dim in comparison to the cluster lights
