I just bought the 248 and after 3 mowing's I have no complaints other than that long discharge shoot thing. On an previous mower I put a small C-Clamp out on the end with the the threaded rod part sticking up to make like a T handle for easily lifting the shoot without having to bend as far and keeps fingers safer from any debris flying out.
5/20/23 This mower now sells for 3699 now. Apparently all the mower companies saw the huge prices of the electrics and said, wow we can jack out prices way up and still be cheaper then electric. Was looking at a JD 120s which sold for 2100 in 2021 and not the exact same mower is 2800. Thats a 33% increase for no reason.
Ordered mine last week in South Africa. Couldnt find any reviews of south africans about it. This was very helpfull thanks! I ordered mine with collector bucket at back... so will see how it goes...
Just bought the ts 248xd after having the craftsman with a 54" stamped deck for years. Couldn't agree more, the 248 feels very tight and smooth. Don't get me wrong, i love my craftsman, but way too bouncy and loose. I now love my 248 and the fabricated deck, although my neighbors will no longer have "deck" envy of my 54 inch!
I am still waiting for that grass that stops growing at three or four inches. It was "right around the corner" when I was in high school back in the mid 1970's:)

Glad you are liking your tractor, congrats! Why are gear-heads so hard on these? Seems like people really like them. I was in a shop the other day and the guy tells me to not even look at tractors and just get a Toro zero-turn.
I tried a neighbors zero turn and didnt like it. I'm always scratching my face when mowing and the second you take your hand off one of the two handles it winds up going where you don't want it to go.
Thank you for making this video.. I am considering this mower in Nova Scotia, Canada. Yes, expensive machine $3,799 here. Also looking for a mower with a 42" Fabricated Deck
Geezus I just looked at the price of that one, 7K???? Mine was between 3 and 4k but I don't see any noticeable difference with the TXD model. I don't get it
Hi, not sure if this applies to a ride on mower. Had a lawn mower serviced recently. The repairer said a major cause of problems is when a mower sits unused for a lengthy time, and the fuel left in the tank/lines goes stale. Stale fuel forms gum residues, varnishes, oxidises, water vapour, causing blockages and/or damage internal engine components. Said to syphon out the fuel and/or run the engine dry (all fuel in lines consumed), and use only fresh fuel bought from petrol station, not fuel stored for a long time. Thought it would damage the fuel pump to run it dry, like it would in a car. He said it wouldn't. Lawn mower was a Briggs and Stratton. Not sure if same applies to a Husqvarna. Great vid, thanks.
What you describe is especially true if you use normal gas with ethanol. I actually buy ethanol free gas for use in my tractors/generators for that very reason.
Used to go to coffee with a bunch of my mechanic friends and they said two things that I adhere to: either run the gas out completely of any motorized product like mowers or pressure washers, etc or you purchase oxygenated gas, The later is expensive but it has no ethanol to go bac . Here in the midwest our equipment can sit for six months without use. PS mechanics also say the use of Sea Foam or stabilizers dont work anymore, ethanol gas breaks them down after 45 days.
Thinking of getting this one or the 248XD. What made you decide on the smaller deck given the size of your property? I’m wondering if the 42 inch deck has a tighter turning radius than the 48 inch.
I have been told I look/sound like so many different people, it's funny. I plan to do an update video on the mower soon, but yea still like it, only a couple small negatives.
You should be able to buy it wherever you got the mower, or at Lowe’s. And it’s not a special belt, any 5/8 x 110” or whatever V belt will do so tractor supply…. It’s definitely not online only.
Thanks a lot for doing this review. Like you mentioned, there isn't much out there on the TS 242XD. One thing I wanted to ask about was the locking rear differential, even though I know you don't have much need for it there. Have you noticed any binding if you take a really sharp turn? Some people say that the locking differentials can tear up a lawn if you're not careful but I really don't know whether that's true. Thanks!
It will tear up the ground if you take a tight turn like you are driving a race car. But if you drive at a normal speed and slow down when making a turn you won't have any problem.
I have the TS 248 XD and felt the need to try it like a race car. Was the only time I ever saw the lawn torn up a little in a tight turn. I just wanted to see the engine bog down once, though it never did even at full speed while cutting and turning tightly. It just laughed at me and kept flying through the grass. During normal, not even cautious, mowing I have not seen any issues with turns.
Great little mower ,I have the 342 it's meh ok ,,same Kawi engine,,wish mine had the 12v output power bigger spotties or charge phone or power a speaker
I think I saw that video too. This did not sound any louder than my Craftsman YT4000 which was a 42 inch deck too. The video I think you are referring to was a larger deck model that has three blades instead of two so maybe it's louder.
I actually borrowed my neighbors zero turn a couple years ago. I find my face is always itchy when I mow. The second you take your hand off the steering levers the tractor turns. For me, that was very annoying as I had to stop every time I scratched an itch.
Just a thought...maybe its just me and I’m going senile, from what you mentioned on the EUC videos, EUCs and this Husqarvana mower are in the general price ball park, right? Doesn’t it seems that your getting a lot more in the mower than the EUC? Irrespective of economy of escale or technology?

Because I had spots on the property where only a 42 inch deck would fit around and in between. I doubt the turning radius is any different.
