Your videos bring me a lot of calm, fun and I learn new things. You live in a paradise, there is nothing better than connecting with nature, it is magical. ❤
I would love to live out there, the beach, the trees, all of nature. I like building birdhouses & walking sticks & I would love to make a bunch of little homes for the birdies in the forest! What area are you in? I want to find somewhere like that to move to. I spent my life following what I thought everyone expected of me but now I'm slowly collecting things to camp & travel. Now I just need a way to get my own van or something to move me around.
Thank you for providing much needed calm and grounding during an era of insanity and hate. Your down to earth narration and Bambi fun are so lovely. Cheers!

Thank you for sharing these parts of your life with us. I live a couple hundred K south of you and the forests are similar. That first bit with the wind in the trees was wonderful. I hope you have more good days than bad and find ways for at least a little joy every day.
It's cool how the beaver chews the bark off one side of the tree so it grows to be heavier on the side it needs to fall, usually so it goes into the water. Beautiful area!
Such a lovely, calming video. Great book collection. I haven't read Braiding Sweetgrass, but I did read her other book about moss, and I loved it a lot.
The natural surroundings you've captured feel truly magical and enchanting. Struggling with sleep for the past three months now because of Gaza Genocide, but videos like these provides a much needed escape. Truly Thanks for creating this beautiful video.
Really nice Nicole, thank you! Forty one years ago I married a woman which I would characterize as very similar in personality to you: smart, athletic, independent and self confident but with a healthy dose of humility. Living is all about change but I hope you will not deviate from these primary qualities 😊😊
I love your channel. My father got his degree in forestry studies, and my brother and I both grew up chopping wood in the deep south for heat when necessary. Doesn't happen much these days, as the deep south is super hot and I live in Scandinavia, but I used to live in Kamloops and built a huge pile of logs for the winter. Honestly, your wood chopping technique is miles above mine. Traveling to the Rockies this summer and hope to use some of your tips. Keep up the good work!
Mom used to put old tin loaf pans with water in and some cedar sprigs on the side (kind of half on) of the heating ducts in the house. Putting on radiators works, putting on the wood stove at the cabin we never tried, but hey, why not. We had a cedar lined closet in my room as a kid and I would sleep on the floor with me face near it, since I was not allowed to leave the door open.
I helped a friend cut down one of those fast-growing "some kinda tree" that was too close to his house, and when we did it, a couple pieces ended up looking like a pair of legs, complete with knee, so I kept it, and I've had the idea of making a sculpture for however many years, but haven't had the time to flesh it out. But I'm also an amateur carpenter so I obviously have a bin of random scrap wood as well as good pieces here and there. You can't just throw that away! It's for something, you just don't know what yet! And when you're doing a project and think "I need something about this size..." and find it in the bin... That's what the bin's for
You've given me some ideas for a channel with this effervescent posting. This is aside from a lass wielding sharp implements in their vehicle for purposes aside of intensions. The sheer innovation and showing of canine floofers are an inspiration for us old duffers watching on the sidelines! May your maple syrup gnoshings and axe weilding demonstrations endure and proliferate to greater heights and aspirations! You continue to inspire!
The mycelium in the ground and trees (by their roots) know that you are there as well. Not to mention all the creatures and critters that live in forest.
Nicole, every car built since 1/1/2002 has a glow in the dark emergency trunk/hatch release. It’s supposed to be in plain sight but early on some manufacturers hid them behind a panel or carpet. The US federal law technically only requires cars with trunks but many SUVs and hatchbacks have them as well. I’m not sure if this carried over to vehicles sold in Canada, but it’s worth a look. If your vehicle has it it’ll be a green/yellow glow in the dark T handle, pull and the trunk/hatch pops. Hope this helps!
Thank you for this very calm video! 😊 Often, when we had to have look at the trees (unfortunately there is a big problem with the Scolytinae), I was not told that the trees have eyes, but that the trees know and feel everything and that we have to take care of the forest as best we can.
