Hi, i am having similar update problems, on the rode central's fw update pop-up, mine says 1.1.0 > 0.0.0 with green check mark and dosen't let me update.
Did you happen to solve your issue?

I was having issues with it being recognized as well but I wasn't using the usb-C cord that came with the device. I didn't think it mattered but apparently you have to use that one. Were you using a different cable?

Glad I found your review. Question, I have the rode 5th gen mic and I use the usb-c connect. Is there a port on the streamer x for the usb-c mic? Thanks in advance.
There are 2 usb-c ports on the back, however I believe they are only used to connect the streamer x to multiple computers, not an input for microphones.
Did you get it up and running? I had the same issue closed everything the restarted the apps was able to update and rode central works just fine.
I still haven't had a chance to get back to troubleshooting, just been busy working, hopefully next week and can finally get back to setting it up.
Some of your points is why I ordered the Rodecaster Duo. Maybe after a few updates or they make the Stream X Pro it will be the one device to rule them all.
Yeah. I think a potential Streamer X version 2 will be more up my alley. I’m excited to see the Duo !! But gotta save my $$ 😂 Rode already took it on all my other products
I have an issue with echoes on my Rode X streamer audio and don't know how to get rid of it ?
I’m definitely selling mine. I purchased the Rode Duo and so far no issues with it.
I just got one of these the other day, connected to my PC. I am getting random black screens in OBS with it, firmware is updated, I have an R5C plugged in going through OBS in 4k30, during session last night recording it would black screen and come back, black screen come back, I switch to a 2nd wireless 4k R5 and switch back to the streamerX and I got the rode disconnected screen. Definitely seems like they have some issues with this hardware. I am also disappointed lol
I was finally able to get mine working .. didn't anticipate troubleshooting for so long. I've decided to replace my Streamer X with the Rodecaster Duo. I definitely thought I could benefit from the audio and video on one device, but maybe in their next version it will get better.
Did you plug in the power supply, think for the update you will need the power supply connected to the unit

Thanks for the Review, Rode might still have to make some fixes in the firmware. I still think the Streamer X is a great innovation though. Sorry for the trouble I can relate loll I hate when I have to spend nights figuring out something that should be as easy as .. let's connect and we are Live loll
As techies its our job to figure it out LOL .. I'm sure it'll be working sooner than later.
I had a similar firmware issue. It turned out to be a defective unit that needed to be replaced. When you connect the Streamer X to your computer or run the firmware update, check out the free space on the drive that appears. Mine only showed 88MB total space, but the firmware update was over 100MB. Maybe you are running into a similar issue?
My bigger complaint is the frequent USB disconnects. Almost daily now, I've had to unplug and power cycle the thing to get my computer to recognize it. It's very disappointing.
As for your USB problem, it could be that your Hub doesn't offer the right transfer speed. The Streamer X needs a very fast connection to be able to transfer 4K video; much faster than my Elgato card or ATEM.
I'm actually having the frequent USB disconnects on my Rodecaster Pro 2 ... wow, i thought it was just me! thanks for your input and suggestions, i'll check it out.
@@MonteWeaverofficial thankfully my RCP II has been rock solid for the last 6 months, unlike some they I see in the forums. RODE really needs to step up their quality control, though. They just don’t have the reliability I came to expect from them in the past.
I have that same issue with two units out of the box, both can't be updated, it won't even let me factory reset. Rode Central won't even see the unit for me to use or adjust settings. I did notice on the mounted drive it only had 80MB total, so the update goes half way and quits, then I get the Retry error.
More likely than not is the cable. Even if the cable works with other devices it may not work for the streamer x. Buying a new USB 3 cable might help.
This video has some age on it now, I've already sold this unit a while ago and unable to test. Thanks for the feedback though
May be power to the device.Some hubs don't support higher power output as well as may split it with everything else plugged in. I would try a 5v power in the (3rd) usbc from the wall and connect t the computer to the 1st usbc... i don't have one, so can't test, but sometimes when it doesn't have full power, it can 'kindof' work and be very mysterious.

Some of these issues are hardware / computer issues that might be particular to your setup. I have a Rode NT-USB Desktop USB Microphone. It works perfectly on my laptop but my desktop does not recognize it at all. Rode has that information on their website.
Rode reached out to me after uploading the video. They were more than willing to help me troubleshoot this issue. Seems to be common other issues for Mac users as well in live-streaming communities that I'm a member of. The Rode NT-USB is one of my favorite all time microphones! Have you ever tried Ecamm Live? That’s what I use, and I’m sort of confused why a one person set-up would even need a Rodecaster. I plug my audio and camera directly into my MacBook Pro and Ecamm does the rest. It seems like the point of a rodecaster would be you don’t need a computer.
Not sure if you're new to the channel, but I have different setups to show different possibilities. I've been live-streaming since 2016 and my go to platform is Wirecast but I've used ALL the platforms. Do I need a Rode Streamer X ... NOPE! it will just make the workflow better for recording content at this particular desk. The Rode Streamer X isn't necessary something I need but my channel is about live-streaming and equipment.
@@MonteWeaverofficial you’re a pro I get that, was asking in general terms. I see new podcasters go out and buy them and I never really understood the purpose when you can get started with your laptop as a new podcaster who may not be serious in the space
I wouldn’t recommend this for Podcasters … I think it’s better for someone that wants a simple capture card and audio interface.

I cannot update my streamer X to 1.1.9 . Can you help me guys anyone? ?? I tried all solution, but is the same issue Also, I cannot do factory rest 💔 what i must to do?
In these situations, i always recommend reaching out to the manufacturer for customer support.
I had similar issues with updating the firmware. But when I reinstalled a new version of Rode Central it worked.

So I had the same issue with connecting it to a hub. I thought it was my hub because I’ve been traveling and haven’t been home so I didn’t pay too much mind. That IS disappointing to hear that it won’t connect to your hub either.
Is it me or is it good to know as a "techie" that you're not the only "techie" that has the same issue as you. LOL I'm already looking forward to a Rode Streamer X v2 .. maybe a hyrid between the DUO and the Streamer X
If you're using logitech keyboard and mouse, you could pair both to one usb-receiver freeing up one usb-port. :)
Yep. You’re right. I have enough extra usb ports so not too big of a deal for me but thanks for reminding me of that solution.
Have you tried connecting via the native power supply that is included? Into the connector that says 5V 3A, and only then connect with another cable to the Mac mini
Below is the instruction
Powering the Streamer X
Plug the provided power supply into your wall outlet, and then connect it to the Streamer X’s USB-C port with the lightning indicator. It will automatically switch on when provided power. You can also power the Streamer X directly from your computer via the USB 1 port.
USB 1
This is the Streamer X’s primary USB port, and when connected, is used for sending and receiving video and audio data to your laptop or desktop computer. It can also be used to power the Streamer X if the power supply isn’t connected, provided your device can supply the appropriate level of power.
Maybe there just wasn't enough power…
All the troubleshooting was done in the video. I sold this unit about 1 weeks after recording this video.
As I'm pro level streamer on RUclips better to go with Rodecaster Pro 2 with Shure SM7b as I'm doing. Even if I don't use all feature of Rodecaster Pro 2, I feel that this new device is gonna limit me for most actions. Thanks for the review.
I've been live streaming since 2016 and produce live-streaming events. I also love my SM7B and Rodecaster Pro 2 ... as someone that tries to provide different live streaming scenarios, I definitely wanted to share this potential setup.

I sure hope Rode gets back to you on these issues. You have just proven why I never buy a new device when it just comes out until it gets over the initial bugs. I am waiting and watching until nobody complains of such things anymore. Then I am going to get one. Right now I also have the rodecaster pro one and a blackmagic mini. Takes up too much space. And I only have half the size of your desk

I just received the email last night before heading to sleep for a good nights rest. I haven’t even had a chance to email them back yet 🤣 to acknowledge it. I’ll be doing some client work today so I’m not even sure when I’ll be at the studio to start troubleshooting again with them. ( it’s not high on priority list at the moment ) … I’ll do my best to make an update video.

Sharing the problem. Just found out, that it might be because the iPad, MacBook, Laptop recognizes the RodeX as a headset (output) device. Am looking for a way to change that, but no solution yet.
When trying to connect it to Android it is applying "charging" option only, refusing to switch to "data transfer".
So far I have not been able to use the device as it is not recognized by any system (Mac, Win, iOS, Android) conclusion - I am very disappointed. Will send it back.
Finally, Rode sent me a reply. The device will only connect to USB C 3.0 It will not work with tablets or iPads or older USB ports and it must be connected with the cable they supplied.

@@MonteWeaverofficial found a solution - yeah! The Rode Streamer X needs to be connected to the computer with the cable that comes with the package. However this is a USB C connector. My "old" Laptop only has a USB A connetor. But not any cable will do the connection. Most cables around will be "charging only". So I purchased a specific hight speed data cable - and it works flawlessly! So far happy with it and canceled sending it back. In contrary I am very happy to own such a portable device. I have a huge 100W power pack and can use this to power feed the device as well as some other devices needed in a videostream of an event or a podcast. Great to be so mobile.
