- Enjoy some driver's eye footage (well almost driver's eye) from my 2020 test in Barcelona as we prepare for the new season. This was a used tire run from the morning of Day 2. Really enjoying the new Evo kit which has updated aero and new gear ratios.

Watching and listening to this confirms just how good ACC is. I just finished a long race with the Ferrari and the sound and is so spot on.
I always drive the Ferrari to, but in real life it sounds a little different imo
I was thinking the same thing, ACC nailed it. Feels like one could just hop in the real thing and drive with confidence haha

Man, motorsport for sure envolves stress. You show the beautiful part for us and only you know the daily challenges. But I ask you to enjoy deeply every lap you can for all of us who not have any chance. You are blessed to have a job like that. And thanks for sharing part of the experience with us. It's scary to see how the sims can be so close to reality, as a VR user I am impressed after watching this real footage, how close Assetto can be.
I've been watching this side by side with a Ferrari at Barcelona in ACC and its nuts how identical they are.
What graphics settings are these? I can't seem to get my ACC looking anything like this.

This is a car that I never drive for particular reasons but it doesn't take a lot of knowledge to admit that the gears are way too long for this track. By the time he reached 6th gear, he had to brake to take the first corner. Shortening the gears allows the car to take full advantage of all the torque without wasting one bit of it. I'm not sure about professionals but we sim racers are very meticulous with everything that is going on with the car. We are obsessed with perfection all the time and that's always the key towards success.
Read the rules… gear ratios are fixed in GT3 cars 😂

@@pentilex4338 I think they add the tire squeal sound in Gran Turismo for extra feedback as to what the car is doing.
Kep I disagree, I think GT Sport has really good FFB
The scrubbing sound of the tyres is there in the video, it's just not screechy, it's more a grindy sandpapery sound. It's not super prevalent though here mainly because I assume the engineers have the setup (camber, pressures, etc) set really well for the track, and Dave being the experienced man he his, knows right where that line is and how far he can push the traction. I saw very little input from TCS except in a few of the low speed turns.

I really wish sims and games would take a look at videos like this. We don't need a steering wheel in our face. You barely see it in this one. Mostly when you are turning. Excellent run :D
My GoPro zoom wasn’t accurate. You can definitely see the wheel in real life 😂
Some One, its not quite the same. It is recommended to use a low fov, which means wheel is in your face, because it makes things the right size and because of that, helps with depth perception that isnt really there with a monitor.
LoL I'm taking a dig at David :D I know he is bombarded with FoV questions in his channel. Coming in at just under 6 foot, when I sit in a car, even a racing or sports car, I tend to sit a bit higher than most. I understand that the steering wheel is there, but tuned out from years of looking around or through it :D

Unfortunately not possible for two reasons: 1) rules say we cannot put camera on helmet at race weekends 😭 and 2) the GoPro battery is terrible 😂

I did notice the overboost warning consistently on the shift between 2-3, and occasionally on 1-2. Something the engineers have to work out in tuning the wastegates?
Overboost happens when you short shift, no dramas:))

This POV isn’t correct, it’s too high relative to my eyes. In the sim videos it’s still closer to what I’m actually seeing 🙈
@@DavidPerel I know you are actually a professional driver and sits in the real car, but, the mirror shows that is the right height though. And cam is fixed laterally of your eyes, isn't it? I know that because with VR you can check by yourself the real POV. Anyway, love your videos matte.
@@rockerbauer Ciao mate, no this camera came from the top of my helmet and was about 3cm above my eyes and about 1.5cm forward from my head. The real eye view is definitely lower and further away.

Would you happen to recall from the video any points where your eyes/head move(s) to browse or seek out visual references during your driving, i.e. looking at the dash at all or braking or turn in points on the track?
