Moving firewood with pallet forks on Komatsu PC16 mini excavator

- I had to buy firewood because our heat pump broke down for no reason at all (AC you rock!) and we use a lot more now when it’s the only heat source. I found a guy that had good quality firewood and he puts it on pallets so it’s much easier for me to handle it at home. As always I had some small failures along the way. Thank you for watching!

Weld 2 large hooks on something heavy, like 200 Kilos. Pick it up and lift it from the ground with the dozer shield. Turn the cabin around 180. You now have a counterweight and operating the forks will be a breeze without the constant shaking of the entire machine. Move closer to the load, keep it low. You'll think you have a forklift.
Good idea! I have actually contemplated adding a counterweight but as it lifts as much as it can “balance” it seemed unnecessary. However, the stability while drinking I did not take into consideration so I might have to rethink it. Thanks!
@@NilsKall Yes it is when you start moving the machine or breaking that the instability is worst.

Thanks! It would be nice to be able to lift a couple of hundred KG more but that kind of excavator is also much wider and the one I have fits perfect to my patio. It’s dads car, not PHEV but 2.2 diesel so it can tow 1990 Kg. He is very happy with it and he just bought a new big trailer for it. I borrowed a BMW X5 45e plug in hybrid for this journey, it can tow 2700kg (with the right drivers license) maybe the new X3 hybrid could be an option for you, haven’t seen the tow weight numbers for it yet but it should match the Volvo. Did you fabricate your forks?
No i bought them. Would not dare to lift with homemade forks. Here is my first video of when I got them.

Just keep the load on the excavator as low to the ground as possible, it will safeguard you from tipping over.

@@nickorango Det har fungerat toppenbra, använder gafflarna väldigt ofta, mycket mer än skoporna. Jag lyfter ibc pallar med hästgödsel och de väger nästan så mycket som grävaren orkar
lyfta.

@@nickorango svenska redskapsfabriken. Utan pallgafflarna så hade jag haft väldigt begränsad nytta av grävaren så jag tror inte du kommer ångra ett köp (fast de har blivit mycket dyrare nu såg jag)

Couldn't hear the tractor with all that really loud music that was totally unnecessary.
In what segment? When you use timelapse on GoPro there is no sound recorded so no sound from the excavator to be heard. I have not used iMovie for the music before so perhaps it was a bit unbalanced, your feedback is greatly appreciated!
@@NilsKall perhaps the time lapse software or equipment that you use has no sound but I have watched a lot of videos where the time lapse was obviously sped up and so was the audio and it was funny and entertaining to hear the fast audio.
Kerry Ware could be, not on the go pro though. I have to admit i hate when the sound is speed up to so I wouldn’t use that even if it was a opportunity. But the question for you is if the music was louder than the other sound in then video (when I didn’t use time lapse) Regards Nils
@@NilsKall a short piece of music that's not loud in the opening credits I don't mind but I can't stand music during the video at all. If I want to hear music I'll watch music videos. what I expect to hear is the sound of the equipment it's being operated or the sounds of nature that are alive at the time of recording or something similar.
there's already hundreds of videos that I can't watch because of the annoying music that has nothing to do with the video. I mention this to other people on RUclips and they say that most people like the music but a lot of people don't like it and they don't want to say anything because they're not supposed to say something unless it's nice.
in a national poll it was determined that only one out of every 27 people that are unhappy will ever say anything. That means for every disagreeable comment you see there's at least 26 other people to feel the same way that don't say anything.
Kerry Ware ok thanks for the feedback, I’ll keep it in my mind, perhaps I will do some videos with and some without music. I like music in the videos myself but apparently some don’t and it’s much easier to do a video without it. As I have mentioned with my equipment there is no sound recording during time laps and I think this is the way it is for most people unless they speed up the video during editing. This probably is why so many videos have music in them.
