    Some piece of kit. Im just learning and hoping to start my own gardening business. Im no where near where i need to be. But i want to specialise in lawns and driveway cleaning. Im out of work due to covid through no fault of my own. I was doing gardens with a Flymo and an electric strimmer my neighbour gave me. I just managed to buy my first Honda petrol powered lawnmower and a beast of a Honda petrol powerd strimmer
    with cutting blades with wee cash in hand jobs i got with my wee flymo and strimmer and and wee electric hedge cutter. I am now saving towards a petrol powered Honda patio cleaner. After that a van etc Thanks for the videos as i'm learning so much just by listening in. I just want to make a success of my life and not rely on handouts from Government or food banks etc. I will keep supporting channel and when i can i will save up and come over from Scotland to Belfast as i have friends in the Ballyduff i can stay with and perhaps i can come and see ye and thank you myself. All the best Robbie.

    I used to use a machine called the Mosquito made by a Dutch company. Its basically a big wire brush with a motor. Its really for cleaning along kerbs.
    I found it very hard to use and I'd always be knackered after using it.
    I do have a 10hp BCS tractor that I normally use for a stone burrier or rotovater, but using it with a power brush looks a lot easier.

    My driveway is a bit tatty, I already tried the pressure washer on one spot. Cleaned it fine, but also dislodged a bunch of stones and was looking like it would strip the tarmac around the one or two "pot holes" in it. So I stopped.
    I tried with the rotating patio cleaner attachment, which seemed a lot gentler and keeps the mess down, but...
    Because it's a steep drive way, with the neighbours right beside it... if I start doing the drive with the washer, by the time I am done, the street will be a lake of debris and mud. I'll have to spend the rest of the day cleaning that up with a brush and power washer to push it all the way to the street drain.
    Your approach of dry treating it sounds much more like my style. The hard work then becomes brushing it all up, which without the water should just be a matter of pushing it all to the bottom, stacking it and shovelling it into a bin.
    Proper grade chemicals should help too!

    Hi mate, hope you guys are well! I'm looking into buying a mechanical brush for moss removal on mainly tarmac- would you still recommend this style of machine? I've been looking at both these and the Westermann type (sweeper), have you ever tried this? I know Scott (SE landscapes) uses a sweeper style but the only issue is the heads tend to be smaller and therefore a large driveway/car park would take ages and you'd need arms like PopEye! Many thanks

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  Год назад

      I tried the westerman brush last year, I booked in three jobs with it and hired one out. We did all three jobs and not one client got invoiced as it wasn't up to the task. I was pretty pissed off about it as the hire company still charged me and I had a days labour for me and my helper...
      I spoke to Westermann about it and they said there must be something wrong with it. Most of the people I know that have one either don't use them or it seems many sell them on...
      Your best bet is to get a driveway that needs done and ask for a demo, that's what I would do. Scott's machine may be slower, but seems to work well

I have purchased some Sodium Hypo along with a product from Pure Seal called NU Clear. I have also bought some Bac 50 Benzachlorium Chloride which is also a Biocide. . When would you use Sodium Hypo and when would you use Bac 50 ? what is the difference between the 2 as they are both classed as Biocides. Will they both remove Moss and algae etc ? The only thing I have found out when reading up on the products on what does what and when 1 product might be useful and 1 not is Sodium Hypo is a bleach and Bac 5o is not. Any Help on this matter would be hugely appreciated.

      Washing up powder does work, the trouble is the runoff from it (pollution). It also has a high salt content and the algae will re-grow faster as the salt is a food source for it.

    • @tracmasterltd

      There are not any wire bristles in the standard brushes. We did sell a wire bristle option for a while but did not find them anymore effective. The polyproplene bristles are fairly thick and aggressive on the brush so do a pretty good job by themselves.

      Hi John
      The moss is slippery and is causing a hazard around the house.
      The way we did it was to clean/brush the surface first, this method minimises the use of chemicals.

    • @Premier_lawns_official

      It wouldn't do a great job at cleaning up block paving, there are machines out there with steel bristles and are much harder on the surface that are designed for that sort of thing

    • @tracmasterltd
      @tracmasterltd 4 года назад +1

      Its actually not too bad on block paving. It will clear moss but not weeds from block paving. You just have to move in line with the paving lines.
