Thanks for the video and the route map, I've sailed that area many times, but haven't done that route. A couple of tips for others watching (as I'm sure you don't need this tip 9 years later). Get in the habit of throwing windward line first. Once that is secure you are basically safe. If you need to muscle the bow round, with the windward attached you can "dutch sprong" with forward drive and helm to wind to pull you up wind and stop you parking on your neighbour.

nice videos sir.if you go reverse full speed in a situation like this you need to use the free-fall of the ancker instead of the windlash because it slows u down and drops the thermal protection fuse of the windlash.drop anker at correct position go back some meters tight the the anker so that it drags and digs through the bottom until the chain tights then use the free fall again to go astern to moor. happy sailing

Was there good reasoning for going full reverse (as it caused a bit of an anchor problem)? You could have put the bow into the wind and in turn the wind would set it straight. Ie under-steer the bow and let the wind do the rest.

did you put a windward stern line and then go forward, steering to starboard? at some point the bow should've come around and off the other boat

The problem caused from the idiots with the starboard-sternline. Three idiots try to help and bring on the trouble.
There is no way to control the bow without a fixed windward sternline.
A windward sternline and forward gear is all you need to stabilize the vessel against the wind.

that yacht harbor is notorious for bad holding on the outside quay and crossing anchor lines. If your not sure how to go stern to especially in high winds, just stay away and anchor off. I have seen so many boats smashing into the quay year after year.

Never been to Greece but I have a question: i have not seen nor fresh water supply nor electricity on those docks, so what's actually the point in mooring in places without lazy lines, with all the risks and concerns, Just to have noisy neighbor around? Isn't Better to stay at bay?

Next time you must learn to release the windlass so the anchor chain goes down much faster.
