Love that you are keeping it real. Many of us, especially us older folks are watching these videos to see if it’s something we can actually do. A friend wants me to do it with her in 2 years, I’ll be 61 then and am more of a flat ground walker than up mountains. The honest reporting is really helpful.
If I can do it, anyone can do it. But I think it's definitely true that the more fit you are the more fun you'll have. If you train, you'll be fine! and even if you don't train, you'll huff and puff, but you'll make it... Thank you for watching!
This has been absolutely bonkers series, so big thank to you! We did the hike with my friend in 2023 mid July and this is just nostalgic to remember all the great views and people we met, and on the other hand those struggles, occasional whinings and constant aches accumulating on to go. We were camping all the way, so backpacks were pretty heavy. But it was all worth it! Our mantra on hard uphills was that there are people who run this hole route in 19h, so what are we complaining about :D
I really enjoyed your honesty about the trail as you are so correct most other videos seem to show TMB as easy as. And like the humour behind the comments..so so funny.
This is for the specific info on huts and food/beer on the trail. Appreciate wanting the hotel over huts as we have a nice mix. Nice to hear the pros/cons from your perspective. Thanks!
I can’t thank you enough for your honesty. I plan to do this hike in 2026 with my son and his partner. I will be 63 and I know this will probably be the hardest thing I will have ever done but hoping the reward will outlast the pain. I’m not super fit and I have a desk job which doesn’t help but I plan to do as much hiking here in PA as I can to get myself in shape. Again thank you I have really enjoyed your humor, the beautiful drone footage and I look forward to your videos.
It truly was the most difficult thing physically I've ever experienced. But after a few days - it definitely starts to normalize (a little). PA has some amazing state forests - I had no idea until I did a motorcycle ride through there on the Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery route. PA is gorgeous!
I feel identified with all of you. We are not gods, just simple mortals who must overcome challenges. It is true that there are complaints but they are made with good humor and irony 😂. This is not a teletubbies video in which everything is wonderful and happy, it is a video of improvement in which you have good and not so good moments. Congratulations
Beautiful again !!!! The views the honesty, the jokes, it's all graet. I fell on my way to Champex Lac (we did it clockwise) and I thought my trek was over. A miracle happened and I could continue and finish.
I appreciate your honesty and the aside at the end! This was our exact experience -- bliss and agony. Thank you for showing what it's like for the normies!
Another fun, if tragic episode. We seem to be all enjoying your commentary, Jen is awesome. Malena is a real trooper. Note to self - dinner out if staying at Relais d'arpelle. Goodness that sounds awful, I know you said it wasn't bad, but it just sounds awful after that long wet tough hike! Can't wait to see Episode 8!
Yeah - that place was pretty great but the food felt a little bit cafeteria. It wasn't all that cheap either! If I were doing it again - I'd 100% stay down in the town by the lake and avoid that useless hill climb. You just have to climb back down to hit the trail in the morning... and getting up there wasn't fun!
Strange how your hotel is clearly signed as “Relais d’Arpelle” and your video dutifully notes it as such … yet it’s on Chemin d’AArpette on the route to Fenetre d’Arpette, and all maps and listings I see show it as Relais d’Arpette?
I like the honesty and how you also make fun of your own faulty pronunciation of all the French and Swiss towns. I know the TMB is pretty tough. I did the entire classic loop in 8 days last summer. Seeing that you stayed at Relais 'd'Arpette you got me wondering if you guys did the variant "Fenêtre d'Arpette" which is one of the most interesting but also toughest variants. Anyway, keep up the good work with the video's!
I am the worst at guessing how to pronounce pretty much anything. 8 days?! You must have been flying. After the Col des Fours we made sure to stay on the main route! Fenêtre d'Arpette looks awesome though...
I wish you luck in this channel's quest to actualize your mission statement with minimal downside. Just a little corporate vomit-speak to let you know I am here.

Your 'normal people' hike and commentary gives me much joy...Bravo!
Thanks for watching!

Oh wow! Glad you were able to go on!

Without the agony the bliss wouldn't be as good...
I’ll take the “real life” over the “Best highlights” videos any day. I really like your content and I appreciate your drone view of the lake.
Appreciate it!
Love seeing the complain-y reality! There are plenty of videos on the beautiful side of it, so it's nice to get a balanced view. ;)
Telling it like it is!

Hey, no need for apologies. Nothing wrong with telling it like it is. At least you weren't smoking cigarettes while hiking uphill!
