I love it when Mel asks Shelton Resnick (20:33) that he seems kind of old to be going to Central Tech--and Shelton says "I'm 32"--are you taking a night course? No I'm just trying to meet some girls" LOL
Dave Thomas & Rick Moranis deserve more credit for their humor & contribution to entertainment in general. I saw SCTV periodically as a kid, but I don't know that it had a regular broadcast in the U.S. Maybe I was just too busy being a kid to know.
It didn't get aired everywhere. I think I saw a few bits of it randomly on NBC when that version of it was happening, but it went off the air before I could find out what it was, and didn't really get to watch it until 1988 when this edition of the show was airing on Nick at Nite in a block with early SNL and Laugh-in.
Thank you for posting these. I have everything I can get on DVD which is not nearly enough! Seeing full episodes I watched as a kid and have not seen in a long long time is quite a treat.
Jackie Stewart used to do color commentary for racing by saying things like: He's taking the shecain!! and the drivers are sucking each other around the track!!!😆😆😆
I love the pause by Eugene And I'm Earl ...cannenbear lol I know I spelled it wrong but he's a true genius and also joe flarety they were there from day 1
Dave Thomas is amazing. Bob Hope and Richard Harris-I could watch him all day.
The real commercials are just as funny as the SCTV parodies!
Oh man that's one of there best skits ever the Richard Harris song still makes me laugh 😂
Now I've got to look up a live version of the actual Harris song to see what he does in the instrumental part.
@@noneofyourbusiness4616 He gets a brick thrown at him!
Neil Young skit bloody nails it - will never listen to Needle and Damage Done again the same way haha
Yeah, especially when Rick Moranis' take makes Neil Young sound like Mickey Mouse with clinical depression.

The old commercial clips are fantastic
Best talent ensemble the past 40 years ...gold 🥇

"Richard Harris" bit is better than the actual "Richard Harris!"
I always liked the synthesizer intro to The SCTV News.

Andrei Gromyko looks like Glenn Ford
It's got that combination of austerity and alertness which is reminiscent of BBC in that era

Not to mention that cutie in the red top.
This music HAS to be cleared for DVD/Blu-ray release!
I love that Americans got to enjoy this show too
Only because SNL was in a low point in the early 1980s and not everyone liked "Fridays".
@@canaisyoung3601 I wonder if they liked Thursdays more than Fridays 😄
@@bittmanbobby Eh.
As an American I can say, ME TOO! 😃
Thanks, Canada.
Every time I hear McArthur Park I think of the old Lou Gorden show out of Detroit back in the 70s. That was their theme song. 🎵
OMG That's Idela Voudry on girl vocal!
This show has been a crock lol!! Love SCTV ❤❤❤❤❤

Canton, Ohio was home to Hoover vacuum cleaners, until the Chinese took over everything.
Hey, baby, what's happening?
Thank you very much.
Who threw that brick 😂
Like Soul Train
Dave Thomas rocks!
The Soviet troops "vacationing" in Yemen sounds just like something the Russians would pull today.
American troops have been vacationing in Germany, Poland, Iraq, Afghanistan, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, etc etc etc...
@@olliefoxx7165 It's true they cause a lot of problems.
Love Angus crock
Is West Palm Beach a suburb of Melonville?
Yes, definitely!
It borders on Lake Ontario and Lake Couchiching
Is Entertainment Tonight still a thing? Mary Hart-,induced epileptic seizures were not fun.
