    I've seen a few of these PhDs do sit down with other youtubers, but the relationship is different. Here there is mutual respect. For the others there is...a professor/student relationships.

    Love Q & A stuff. Training volume while cutting hit me between the eyes. Sometimes use that as an excuse to back off a little. No more!!! So here I go headed toward "crossing that line." My 2 cent worth on IF. Works fine for me. ;My mind isn't always exposed to food so it's easier to keep my body away from it. Food shouldn't be used as a reward but just for fuel for the engine.

    Something I know with my body is when I diet I do drop my volume slightly, however I tend to increse my intensity on my sets and follow more of a Yates style routine vs off season where I do more of a Lee Priest volume approach. This year however I packed on a solid 20lbs and noticed when my strength increased as much as it has that I get better results from lots of warm ups, say 6 per exercise but 2 heavy hard sets. So Im still doing 8-10 sets per exercise because my warm ups have become so heavy. I also adjusted my heavier warm ups to do a few more reps than what I used to do. As an example my bench bar 20 reps, 95lbs 20 reps, 135 20 reps, 185 10 reps, 225 10 reps, 275 6 reps, 315 4 reps 345 8 reps, 345 6 reps. Last 2 sets balls to wall and might do rest past for 2 more reps each.

    the idea of fasting is that the body reacts differently to "no food" vs "constant low energy feeding" - and it makes sense from a biological point of view; when there is no food available your body needs full power available to be able to "hunt and gather" - when the food is dripping the problem is (from the body's perspective) a bit different because now there is food available, but just not enough of it so it turns down the engine power and digesting it's own muscle and other tissues to compensate, and this is the reason why (apart from the insulin argument) many fasting scientist would argue that losing weight through time restricted feeding is probably better (more efficient and more metabolically healthy) than restricting energy spread out on 4-6 meals:)

    intermittent fasting deponds 100% on the metabolic flexibility of the individual. an inflexible person will be much more catabolic and have much higher ampk. someone with a good flexibility will not be as catabolic or maybe not catabolic at all.
    also intermittent fasting makes you more metabolic flexible and improves autophagie. and good functioning autohpagie improves muscle protein synthesis.

    Yes .
    And i even know some bros w some “spare tires” who seem to have a high pancake receptor genetic potential.....
    They consistently tend to be in a loading phase.
    For those who are unfamiliar w the term spare tire : thats (around the waist)

    What about IF for controlling insulin?

    • @jeremysommerfeldt101
      @jeremysommerfeldt101 6 лет назад +1

      You can control insulin through carb manipulation. Insulin is just one hormone to keep an eye on when dieting: Testosterone, GH, leptin, glucagon, tsh/t3/t4...

    volume , 30 - 45 set per muscle group a week best to muscle growth ?

    • @davidthomas9960
      @davidthomas9960 6 лет назад +1

      shorsh amid It would appear that way but it depends on the individual. Ideally you should taper up your volume from lower numbers (10-15 sets per week) and monitor your progress/recovery to see what is optimal for you.

    • @jeremysommerfeldt101
      @jeremysommerfeldt101 6 лет назад +2

      Different muscles can tolerate different volumes but most people do not need more than 30 sets a week on s given muscle. 15-20 is more average especially when natural. It takes years to work up to 30+ sets a week

    Wow the doc is way off on the body types in training! Your body type dictates your workout and your diet. 12 reps to an endomorph is far different on how 12 reps on an ectomorph 12 reps would make the ectomorph look way to thin. You must find what body type you are and what mix . As a trainer myself I can do it by sight. See my book the 10 commandments of weight control. I like and agree with most of what you teach i have been training for 50 years
