- @TheActualDarkness Only Live video of this song in Sydney as I was the "official" videographer
Featuring their opening act Southern River Band from Perth Australia
@JustinHawkinsRidesAgain
Vids from their most recent Sydney show have been posted ruclips.net/video/wZYPIs9hs34/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Justin letting only one person record in their phone is just brilliant. It saves the performance for archival purposes whilst still getting folks to enjoy the actual show. 10/10, best phone ban I’ve ever seen in my life
He did this in Melbourne too and as soon as everyone put their phones away the entire vibe changed and the whole crowd was finally enjoying the show in the moment, not through their phones.
jack white policy is no phones - twas my fave concert in 2022
Can't stand phones in concerts, completely spoils the moment
Greatest fake voice of all time. It’s all falsetto pretending to be Freddie Mercury. This was the end of rock… in the 2000s… when they pumped this crap over radio to try and force everyone into thinking it was good.
@@DS-nw4eq fake voice hahahah had a pretty successful career for a fake voice. Having seen them live 5 times, there's nothing fake about it!
This is so awesome!! I’m short so tired of watching most show’s via someone’s phone screen even after standing in line!!
Venue: How many guitarists do you have?
The Darkness: Yes.
Lmao yeah what's going on with that???
All of them
@@jpak8 Its Cal Kramer on the White Les Paul as a guest
@@aydenjames738 What about the extra bassist?
@@jpak8 didn't he say that the guys from the opening act joined them for this song?
Bruh, this is how the 90's was for me. No phones, just people jumping, dancing, headbanging, moshpitting and all sorts of shit.
Everyone's just enjoying the moment.
Mine started in 1979, Thin Lizzy then a hundred other concerts.. the golden age was before mobile phones.
This literally made me tear up. How the whole crowd changed and the energy just went ballistic. This, my friends, is how a concert SHOULD be! Living in the moment! Awesome!
yeah when i go to concerts i take a few pictures of the venue and maybe one or two of the band (just to have ig) but i much prefer to just enjoy the concert :D
Almost 20 years later and Justin's STILL hitting those freakishly high notes...crazy!
I’m not even a fan of the darkness but got into Justin’s channel by mistake and that brought me here to the coolest thing that could happen at a show… props to nick who has then smashed it with a fantastic video!
You're not alone exactly how I ended up here haha
Me three 👍
Me four
I would suggest even *better* than an official vid could have achieved -as it was the 1st person crowd perspective. The real deal.
Same here lol
Genuinely don’t think Justin quite realises how much regard he is held in after his huge contributions to the Taylor Hawkin’s tributes❤
A friend of mine went to one of the Wembley shows and he said Hawkins was the best one there. He doesn't even particularly like the Darkness but said his performance was sublime.
I wondered if that was him at the Taylor Hawkins tribute. Thank you!
its amazing how the crowds falsetto pitch improved when the phones when away
Can't say that I've ever been a "fan" of The Darkness or Justin, but man, that guy is a prime entertainer... and his admonishing of the crowd and appointment of Nick as "official" photog is something every concert should do as a rule... give a leg up to some random person in the crowd, and make a move back to why we all started to go to shows in the first place: the communal sharing of a performance.
Plus, Justin's YT channel is a damn good one.
Holy shit, I L O V E that he (and finally someone) adressed this normopathic thing with the phones in a crowd.
And the crowd loved it too! :)
2:03 brought me to tears... Finally an actual crowd actually enjoying a concert!
Justin is a legend.
I love “normopathic”! Where you come across that? 😂
Totally agree
Me too
Martin from Boyslikegirls has been doing this since the 10 year tour of their debut album.
He'll do verse chorus of the great escape, stop, make sure everyone got their snappy chats and Grammy grams, then have everyone put their phones away ND restart the song.
99% compliance, but there's always that 1 asshole that films anyway.
@@MattFoleysGhost fantastical word!
Wow, see the whole vibe change...for the better! Good job Nick
Wow! I heard about this. Found it by accident. This deserves a million views. He's such a great frontman!
Thank you nick for also get footage of the crowd dancing
I lived through the golden age… before mobile phones when at Donnington watching Iron maiden, kiss, guns and roses etc 137,000 rock fans were all jumping up together with no mobiles.. just like this.. and a hundred other concerts .. todays fans just video it and actually miss the show!!!! Wouldn’t it be great to have no phones at all at concerts .
NO other band can get a crowd going like The Darkness can!!! Justin Hawkins is and will forever be one the the greatest frontmen ever!!!
Yo Nick. You killed it! Great job!!! 🤘🏼
Absolutely!
Cool as shit, need more of this no phone shit. When I first started going to concerts Axl Rose would jump in the crowd and take your camcorder.
What a great audience! You hardly ever see a crowd go nuts like that these days.
It was only for that song. That the whole audience was like that.
apart from the twat that said "no one cares!" right before everyone wooped and proved they did care, cause they're not twats
You should look up the band Turnstile. They're entire shows are like this. More moshing tho
Alexisonfire has this all the time. Their concert was very old school mentality for sure.
@@AndyBizzzle this is true. AOF kills it live.
Salute to you Mr Hawkins. Live life, don’t miss out because you’re too busy recording it for social media.
That's a way a gig should be. No mobile phones just the crowd going mental and having a great time.
We as a whole need to be more in the moment, as much as we can. Our Time is short.
No phones....thank god ! Amazing stuff. Proper crowd living in the moment !!
The respect for Justin from the crowd is incredibly heartwarming. You could argue that if they really respected the band then they wouldn’t have had their phones out in the first place, but the fact that everyone put their phones away the second Justin asked is just beautiful. 💖 The atmosphere looks phenomenal without phone screens all over the place!
So much respect to him getting most people to stop filming. Wish all artists would do this.
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I mention to someone that I went to a show the other night, I have NEVER, EVER been asked to see a cell phone video of the event.
Absolutely love Justin Hawkins and the Darkness, and this moment in particular. So many people forget to get lost in the moment because they are too busy recording a ‘live’ moment to watch on TV after the event. Put the phones away and lose yourself, and make the memory that you can reflect on. So good to see Justin stop this and start again with everyone in the moment, and what a difference it makes…
If I record it will be from my favourite songs from said band and I will only record like 30-40 seconds max
Thanks Nick'👌🏼
The Darkness turned everybody’s lights on! Well done the band and well done Australia’s best filmmaker Nick.🤘🎸🇦🇺🥇
I'd much rather have felt the experience than seen it. Bravo Justin. What a mood shift after!!
That's a bit of audience participation I've never seen before. Pretty damn awesome!
That actually makes sense to have an official videographer who will share the recordings for free
Hey Nick thanks for the "Official Video" 😁😎 You did it great! Love how you made good balance between filming band and the fans. Greetings from Europe from Poland I really like video.
Thanks Nick ! !
This is amazing... A lot of people just miss the full experience by only looking at the screen
Big ups Nick, you really captured the mood and energy that night. It was awesome to be in there in that room.
Omg I was at this show. Nick! The designated filmographer! Such a great idea! Put my phone away and let Nick handle it. Now I can watch here.
Didn't get it when I first heard this song 20 years ago. Now I do. Funny how time can wise you up
What a crowd, pure energy for the band delivering an even better show 👏🏼
I bet the lass screaming "no one cares" changed her mind pretty quick. He did the same thing in Brisbane but didn't have to stop it. What a moment!
I hug the edge of getting to experience concerts just before cell phones came out and now. The electricity of a crowd that is invested in the show is indescribeable. Miss those days.
This video gave me hope for humanity.
that’s how it should be👏🏻how pure and joyful that show looked without phones is just an indicator of what those little devices does to our world. removes a little bit of the that innate love for life when we live through them. put down the phones, enjoy the moment with all your senses wholly💙
Justin, this was magic. Well done. Rockers: take note. That crowd at @2:03 was insane, the way a rock concert should always be!
🤘🤘🤘
YES! That's the crowd everyone wants to be in for every concert. Worth the price of a ticket when the crowd is magic!
i was there that night , it was awesome
The ENERGY is palatable. And I truely do believe in A Thing Called Love.
I was to young to see them in Auckland, but I made them some necklaces and they sent me a thank you video. They are such awesome people!
Well that's one of the sweetest things ever.
Too right brother! Glad I got to see live shows back before cell phones man.
My personal proto for filming at a concert is that I like to take two to three pictures from my seat just so I can remember where I sat and what it looked like around me and all that, and _maybe_ one ten or fifteen second video of any random portion of the show. After those two things, which takes about 30 seconds to accomplish tops, I put the phone totally away and just try to be entirely present within that moment. I want to experience the show with every fiber of my being. However, I really do appreciate having a couple snapshots and a clip or two of the show just for posterity sake. You'd be amazed at how easily you can transport yourself back to a concert just by seeing your POV from your seat, and that's really all you could ever ask for and need. Anything more than those few establishing shots is just a total waste in every way. You're never going to go back to listen to a full live song that you videoed at a concert. Never. Just get your posterity shots and enjoy the show how it's meant to be enjoyed!
Killer! What an experience for Nick...well done to the Darkness for getting everyone in the audience to be present and in the moment! That looked and sounded epic 🤘🤘
Immediately the vibe changed for the better, soon as the phones were put away. This needs to be done more 👌🏻
At least I know they played this on my birthday even though it was across the world.
I like that he didn't just tell everyone to put their phones away or worse walk off. One guy can record it and put it out there. That's enough.
Holy shit, this is incredible and heartwarming as fuck!
Look at the crowd GO!!!! 🤘🎵🎶
Heeeey I was there for this!!!!!
What a fun time. SRB with the Darkness.
Ahhh...like the old days.Much better.Love your work Nick.👍👍
This is the most wonderful thing ever! :D haha
This was a great moment and I am so thrilled I was there - I even managed to make an appearance in this video! One of the best gigs I've ever been to and I'm off to see Southern River Band this weekend.
LOL! MORE COWBELL!!!!!! awesome. callin into belfast sometime!
The only lead singer ive seen crowd surfing what a show..Thebby2023
So, you're the chosen one... congrats !
This is such a good idea!! The crowd got into the song after he made you the official videographer. SUPER COOL!!!!
Yeah! He put one bloke (kid ) in charge , and put a stop to the rest of it…
(And the reality of documenting the moment still exists out there.)
Zodiac Mindwarp, The Darkness & Steel Panther! I love them! P.S. Buckcherry too...
Thanks for capturing this Nick , your a champion , it was such a magic moment at a really magic night one of the best concerts I’ve been to with The Darkness bringing it up to the next level. Well done.
I love the way the space was explored with this cowbell. It could have used more cowbell, if I'm honest
Right on Nick I think every band should do this, it takes me back to 89 seeing The Crue and the early 90’s when I saw Skid row and Guns n Roses at Eastern creek.
They did the same thing in Melbourne. With pretty much the same result. Epic gig. The Darkness have really come a long way. Their Melbourne show was the best I've seen, and I've seen them several times. More power to them.
Brilliant…every band should make this a must do….everyone was completely agreeable
GOOOOOSEEEEE BUMzzzzzzzzzz everythime Nick put the lense to the crowd .... OMGggggggggg
Real 80s cannon drum mix. This is the real treat seeing it live.
Isn't this the coolest thing ever!!!
How much better did that experience seem after he told all of them to put their phones away and bounce... gotta live in the moment folks!
Rock-n-Roll lives !
Bout time. I've commented this in so many vids. Justin a real one. 💯
2:03 that's how you want your crowd to be, absolutely amazing vibe and energy!
Justin is so smart!!! I wish he could tell the world too!!
Well Nick, that was amazing. Keep following that unknown band!
Nick, you are a scholar and a gentleman. That filming was top notch. A better man/woman/child could not have been selected. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve seen the Darkness live twice. But I need to see them again soon. So so good.
always a great time..what a performer
Great camera work from the official videographer!
2:03 is an absolutely epic moment in time.
Wow, what a great performance!! The crowd is hyped!!
Warms the cockles this. There is hope!
Well done Nick, thanks for sharing! Loved them in Perth and SRB rocked too!
Goose bumps!!!
That’s what music, partying, and dancing should be.
The dude hitting the cow bell is an inspiration to me. I wanna be on stage doing that one day
The day Justin Hawkins turned Nick Rodriguez into a star!
Wow they really took the roof off, true British rockers!
so good. Seeing them in Wellington tomorrow night, and I wont be taking my phone
I remember concerts with no phones!
That’s what I’ve been saying for years! One person video since they all end up on RUclips so why not enjoy the show!
Just like in the 80’s. People really listening and enjoying themselves. Thanks Nicky!!!
Absolutely Brilliant! Put the phones away!
Class Justin...pure class
What an experience for Cal and the boys from Perth’s own Southern River Band too. Justin Anna the boys are very generous
Awesome thanks for sharing Nick! Absolutely brilliant to see Justin on form and asking the crowd to stop using their phones.
This video makes me happy!
