Hmmm... Less than 4 min into your vid I figured out what the main issue is here. You didn't think the story was ass, but instead the art directing was ass. The fact that you didn't fall in love with the side characters was what gave this away. Without delving into every action and/or word that they say or do, the first half (even the first 3/4 of the beginning) of S2 really did feel bland. I read the LN and extra stories, so I know what they were trying to do, but I could see why it fell short for Anime-only people.
(I'm mainly replying with this long reply because it sounded like you were fairly confused and are actually seeking some sort of answer or understanding for what you saw in the anime. Feel free to ignore this if that wasn't your intention.)
Every part where you said something like "What was the point of this? "What was the purpose of this person being here?" "What did we even learn from this situation?" was strictly due to poor anime direction. S1 cut out a shit ton of content, but it still kept the main points, foreshadowing, and direction that was needed intact to make it an enjoyable and cohesive watch. S2 direction was just.. not all there. For example, Badigadi was supposed to be there to show what the near pinnacle of power looked like while explaining how people could get stronger with magic, being a nonbiased support system, as well as a great freaking friend to Rudy. He helped Rudy by giving him many small anecdotes or a little bit of advice here and there. His laugh was also incredibly contagious.
9:20 What a FANTASTIC observation! Most people wouldn't pick up on this. If S2 did a slightly better job at foreshadowing, then everyone would know that this is some fishy behavior for the author to put in here. Season 3 MIGHT touch on this. We'll see how the direction goes.
And the messages you are having a hard time finding are in the everyday things most of us pick up along the way as we grow up normally. However, not everyone has lived a normal life or had the chance to learn these lessons. Like Rudy cherishing his parents. That's kinda like a "no duh" moment for the majority of people who grew up naturally caring for their parents, but for those who have depression and anxiety clouding over their minds or grew up being abused, it's not such an obvious life lesson to learn. Some of us learn this lesson too late, just like Rudy did here. Yes he might've wanted to save his parents, but he did it out of duty, not from actual care and affection. It wasn't until it was too late that he actually decided to cherish his relationship with his parents. All that lost time and missed opportunities to be there as their son was gone and never taken seriously. This is a really strong and impactful lesson for those struggling through the same thing, so it makes perfect sense to have the story highlight this part of Rudy's personal growth.
14:50 IDK what you saw, but it doesn't quickly move into romance (relatively speaking). Rudy wasn't mourning at all or at least in a healthiest of ways. He was suffering. Not eating or taking care of yourself is the equivalent of cutting yourself or planning to kys. You're essentially hurting yourself because your self-hatred is just that sever, you don't want to live anymore. That's when Roxy stepped in to help Rudy. This gave a really raw and realistic approach to slapping someone back into reality. Mind you, just because I say it's realistic, doesn't mean I condone it or am justifying it in any way. It's just what happens on the daily irl.
As for the romance part of it, you can kinda relate it to someone who's been in a long distance relationship. The communication between each other is much, much slower here, but the love and respect for one another only grows with time and distance (Not always, but in those rare cases, they do). Rudy's love for her was always at an all time high, so all we needed was for Roxy's love to catch up. And there's no quicker way to have that happen than to be saved in the exact same way you've always dreamed about. It's silly, it's cliche, but it happens everyday. Girls, no matter the age, sometimes have these kind of romanticized fantasies about their love life. Some just think of it in passing, so they don't believe that it'll ever come true, but imagine if it did? Oh man, they'd go crazy for it! So that's what we saw. So now their affection levels finally matched so their relationship could take it's first real steps forward. However, there was a mental road block stemming from Rudy's broken promise to Sylphie. Every relationship is different and they go through their own share of difficulties. Not one single relationship is ever a 1:1 of the other. Same goes for this situation, that's why they had to deal with it themselves for the specific situation that they had.
If S2 did a better job conveying these thoughts and emotions, then the relationship between Rudy and Roxy wouldn't have felt like it came out of left field. Let alone made Roxy look like the villain.. but again, I felt that the anime still did a decent job with this. Actually put yourself in Roxy's shoes and watch the episode again. You see that she's lying out of her teeth and wants nothing more than to be with Rudy, but is holding herself back greatly. "But she already did the deed, so she already got what she wanted!" ok, well first of all, women don't usually see segs the same way as men. Not all are capable of hitting it and quitting it (leave that stuff to Elinelise). So I'm sure it wasn't enough. She didn't ONLY want the segs. She wanted an actual relationship. Rudy understood this almost immediately, that's why he also felt bad for Roxy and wanted to do something to repay her for her actions.
Again, don't treat age like an actual thing here. Once you see other people's ages in this story, it becomes meaningless for the most part 😅Emphasis on "the most part".
18:30 God, I really want to explain this part to you, but I can't. In 2 years, I suppose it'll be shown. And that's not cut content. Even LN readers were left speculating until the very end. (when it was revealed, not the end of the story xD)
18:40 Did you stop the episode a few seconds before he dropped actual bars to what he learned throughout his entire journey since he first arrived to this world? because I feel like that was kind of a HUGE lesson to have learned at this point in time. His consequences aren't apparent or straightforward like other anime. They're more internal realizations and small actions/choices he'll have to make because of the things he's done or experienced. These would then build his character to the man he'll later become and play a big roll in the choices he'll make in the future.
Lol, and the "Best outcome" came at a huge loss.. Like.. How heartless or unaware do you have to be to think that Rudy simply got all the amazing things he has now without any consequence or sacrifice? He ended up with a "good" outcome, but it wasn't anywhere near the best one. And because it wasn't the best outcome he'll be thinking about it and learning from it for the rest of his life. That's his punishment/consequence. Sometimes we as an audience don't get the quick and satisfying gratification from having a character learn their lesson, but instead have the character grow from an experience and internally punish themselves for what they've done in silence. That's more realistic to how people, especially men, handle their problems and mistakes. I'm sure you yourself can recall many of the mistakes or bad actions you have done in the past, but weren't outright punished for. We've all experienced that. Many hope for that because no one would really like to punished for the actions or mistakes they've done in the past. That's why people often say things like "Oh, I was a really hyper or dumb kid back then" or "I'm a much different person than I was in my 20's" or "Past me couldn't imagine myself being here in this situation (good or bad)" The "punishment" or "lesson of the day" doesn't always have to spelled out or shown to us outright. They can be demonstrated by later actions and choices we make at a later date. Karma isn't always so black and white. Sometimes there's many greys. Sometimes Karma never even shows up. It might feel unsatisfactory when placed into a story, but it's a good thought-provoking theme to add into a story.
It looks like another user called BuddyChy also made some really good points as well, so you can read those too.

Your message was so long, so I can’t respond to everything, hope that’s okay. But the message about not taking your parents for granted, to me, isn’t very clear if the main character doesn’t take actions that would make me think he took them for granted. You say it’s an internal thing, so let me hear some of those internal thoughts more. And I don’t think it’s fair to say that he didn’t really care, when he literally was willing to leave his wife for 2 years, and not see his child be born. You might say that after Paul died, he got a deeper appreciation for him, but that’s true for every person when their parents die, or when anyone dies, even if they already really appreciated that person.
And the outcome was the “best”. The outcome wasn’t good, as Paul died, but still the best because it was unavoidable. Please explain how rudeus could have managed to achieve a better outcome which would be for Paul also to survive. It would have been impossible to save zenith from he memory loss as well, as that was also unavoidable.

@@KumoBear12 Sure thing! Thanks for even taking the time to read that monstrosity xD
I'll preface by stating that the way I worded things might have a different meaning to me, so I'll probably be rewording what I said and see if that makes more sense to what I was trying to say. Because even though I try to speak in a generic sense without referencing the LN, I might word things that still assumes that you did.
So in the way that Rudy describes his feelings towards his parents in this world is that he feels distant and detached from them. Yes, being separated from them for a long time played a huge roll in that detached feeling, but he never really saw them as his true family in the first place. If he did, he'd be more earnest in getting home after the teleportation incident. He probably would have stayed in Millis a bit longer to help out his father before moving on to drop Eris off. He could have had the opportunity to meet his extended family from his mother's side and helped them out in any way he could as well.
It's also difficult to explain what I mean when I said Rudy didn't help his parents because he didn't "care". Hmm.. Are you familiar with the feeling of or symptoms of disassociation? That's kinda what I mean when Rudy didn't care for his parents. He initially saw them as NPC's to a video game when he first got to this world. And they stayed that way for a very long time. Even after meeting back up with Paul, his "care" for them only grew by a bit (even less for his mother since he still hasn't seen her). He was still acting as a "wise-saint" in that episode because of his previous memories and acted more like the parent quelling an argument instead of the long-lost son since he still didn't see Paul as his legitimate father at the time. Rudy only saw him as a more mature version of himself or a more mature human for his age. Even though Rudy categorized them as his parents, they were only parent by name and still categorized as NPC Parents in his mind, but with a bit more humanity to them. (I'm overexaggerating so my point can come across).
His willingness to help and his feelings for caring about his parents were limited because he was still dissociating from his parents and everyone else in this world. So his "care" still was not 100% based off of genuine love and parental attachment. It was instead the care and kindness you normally show a stranger who is struggling to cross the street or someone who might be considering to jump off a bridge. It's the innate care that Rudy already had within himself that lead him to go help save his mother (that innate care is the reason he got isekai'd in the first place :p).
Remember that he was initially opposed to going to save Zenith. It wasn't until he saw Norn attempting to go off solo to help their mother that his "care instinct" kicked in and he made the decision to go instead. If he truly "cared" waaaaay before that, he would have ignored Elinelise when she first found him in the northern lands and told him to stay/don't worry about it. He would have instead left to immediately help Paul rescue Zenith. He would've probably arrived at the Labyrinth city a bit sooner too. Of course, now we know that it would've taken longer to save Zenith and more dangerous without the teleportation book that Sylphie showed him, but he would've been there because he "truly" cared. ("Truly" simply describes the actual 'love' for his parents as their son, not his normal love/care to actually help them)
I'm not denying that him gaining a deeper appreciation for Paul after his death isn't what a majority of people go through (I say majority bc there are some real psychos and apathetic people out there), but it was a feeling he could've had much sooner if he actually "cared" aka: truly saw Paul and Zenith as his real parents at an earlier point and time.
The main avoidable plot would've been to have Paul live. Zenith at this point and time would've still been in the condition that she is now, but a different method to at least save her cognitive functions might've been open with his presence. I won't elaborate any further than that because of hypothetical spoilers (meaning nothing is confirmed, but its still a high possibility).
Roxy would have possibly became the first wife after spending some more time with Rudy if no other external power or person(s) got in the way. And with Roxy's super analytical mind and understanding, once Rudy found out that Fits was Sylphie, after an extra year or 2, Roxy would've also welcomed her as a second wife. They both really love Rudy, so it would've happened eventually. This timeline would've changed the order or outcomes of other characters, but it wouldn't necessarily be connected to Rudy or his family the same way. I wish I could hypothesize more of what a better outcome could've been, but I have too much info from the LN in my head, so I might end up spoiling some stuff with that info and logic that comes in later chapters. I just deleted another 5 paragraphs because it would've involved some of the future arcs and/or a connection or two to several characters that haven't been introduced yet. mb 😅
Either way, this was a canon event :p

    • @KumoBear12
      @KumoBear12  4 месяца назад +2

Okay I agree with what you’re saying about rudeus not truly “caring”, or at least I think that was what was attempted like I say in the video, but my issue is how it is executed. You said he would have gone to help Paul immediately as he met elinalise if he truly cared. But that was what he wanted to do. He said he was going to help them. The ONLY reason he didn’t was because a god told him not to. And every time this god has told him to either do or not do something in the past, positive things have happened. Do you see how this makes the message messy and not come trough as clearly as it could? Originally he didn’t even know his parents were in trouble and when he found out, he offered to help, but got told it was fine. Could he have insisted and cared more? Sure, but already the message kind contradicts himself a decent amount by having Rudeus actively be willing and want to help at every possible opportunity.
You say that Paul dying would have been avoidable, but…how? How could that have been avoided? If rudeus had gone earlier, when he was weaker, Paul still would have died?
If we don’t agree after this message, let’s just agree to disagree lol I’m tired of writing😂

    • @pedrocks1312
      @pedrocks1312 4 месяца назад +1

@@KumoBear12 Ok, I'll try to word this so it doesn't spoil anything, but if Rudy "truly cared" about his family, even the Man God's words wouldn't have swayed him. Even more so if he was of sound mind. It would've basically been the same thing as when Rudy disobeyed him in turning point 3 because it was essentially the same advice of not going to go save Zenith. He just would've disobeyed him sooner. Because we see that he really does want to help, but his mind is preoccupied with different matters. He can still care, yet choose not help at the same time. It's contradictory, but that's what cognitive distortion does to a person. Someone may think one way, but still do something else to oppose that thinking. It doesn't mean they believe what they're doing is right or wrong, but it's what the distortion in their cognitive thinking has left them to choose.
And the message I think, especially for Anime-only's, is supposed to be messy. We are seeing things through Rudy's POV. So not really knowing what everyone's intentions are or the happenings of the world around us is totally fair. The world and the different ways of thinking opens up as Rudy's world and experiences open up as well. So with the limited information that the anime is giving, it's understandable that things aren't making much sense..
ON TOP OF THAT, we return back to the main issue of poor storyboarding and art direction that season 2 was experiencing. You saw how in Season 1 a lot of cut content could still captivate you and have you understand what's going on throughout the first season. Yet S2 had many things skipped or misinterpreted with no corrections and/or elaboration in the later episodes. That's why I totally understand where you're confusion and frustrations are coming from. Just know that even with bad directing, most of your questions should be answered next season. You've also been asking some questions that won't be revealed until like season 4 or even season 5 (the end). So anything I haven't answered, you can assume that it'll be spoilers/answered later. A lot of his character growth and the payoff/consequences of his actions happen waaaaaay later on.
Hmm.. I don't believe Rudy would've been weaker magically than his current self if he went to save his mother earlier in the story. He was already pretty damn strong to begin with, it's just his confidence was at an all time low. That would've been fixed after some encouragement, teaching, and time from Roxy, however. His dad would've also taught him and/or given him advice for being a man as well as possibly toughen him up with more sparing/dungeon diving. Rudy would've also had a much better feel for everyone's combat abilities and had a much easier time adapting in battle with them. But our current Rudy only had about a month to get used to everyone's fighting style and adapt quickly to ever changing circumstances without much Labyrinth exploration experience. It's like joining a multi-player online game and you have to win the match for the 30 or so minutes with people you just met in your party (example Valorant). Sometimes you get lucky with great teammates and other times, you're shit out of luck. But it's a fact that the more time you spend with them (like pro teams) you're likelihood of success skyrockets. Rudy was actually really lucky to be around S-class adventurers, but that didn't help him when he himself was only A-rank at best and c-rank mentally when it came to diving into dungeons/labyrinths. If anything, he would've ended up much stronger because he would have gotten a lot more practical experience under Paul and Roxy.
So I don't believe that Paul would've died. I bet with Rudy's charisma, they've might've also met more capable adventurers along the way to help them save Zenith.... And don't forget that they bumped into Ruijerd as well. Imagine if Rudy was able to convince him to join their party? Daaaaaamn!! Bye bye Mr. Hydra! And both Aisha and Norn would've been safely sent with Lilia, Ginger, and the other 2 sisters back to either Millis or to Lilia's hometown.

the thing with rudy is it's not that he is from the other world. it's his entire greyrat line. they are all womanizers. everything with the last two episodes of the season was to mirror season 1. him having 2 wives. yes paul had lilia as a wife, he said i think in season 1 i wont touch her till i get zenith back. i don't think he kept that promise. it's fucking paul lol. but roxy is a mirror to paul's earlier life like we as humans mirror their parents a lot of the times. it's why if the husband is a wife beater the son will turn into that a lot of the times. not always but it happens a lot. it's why sylphie was so calm at roxy cause she knew that was coming. it's why norn had to be there when he announced it for the audience because it comes off as fucking weird from our world perspective. it would be fucking weird to have nobody make that shit uncomfortable. and we already knew sylphie would just agree based off her personality traits.
now interesting enough what the light novel does that i WISH the show would do would give the perspective of those characters. sylphie's perspective is done on rudy asking for roxy in marriage. so you see what sylphie is thinking and cause sylphie is a very meek and very self hating character due to her green hair. she thought rudy was going to leave her. that was her fear. so when he came back and said that about roxy. she felt relief.
I will say the final two episodes should have been 3 or 4. cause they could have shortened the school part a bit and extended those last two episode and kept all context to what happens in there and it would have been better like that. the only really important school episode was norns. cause that shit was just fire. seeing pauls face in rudues was just amazing.
also the characters you called useless side characters like cliff and zenoba... yeah... no they are not lol not at all. they are now but... season 3. they are two of the more important characters. the cat girls are useless tho. very useless. lol. least till volume 19 where that is the most recent audio book that has released.

I dont get what ypu mean bu character assasination at the end, more like you had certain idea of the characters.

Yes I had a certain idea of the characters just like you do and everyone else has. That idea will differ from person to person. To me, decisions made in the two last epiosdes are not something I think is true to their characters based on previous epiodes in the series

@@KumoBear12sorry to break it to you, but these things were all in character. I know I have the benefit of having read the LN, but there’s plenty in the anime if you go back and really pay more attention you’ll understand they’re all perfectly in character. Whether you like it or not is a different story and that can’t be helped. I hope you can take the time to really sit on all of this more and continue to enjoy the story and the characters. Hopefully the way the story progresses from this point on will allow you to better appreciate season 2.

@@KumoBear12 I think you can objectively say that they ARE in character. Their actions and words perfectly line up with how their character has been set up through the series.

@@KumoBear12 the main reason the second season felt off is because they skipped way too much content form the light novel that's why it seems like alot of things are out of place. in the LN there were more character interactions in different scenarios that makes the characters interesting I will admit the amine did not do it justice in that regard it is quite understandable from your perspective

@@IgwechukwudikeEmmanuelI think the season was adapted way better than it gets credit for. I read the LN and it definitely sucks seeing so much cut, but all the most important parts were done very well. Norm’s episode was one I was concerned about and it came out wonderfully. There’s enough that was adapted that gives plenty for the viewer to be able to piece things together on their own without it having to be explicitly stated.

The review is about the animation. He could easily enjoy the light novels as they are a different medium.
