A lot of people noticed bits of choreography and camera work from "Ryan vs Brandon" and they are right! This fan-film was made as a homage to oldschool LCC and SaberComp videos with guys in modern clothes fighting on parking lots :) Ryan him self was a judge on SaberComp 2022 and he liked our love letter to him. We at Hilt academy always make our own stuff. This one was intentionally filled with references in camera work and choreography bits. Thanks for watching!
@@RussianSaberfighting yep yep sorry🤣 Ferocity is insane with saberstaff. I mean this guy was mind-blowing too, dont get me wrong. But Ferocity Lil better. Unfortunately I dont think I could reach this guy’s level
Well done!! This was fun to watch and visually is awesome. My only nit pick is that you can see that there is no “danger” in this duel. The choreography seemed to be put together around flurries and showmanship rather than two combatants at tempting to gain an advantage and strike their opponent. I look forward to seeing more in the future.
Thnk god i was not alone on this thought after reading gracefully wielding etc comments. This is no "Fight" its just hitting each others blade or staff w/e Well i'm no expert but i still have saber combat with my friends (even with ex-wife) not just hitting each other's sticks.. literally trying to hit/smash the opponent's head or wherever you can hit.. so all this.. too lacking in my opinion. and too slow too maybe its good for showmanship (even than i have seen better fights ) well ofc. better than nothing..
amazing fight and choreography, one thing i will say though that's pretty interesting, its interesting how the Jedi is the one playing tricks and attempting to fight dirty and the Sith is patient and fights honourably.
I like the omage to Ryan VS Brandon/Dorkman. The subtle references-The colors of the lightsabers, Blue for Ryan, Red for Brandon, and yellow for Dorkman, and also the reference to RVD 1, having the guy with the blue lightsaber get cut in the same spot as Ryan. And the not-so-subtle references, like the sneaky second lightsaber and changing to a double lightsaber mid-fight. Overall, it is also creative in it's own respect, separating it from Ryan Wieber's duels. Great work, Tyumen Saberfighting Academy!
I can totally see the RvB2 points of inspiration, while you still make it your own. Most of the choreography is really great! I especially love your rapid-fire up-close bits. there are a handful of moments where it feels super slow but they are the exception, not the rule. cant wait to see the full piece!
Glad u enjoyed! This is a full piece. And we don't actually understand where it's going "super slow". Ivan and Andrey are ones of the fastest saberfighters in HILT. Maybe it's camera thing.
@@RussianSaberfighting the two points I noticed was around 2:43 and 4:45. note that it only feels super slow in comparison with what's around it it's still relatively fast-paced. there are other 'slow' bits but they feel intentional, like two masters casually probing each other's defenses. on a careful rewatch I think you may have slowed the footage there for dramatic effect, but if you did it's hard to notice that it's going slow-mo (if it is) because the sound doesn't follow suit, so it just feels sloppy. All in all, though, this is great and I will definitely be adding it to my shortlist. Can't wait to see your entry next year.
I love the subtle callbacks to duels from the movies. I saw one that looked like it might have been from Phantom Menace, then Revenge of the Sith...excellent choreography and editing. Also love that The Force isn't really present in this duel. It's just people with lightsabers duking it out in style.
Wow.... I mean the level of swordsmanship here is... impressive to say the least. Just fantastic. The Darksynth/Electro thrown in toward the end may not fit the SW theme but it was certainly a nice touch. Well done dude.
Okay, no one said a single word and I am beyond invested in this. I would love to see more! The staff work was stunning and you could feel they were once close far better than the duel of brothers between Obi and Ani. Superb work.
@@RussianSaberfightingI'm a little slow on the uptake, but I thought of that when I saw that even in defeat, Sith couldn't bring himself to kill the Jedi.
Can I just say, aside from the awesome choreography, I appreciate how you got the colors of the sabers just right. Often they'll be too red or the wrong shade of blue, etc. This is pretty much exactly what I think they should look like. Edit: I also appreciate that the guy who sticks to just the single saber style is the most skilled, as opposed to the guy who tries to pull the double saber gimmick.
Way to dual wield without taking advantage of any of the benefits of dual wielding. With two weapons, the biggest advantages are: You can attack faster by swinging one forward while the other weapon is still recovering, works best if the attacks come from different directions and/or have different targets You can attack two locations at once so the enemy can't block both, ideally you want to swing for the head and the feet at the same time Or you can attack while still having a weapon in reserve for defense He pretty much exclusively attacked with both weapons and kept his weapons close enough to each other that his opponent could block both, completely negating all three of those advantages
Wow , they saved the awesome 2nd half for last. These guys MUST study Kenjutsu or are the most dedicated LARP layers to ever exist. Obi Wan vs. Darth Maul eat your hearts out.
@@RussianSaberfighting I could definitely tell with the fencing! There was some great technique and footwork, and a little bit of the stuff right at 0:56 looked straight out of a fencing bout till it went back to the lightsaber duel style
Gold saber automatically means she's probably one of the greatest duelists, because that color crystal tends to gravitate towards those with intense martial talent, such as the Temple Guard. So you know she means business.
dude with the beard should be part of a reenactment of Obi-Wan vs Maul and Savage. the hair drop at 4:12 and 4:15 made me think of when Obi-Wan kept focusing Savage's knee.
I just love how well the style of the person wielding the red lightsaber is done. Combining that with the very fast paced person with the blue saber and it makes for a visually stunning battle. Each little parry and block, you get the feeling these two have some kind of history and that maybe the red lightsaber guy has learnt that being a bit more measured and controlled (and solely practicing discipline with 1 lightsaber) can actually help him beat his opponent. Very talented actors and the clash of styles works beautifully - can’t wait for the sequel 👍

@@RussianSaberfighting That's right, I hadn't read. 😅 incredible easter eggs. We also have a video on Tik Tok replicating a fragment also from RvD2. But yours turned out GREAT. 🥳

That was about as positively delightful as you can do it without being crazy about martial weapon training. One thing that bugged me ever so slightly though - I kept recieving the "young Palatine" wibes from the "jedi" guy with his cocky demeanor and barely contained agression, all the while the supposed "sith" remained calm and collected... Serene even, almost as if having to own through the fight as a part of a meditation session. Well done anyway.
Really enjoyed this. My only real criticism is that while wielding his two blades separately, Blue didn't truly take advantage of having a weapon in each hand - he blocks with both rather than blocking with one while simultaneously attacking with the other (or blocks with one while the other is out of play), or uses both to attack high or low together rather than having one attack high while the other attacks low. This largely negates the advantage of dual wielding in the first place. Other than that minor gripe (which can be applied to the vast majority of dual wielding work I've seen in similar videos), this was excellent work - the double-bladed saber segment in particular I thought was handled very well, with several alternating high-low attacks and Blue taking advantage of his greater leverage at 2:18. Again, I had a great time watching this.
I Love the implementation of the choreography at the part where he get's the second lightsaber out of his pocket. This reminded me of the Lightsaber Duel from Ryan Wieber vs Brandon Flyte 👍👍👍
Interesting that the Jedi with the blue lightsaber uses the more flashy style with all the saber-twirls and so on while the Sith with the red 'saber is very no-nonsense in his style. One really expects the opposite. But still a darned cool video. :)
