There is something rare happening to me, i cant tolerate noise anymore. And this is like a big dose of silence. I am healed.
Nobody writes music like him. Emotive and subtle, clever without being over the top. Thomas Newman is nothing short of genius.
I feel so honored to be able to live in a world with some of the most beautiful composers.
Very few writers of music mange to capture reflection and bring comfort to the soul like Thomas Newman.
I worked in a treatment center for adolescents for over 4 years. We would always play "Pay if Forward" for the guys. Aside from the wonderful message in the movie, this music always left those confused and addicted young men with a sense of peace. Now, a few years after and listening to this it is no wonder why!

If one is not a fan of the works of Thomas Newman, then they have never heard Thomas Newman. ( nor have they seen enough good movies! :-)
Give this man a bloody Oscar already!
I just don't get that he didn't get at least 5 or 6 of them. If you know all of his beautiful 'once in a life time' work and music you just have to ask your self how is it possible that he is not known as apsolute Nb.1
And here we are in 2019 WTF! I do not get it. But I am so thankful for his wonderful scores. They touch the heart in a deep and healing way. One you don't hear too often is the score for the HBO limited series, based on the wonderful plays by Tony Kushner, Angels in America. It was my introduction to Newman and worth a listen if you love this man’s work.
Loved his "Little Children" soundtrack. Best end-credits music I have heard in my 58 years on Earth.

I have never, nor will I ever... of that I am sure, hear something as beautiful and touching as this. The feeling I get, everytime I listen to Thomas Newman's work... I don't think I could properly describe it even if I tried. It goes beyond words.
But this I can say: I am so, SO glad this man has lived. His music is... incredibly important to me.

Spokker Oh, I am well aware of the beauty of other compositors' work (Mark Isham and James Newton Howard being among my favorites), but you see... I have known and listened to Thomas Newman's music for years. You could say that, it left its mark in my life. And for that, I have even grown to need it, in a way. It has become a profound source of inspiration and serenity that I always make sure to carry with me, and so I know, that nothing could ever compare to it for me.
elitadream We are 100 % on the same page here! :-) I would even go so far as suggest, that his brilliant harmonics and tones are "earthly sonics shadows" of what you will be able to hear crossed over to the other side. In the afterlife. Call me crazy but that is what I imagine.
This is the most calming Music-I never tire of Thomas Newsman's Music.

Thomas Newman's music occupies a special place in my mind and heart...not only is it beautiful and hauntingly poetic...but the themes he conveys seem to say "hey-it's alright...I understand what you're going through and where you're coming from"...like some kind of strange therapeutic music that I can identify with...his music is my life's soundtrack...it's a corny confession, but it's better than some sheep who listens to Kid Cudi or Biggie and feels jacked or on top of the world...
It's a blessing a composer like Thomas Newman, with his aura of esteem talents, can ascribe such eloquent musical compositions for the world to appeal to his movie scores.

He's just genius.. no words can explain what I feel when I listen to his music. I jst can't help holding my tears every time I listen to his Finding Nemo music. I used to watch it every single night during my sis' medication times. the music was like cure for both of us .
I've been skating to this the past few weeks. Beautiful edge and extension inspiring music.
..beautiful.. gorgeous.. delicious.. amazing. haunting.. sad... joyous.. eternal... fleeting.. his music reminds me.. i have a soul... and to cherish every moment.

It's a travesty that more people don't know his name!
First, I would like to thank you for putting this video together with so much time and patience. Like your other videos, they are equally enjoyable for the great photographs and of course, the incredible movie scores by Thomas Newman. He is undeniably one of the greatest composers of our time. The magic, the genius, the gift that he possesses, to be shared with all of us, is extreme. Sometimes the movie may not meet the expectations we had hoped for, but the musical scores provided by Mr.Newman are nothing less than mesmerizing..... Perfection at its ultimate best!

Never heared of this man untill today. Had been curious for some years about a short tune in a radio program and finaly yesterday I wrote them a mail. Turned out to be a fragment of Tropopauze of Thomas Newman. So now I did some research and I'm really thrilled about his music. Seems like I'll be doing some listening the next couple of days.

The man is a national treasure. I think we should do what the Finnish government did with Sibelius. Just hire him and pay him a salary so that all he ever has to do is sit around and compose wonderful music. Phillip, I don't know if you came across this factoid in your research, but Tropopause is from his score for Angels in America, a piece that is so overwhelmingly beautiful, it's difficult to come up with words. Newman is one of those composers like John Rutter and Morten Lauridtsen (and John Williams back in his good days) that you can identify immediately.
I used to be embarrassed that these men's music could often reduce me to tears in the first eight bars. Now I don't care. I just enjoy it.

Thomas Newman's music to just sum it up is the sacred music of hope and faith, as well as Life itself, I'm confused as to why he didn't compose the soundtracks for Life of Pi or Cloud Atlas, but instead Skyfall? REALLY?? Thomas Newman is the Messiah of Music for the Human Spirit XD

So this isn't really a concerto but a compilation of Newman's music? Well, I do appreciate this and I enjoy him but I was expecting an actual piano concerto by him.

well the only reason why it's a little annoying is because I don't know what some of the song's names are and then I'd have to go into the albums and listen to each song one by one to figure out what it is. what is the second song that plays?
