Nice video! I have a few questions. Is it one ticket or multiple single tickets one needs to purchase? What if you miss the connecting train, does one just catch the next train? Is it cheaper to travel by bus?
@@davidespingel1223 Hello Donnie, the ticket is basically ride as much as you want if I remember correctly. So missing trains does not matter. Seishin 18-kippu is the cheapest way and if you have whole day you can get even further than Tokyo-Osaka. If you do not have much time take the night bus. You save on hotel night, its fairly cheap and comfortable and arrive at the destination in the morning ready to explore. Basically travel while sleeping.
Rion Ishida, if you love trains then you should definitely try this route. There is one Shinkansen train (Not N700) which runs just once a day, direct (no change overs) from Hiroshima to Tokyo at 6 AM from Hiroshima station. I was in Miyajima in 2016 and woke up 4 AM to get the first local train to Hiroshima station, just to catch that Shinkansen 🚄. It took almost 7 hrs to reach Tokyo. I reached around 12:30 pm I think. It had in car catering too! I couldn’t see Fuji san for my entire trip but that day, the last day of my trip I saw it on my way back. And it was magnificent. Try it, this route is just a priceless experience.

I used Tokaido-sen a lot when I dated a girl from Osaka. I traveled from Shizuoka to Osaka for a weekend once a month for 2 ENTIRE YEARS. So for me to watch your video was very emotional, especially the of changing trains in Toyohashi, I always used the stairs to change trains there because you need to be in a hurry to get the next train. Thank you for your video, for me it was very nostalgic. I'm gonna subscribe for sure. Ps: In case if anyone here is curious, I married the girl from Osaka.
not curious at all, but where do you live now with that OSAKA girl?

@@christopherkim1744 Actually I live in Amagasaki (nearby city), it's much cheaper and calmer than Osaka. And is just a 15 minute train ride from Osaka so...GG I guess, lol
If you don't mind sharing, how did you move to Japan and what job do you have, did you have a degree? I want to move to Japan in the future and I am curious about how other foreigner managed to move.
@the 48thRonin I totally understand. Some parts should be left untouched by tourists. I meant that many tourists jump from one tourist Hotspot to the other too quickly just to see as much as they can in 2 weeks or so.
You worked very hard to make this video. Climbing stairs while carrying luggage and filming all at the same time. Wow! This video was very educational and informative. Keep up the good work and stay safe. Thank you so much.
Hello, I just found your channel, Rion and I'm really enjoying your videos. Thank you for sharing your experiences and all your hard work. Take care. ✨✨✨
This is the MOST DETAILED Japan's train trip! As a foreigner, I really wanna try this trip sometime when I visit Japan, thank you for your information!
Thank you Mr Rion Ishida. We will try this route next year and use 18 seishun kippu.🥰But we will have side trip in Gotemba to see Mt Fuji and Kakegawa to experience Oigawa Railway Steam Locomotive. I'm so excited🥰
Atami Station we also saw kurofune train & Izu Odoriko. Our time did not allow us to train to Shimoda. Kuretake Inn hotel in Numazu (north-side) was very pleasant and has "dai-yokujo" hot spring bath.
This took me back to 2018! I had a week off from work so I did the same solo journey but I started in Nikko, Tochigi which is slightly north of Japan, and took the local train all the way to Osaka. I’ve made friends during my train ride, had interesting conversations with locals, and because I was so broke, I slept in Internet cafes and stuff. Unfortunately I didn’t know anything about the ticket so I just paid per train, which was like 15,000¥ in total. I cherish this memory and always get excited when I share it with my friends! Thank you for sharing this video!! :)
I was concerned about the time factor when we did our first Japan holiday years ago, so much to see, never enough time to see them all. But I’m really glade that we shorten our big city stays and squeeze in a few countryside stays between cities, slow down the pace to experience regional culture and hospitality of the locals. It felt like we got to know Japan a lot more that way.
I visited Japan (a few years ago). My parents used to work for Japanese companies in 1980s. So I used my dad as my tour guide. It was a blast. Japan is so advanced in technology at the same tim keeping so many traditions alive. We rented an apartment in Akihabara right next to the JR station. Took the Shinkansen to the Fuji mountains area. It was a blast. It was the first time I got bread from a vending machine! While Tokoyo had a lot of places to buy stuff, Fuji area is very rural. But you still get vending machines with bread and stuff. I think the main Fuji entrance area has a lot of vendors but not the other areas.
Oh i missed Hamamatsu. I'm very happy when the train in Hamamatsu. I visited my headquarter company where located in Hamamatsu. Thank you for bring memories back rion san.
It's fun journeying with you via RUclips especially now we cannot go out for travel. I love your adventure, hopping on & off the train. I wish to have that adventure too in God's time. 😊🙏🇵🇭

What a Bargain 21$ for a train Journey great if you are on a budget. Big difference compared to the Shinkansen.Enjoyed the video taking in all the scenery of Japan and Bento box looked tasty. Looking forward to more videos 😀👍

ほぼすれ違った気がするw. Hahah I posted a video taking a train from Tokyo Station (north) and stopped at the Pikachu Tokyo Banana Stand too! I honestly expected to see me in the background xDD
I remember getting the JR Pass so I could go back and forth Kansai-Kanto via Shin....then took the Shin-Kurobe to enjoy the epic view of the Gorge from the hotel there
I did almost exactly this trip a few years back, except for a little detour around the north side of mt. fuji via fujikawaguchiko I would highly recommend not just skipping over all those places in between tokyo-kyoto and just take 3 to 4 days to travel along this route. I got the shizuoka rail pass as well which grants you 3 days of unlimited train rides in the prefecture and gets you from atami all the way to hamamatsu with lots of room to explore
Agreed. But, if I may, we're in such a rush these days; if you have the time, maybe every once in a while going this way, enjoying the view as the scenery flashes by, and relaxing isn't such a bad thing.
This video reminds me how amazing the transportation system is in Japan. Even if you live in a rural area, you can still get to major city like Tokyo & Osaka relatively easily The only way to commute from one city to another in Canada that I am aware of is by renting a car or via rail (which probably cost close to a flight ticket)

You can do this because the public transport in Japan is so reliable.
Also because it actually exists lol. Outside of major cities in the US, there really is no public transportation.
