Have an AWD seinna. Yes, it burns tread off of super expensive run flats that I hate. They are non repairable. Have to buy new when one has something stuck in it. Thanks for the video. Seems like a front wheel drive Sienna with good winter tires work like a champ!
I drive the awd sienna. I also have a car that I use snows on. The snows are great in pure snow but it can be scary on slush just like a regular tire and they also give more noise. Snow tires seem to be worse when the road is wet also. Hydroplaning seems to be a big problem while my all seasons not so much.
Blizzaks are the best snow tires...but they hydroplane terribly. The Michelin Agilis tires are almost as good in the snow but also pretty darn good with standing water
I have a Dodge caravan and I've gone through some deep snow with it. I use Bridgestone Blizzaks in the winter and I also have traction aids incase I get stuck.... never have yet
So fwd is actually enough to get you everywhere in snow condition? No need for 4wd.. i think you are the only one who pushed fwd to the limit in snow condition. Thanks
jakjak258 on the roads in NY, fwd and snow tires will get you anywhere, ya... but if you leave the road into an unplowed driveway or parking lot... you may be stuck! :)
People have been getting around in snow heavy places with shitbox cars, 2wd, no power steering, no Traction Control, or ABS for decades. Just get some decent snow tires, carry some chains just in case, and most of all be smart. AWD/4WD is nice but not a requirement.
Where do you live? Some of those houses are massive! haha Awsome video! Was wondering about how deep your tread was on those tires when you shot the video thanks
Most important is WINTER Tires, they are different than snow tires, Must have the triangle snow flake to be rated Winter Tires. Tests show that a 2wd with WINTER tires has much more traction than any awd or 4wd with all season tires. Winter tires are not supposed to be run under 40 degrees. I see now Michelin has All Season with winter rating that have a 60k mileage warranty.
DadsGotADeal : I’ve always been a truck guy and would never own another actual car accept maybe a Classic, if I had the $? Anyway have a 2005 FWD Honda Odyssey that was the wife’s. Bought it new off showroom floor and with just a few little dings and 105K original Miles was thinking of keeping it since my 2003 Xterra just died completely last week. The Xterra was not 4WD but did have Posi and I ran Falken Wid Peaks AT’s. Think the posi could’ve been better? Anyway any thoughts on how an Odyssey would do in the snow with the tires you have? Honda was paid for a long time ago so I’d want the best tires for snow but I do not want any hydroplaning! Been there done that and I travel around for work. Also wish the front end of the Odyssey wasn’t so low? Thinking of getting better shocks for the front, If I keep it. Thanks.
Rajendra amberkar snow tires are mostly for braking quickly in snow, so they recommend all 4 tires. You risk the back end slipping out to the side if you don’t have snow tires back there.
Roscoe ElCocko ya totally. I have a 2000 Tundra as well and it has hardly any tech at all, not even ABS brakes. Swapping dash parts from the junkyard is a breeze and super cheap.
@@DadsGotADeal Thats the way to go. These newer cars scare me. Too much tech. I love Toyotas. I had a 1995 Corolla, 2010 Yaris and now i have a 2005 Honda Civic. No real tech in any of those. They all run super well and the only reason i dont have the Toyotas anymore is because people hit into them and totaled them. I really would love to get a 2wd Sienna. Most of them are AWD.
Huy Nguyen How’s it going? This neighborhood has homes that were built as old as the year 1830, a time when the USA government was still at war with the native Americans in the west. Most of the houses are about 1300 to 2000 square feet. The prices range from $100,000 usd to $250,000. What’s it like where you are?
Is that a real snow tire? Try studded! My 2009 is awesome in 7/8 inches of snow, no worries! It's our ski vehicle , over the 05Subaru Forester and 2001 f150 4x4 super crew. You need real tires!
We don’t do studs in our area. Most the roads are paved and salted so they are dry mostly. We just get some bad storms once in a while. I’ve seen studs on one car in 7 years. I believe they are awesome but they aren’t for me.
@@DadsGotADeal no studs fine. but everyone in our town runs to sets of tire, winter and summer. BFG KO2 are horrible in snow . I bet you would gain an incredible amount of traction with a true snow tire, studded or not. just my option as a tire gut in Idaho. great channel!

@J T that's it.
if you have everything on hi your actually cooling the engine and thats why it takes longer try leaving it off.
Have the same problem with the air in my Toyota sienna but still love it I have limited awd.

Thanks for sharing. I have been thinking to get AWD Sienna, but it is quite difficult to find. Now I can consider FWD with snow tire.
I have a 2014 honda odyssey exl and I have cooper at3s so I can drive in snow and off-road.
truck tires dont mean shit in the snow sorry there actually worse
Have you thought of getting the Nokian WRG3 All Weather Tires, supposedly to be good all year round.
Dominic Fong all year tires suck in all conditions. Just use summer\winter tires, way safer.
Thank you for doing this video. I am in the process of looking atan awd sienna vs fwd sienna. This helped a lot.
what's your decision then?
I wonder how it would work on 2WD with studded snow tires....

What kind of camera sir?
Thanks for sharing btw.
I used my iPhone SE for this. 4K mode. Put it on a selfie stick and held it out the window! Haha!
Hi,
I am from Vancouver and we get this much snow in some winters. Should I go for AWD or FWD ?
I just got back San Francisco from Tacoma and I drove in a snow storm with my FWD + winter tires I had no problems at all
Thanks @@giathinhla586
FWD + snow tires > AWD + normal tires
Great video, I'm going to buy sienna le 2019. Just a little bit worried about the snowy days in Colorado and how the van can deal with it.
if you can run snow tires especially Studded( small) investment , you will have a huge improvement in driving .
Halo.could you tell me is siena okay in snow?or shoould i just get highlander
If you have 3 kids or less, get the highlander.
Great video 👍🏻
My van is front wheel drive. Where I am heading has lots of snow, I’m wondering whether I need 4 wheel drive
Philip C how did the trip go in all of the snow? I have a 2015 sienna FWD...
@@thebirdiegt3939 thinking about buying a 2015 sienna as well, but I live in Canada so I was wondering how well yours has done on the snow??

What if it was AWD and with snow tires?
HMB PEBEJ then it would be freaking awesome! Just remember that snow tires main job is STOPPING so you need them no matter what drive system you have

I hate complicated vehicles. If that computerized heating/ac panel system fails, itll cost you a good few hundred dollars to get fixed.
