***EDIT: Hey guys recently learned the Sienna hybrid battery location is under the front seats! Hence the appearance of the hybrid battery vents under the two front seats where you can change the battery vent filter. Sorry! So used to the battery always being in the back. Hope you enjoy the video!

Thanks for your video. Many people don’t like minivans but the truth is they’re so utilitarian, versatile and comfortable for transporting people and long road trips. Sienna is great with the fuel efficiency/hybrid and AWD. One thing I wish the Sienna would offer is removable seats (like the Honda Odyssey), or stow-able into the floor (like the Chrysler Pacifica) for more versatility. The other thing is minivan prices have gone thru the roof these days (not just Toyotas) with MSRP prices around 45K-50K+… just insane.

I have a 2022 Sienna XLE AWD received December 24, 2021. My daughter drives it with her kids and loves it. The prior 2017 Sienna was totaled in a freeway accident, rear ended st high speed. We needed a replacement quickly. Most of the dealers in a 200 mile radius had 3 month waits, but one in a small town had several 2022s with AWD in the pioeline. Gets 35 mpg, only fill up every 6 weeks. The car has 18 inch wheels, and we were able to use 18 inch wheels from the 2017 Sienna to mount Blizzak winter tires and use them on the 2022. My daughter loves the space and versatility and she can use iPhone voice commands to ask for GPS directions.

I retired at the end of May (this year) and I have wanted to buy a Sienna since I saw my first video about five months ago. I will probably wait until early next year, since I really want to pay cash and am hoping for at least a partial stock market rebound (wishful thinking?). I just wanted to say of the 25-30 videos I have watched on RUclips reviewing this vehicle, this one was the absolute best I have seen. Very well done. You have only reinforced my decision to purchase this beautiful minivan. I appreciate your efforts.

@@frankofva8803 I am in the same position as you, and also waiting to buy the Sienna. I have looked at the other vans and SUVs, but the Sienna really stands out with a comfortable ride (I sold my 2016 Sienna in Sept 2022), mpg, and with plenty of space for whatever comes up. I am waiting for a while longer, maybe March/April before I write the check…it is definitely too expensive, but we don’t live forever.

Loved the video. Didn’t realize the 17” wheels come stock on the XLE AWD model. Assumed that going with the AWD option automatically gets the 18” wheels. Thanks for making note of that! Also, loved the mention of the 4-way lumbar support 😊
Great video…the more I consider the Sienna, the more I am leaning toward the XLE w those 17” wheels…we already own a 2022 Highlander Platinum V-6 and the 22 Avalon Limited (V-6). Ah! I never though of the ease of access for the repair/replace aspect of the wipers that are visible. Thanks for that reminder.... great review. This van looks appealing for a van. I just hate the fact there isn't a spare tire. Why?! I've seen so many issues with that!

    • @brianruperti
      @brianruperti  2 года назад +2

Thanks for watching! Yes I tend to have that mentality a lot. It helps for sure since (years ago) I owned a VW where, for simple repairs, many items had to be removed and relocated just to replace and easy part.
I agree 100% about the spare tire. I suspect there are a couple reasons:
1.) Weight savings (either for shipping, or fuel efficiency) spare tire is 60-80lbs
2.) Money savings for manufacturer. Less material used, less money spent.
3.) Sadly, most people don’t know how to SAFELY and properly replace a tire and with how crowded roads are becoming, many opt for having road side assistance do it anyway (even if they have a spare).
All of this aside I still agree with you, because like you, I would be able to do it myself and would not want to wait 3 hours for roadside or whatever.
But I honestly suspect Toyota’s reason is because it’s a hybrid. And with the absolute squeeze of weight saving on hybrids, that’s a great place to save. We started to see the trend when the Prius came with the tire repair kit.
      Hope this gives some insight!

It was loud and really a disappointment. We loved the previous generations V6. 36 MPG is great but I can’t see this van carrying a full load.

You’ll notice when you are out of park, if someone selects the door open button, including the driver, there will be a fast double beep, indicating the Sienna will not let you do that. Hope that helps! But like I said, not sure if they can be opened when the power door option it turned off.

I did give toyota a chance though but didn't like the way it was driving. This one seems different maybe they redesigned around 2020 january.. the interior seems single and good just like our odyssey still don't like the third row seems weird with small windows and also exterior looks odyssey looks way better imo but if we knew about that 35 miles per gallon hybrid model then we might have chosen sienna definitely saves a lot of money overtime. Odyssey 2020 exl gives us around 24 average. Did they even have all wheel drive hybrid with 35 mpg in 2020 or I missed that? AWD with 35 average is definitely a big seller for me. fck looks if i get all that :D

…I’m guessing you’re assumes gas will be about $4/gallon. If gas goes to $10/gallon due to Joe Biden’s policies then it might be worth it over a van that gets 19/mph. Also depends if your not using it for business use. At $4.00/gallon you are correct

      Uh, if you're driving 20,000 miles a year you're saving $1800 a year (gas at $4/gallon).
      If you're driving 10,000 miles a year, and gas is $3/gallon, you're saving $650 a year.
Plus the residual value is obviously very high.

Why is Toyota having so many issues building these? I'm told the wait time is 6 months to a years wait. Numbers are way down from production in the past.

Good for driving in cities. with 7 passengers fully loaded on a high way, it would be a disaster. It is very hard to speed up anymore after 65 mph.

Golly, I like to go a "bit" faster than that on some highways. Is it truly that bad?
