My cat knows when I'm close to his head and I say kiss, he knows to head bonks me. Even when he's irritable, he'll do it but it has that "fine fine here's your stupid kiss" vibe lol. I love him so much.
My dog gets embarrassed when he gets a head bonk from my cat. He seems to understand it's a sign of love and affection, but he is a bit like a teenage boy getting a hug in front of others.
My GSD is the same way 😂 the final kitty we brought into our home LOVES to rub up against the doggo but he returns the love by knocking the snot outta the kitty

My cat does such over the top enthusiastic headbonks that he snapped the arm off my glasses and sent them flying off my face when he hit at the wrong angle. I couldn’t even be mad. It was impressive.

In the final days of our boy Mr Fishsticks life who was dealing with a rare form of cancer at a young age he head butted me. He saw a bug on the floor and even in terrible pain he acted instinctual to the bug. I got down on the floor with him and after the bug ran off Mr Fish head butted me. It’s forever etched on my heart. 🐱 ♥️
😭😭😭 My cat was old and weak and the vet was scheduled for a home visit for the sake of euthanasia in the afternoon. I carried my cat around in the garden and held hear head to the watering can, and she drank a little bit like she always used to do. Precious but sad memories!!😥💔
I love this! I have a cat friend that I see on my neighborhood walks that slobbers and loves to bonk my hand, so I sometimes end up with a slobber covered hand.
I remember one night when our then-toddler son was screaming his head off and wouldn't sleep. Nothing we did would calm him. This went on for almost an hour until our huge orange cat hopped up on the bed, walked over the baby, and pressed his head into our son's head. Instant silence. The baby calmed down and went peacefully to sleep with the cat watching over him. We had to put that cat down a year ago because of cancer, and not a day goes by that we don't all miss him. He was greedy, rather dumb, and prone to pouting if he didn't get his way, but also the most patient, loving, cat that ever lived.
We use "headbutt." When one of my cousins was super young like 5 or 6, she didn't know why my cat would headbutt or "mark" her whenever she would calmly sit and pet him. I explained it was a sign of affection, and it became like our "secret handshake." She is practically 16 now and whenever I see her we still headbutt each other lol. It's hilarious seeing how other people react lol.
Head bonk is a loving action that cats do, which then results in them getting copious amounts of extra kisses from me, because they are sacred precious cottony miracles of love.
I said goodbye to my cat this week, and I've been really comforted by the fact that he knew how much he was loved. The night before I took him to the vet he jumped onto my bed and headbonked me (but gently, because he was pretty little)... this was a nice reminder that he loved me, too. Thanks, Jackson.
The reason why I love head bonks is that it's pretty much unfiltered love. They love you and they're showing it in the way they know best! I personally feel it's more love then any human being is willing to show to each other.
I think our dog understands the bonk. He's a puppy so he usually wants to play with her, but when he's nice and calm our kitten, who's only 6 lbs with a full stomach at nearly a year old, will head-bonk right into his open, panting mouth. She'll even steal food out of his mouth because of the trust they have.
The head bonk montage brought tears to my eyes. After two weeks of declining health from an unidentified illness my beloved barn cat Teacup passed away August 9th…. Five days after her 4th birthday. She got special privileges and was brought in the house to share my room often. She would head bonk my hand and ankles regularly. If I slept in later than my usual alarm on my days off she would bonk me to wake me up, then reach under the blanket or pillow to tap my face when I stayed asleep, finally picking up and dropping my glasses on the glass end table just enough to make noise that I got up. Smart little fart figure out putting on my glasses was the first thing I always did when I woke up. Being a barn cat, it isn’t unusual to not see her for a few days. As the days are going by it is sinking in that I won’t see her and it’s hard. Trying to keep the good memories in mind but the tears are still coming. Being raised on a farm I’ve lost barn cats but this is different…. this was my Teacup. I miss her 2am wake-up-to-snuggle-me head bonks.
I’m sad for you, Andrea. Teacup is such a lovely name. My little baby cat wandered off before summer and I miss him still and cry for him too. We love them so much, don’t we ❤️🩹

I remember a kitten I had, who had only been with me about a week, whom I witnessed dream twitching, he twitched quite violently and was obsessively having a nightmare. He woke up 'crying'. I looked into his eyes and asked if he was ok. He let out the saddest wale, walked up to me and gave me the first, biggest head bonk ever. We were family from then on. I miss him so much.
When my kid was little we didn’t have cats but he always seemed drawn to them. He vastly preferred cats to dogs, or even people. Anyway, as a toddler he didn’t like being kissed, so instead he started head-bonking. It got to the point where it was a very normal exchange to go: Me: can I give you a kiss? Him: **shakes head no** Me: what about bonks? Can I have bonks? Him: **grins and enthusiastically bonks my forehead** The hard part was getting extended family members to respect his choice not to give/receive kisses. Anyway, I used to joke that he liked cats so much that he was turning in to one. Now he’s a pre-teen and still obsessed with cats. We have a cat now and the cat takes every opportunity to head-bonk him.

As someone with ADHD who sometimes had a lot of trouble explaining what I liked and didn’t like as a kid (especially if it was something I was ‘supposed’ to like because I didn’t quite understand that I didn’t like it because everyone told me I did) this made me cry. I was also obsessed with cats and still am! I hope they bring him as much joy as they’ve brought me!!

My cat head bonks me so hard I feel like she’s gonna give me a black eye if I don’t turn my head. She literally slams her head with all her weight into my face. I always joke that the harder the head bonk, the more she loves me.
We call this "mushing", and one of my cats mushes me all the time! Especially after I've taken a shower, she has to come over and "make me smell right" again!
...me and my cat "emmy" ...our foreheads meet first thing in the morning. She'll keep her head against mine for sometimes 5 minutes. I dont really know but i think its adoration. (on both parts!)
Last week was my first day of 8th grade and my English teacher said “raise your hand if you have a cat” me and a few more people in my class raised out hands and he said “People who are raising your hands I know we are gonna be friends” He is my favorite teacher so far! I like calling it "head boop" Though my cat Buddy was really gentle with it. He'd sit on the stairs and when I'd come home I'd rest my cheek on his and he'd fall asleep like that.
Same with me and Charlize. She is so gentle at this that I cannot consider it a true Bonk. (It absolutely means the thing from this video, though, and sometimes when she is having snuggle time I will do one and then she'll do one back and it's adorable)
My male is very gentle and and loves following up with giving my nose a very gummy nose pass. Where he makes sure he rubs his gums on the tip of my nose, not always the nicest especially after eating fish. However I love it when he crawls up and lies on his back in the crook of armpit stretching so he can rest his forehead on my cheek. We can lie like that for ages and if I move my head even slightly of his head he will stretch even further to make sure to keep that contact. It is his favourite way to fall asleep when we have a nap together, he even makes happy noises in his sleep as sound I never hear otherwise it is like a happy sigh.
At our house we call this The Headbutt of Love. The first time I met our cat at the shelter I sat in a chair just to observe the cats and Charlie jumped in my lap demanded pets and after a few he nearly knocked my glasses off with his face. Of course, I was then his person and he came home right away.
I had to put down my cat yesterday. He was the best, and I miss him terribly already. He was a head bonking champion. He even did it to me one last time right before he was put down, too. What a special, loving, and wonderful cat I had.
I’ve volunteered at a cat shelter for about a month now and I had this cat who would rub his head on my hand and he would stop for a few seconds and then head bonk my hand. Recently he got adopted into a loving home. I still miss his head bonks. 🥺❤️
Every day when I came home from work my cat would sit on the edge of this small table and do this. Then I’d pick him up and hug him and then he’d go about his business. I miss him so much
My cat, Maximum(13), loves hanging out around human's feet(even when said feet are walking). It's cute but also dangerous for both parties 😅 that being said, there have been times where I accidentally step on his paw or if I'm mid stride and he darts in front of me, I accidentally lightly kick him. I used to freak out because I didn't know how to communicate to him that it was not intentional. One day it happened and Max was not having a good day so he reacted pretty angrily(usually he brushes it off). I didn't know what to do so I got down on the floor to his level and gave him a head bonk and he bonked me back. Now if I ever need to express an apology to Max I give him a head bonk and 9/10 times he'll give one back and it's like our version of "I'm sorry" "It's okay". 😭❤ I love my little catson!
My 12 y.o. house gremlin head bonked me for the first time today! I cried lol. She is so sweet and I'm glad she is settling. Had her for two months already! 🥰
I don’t get head bonks so much from the “cool guy” in my trio of feline family members, but he’s a big guy & almost every nite he gives me his version of CPR… I keep a fleece throw on my bed & he waits until I cover my chest & neck with it to protect against the weapons on the ends of his toes to then climb on my belly & believe me, his “making biscuits” truly is closer to CPR. When he’s satisfied he’s done his job quite completely, he lays down & gets right up to my mouth to smell my breath. Sometimes he follows up with one small little “lickie” in the same spot every time on my cheek just below my left eye. He loves me❣️ 😻😻😻
When I adopted my Bellatrix, within a week of getting her home, she headbutt me so hard that I had a bruise on my forehead for about a week. I’m glad she is more gentle now. She still has the habit of waking me with headbutts still. 💚🐍💚

My Baloo head bonked me constantly, on every part of my body. He was also always my “little spoon” too. I’ve never known another cat that thoroughly enjoyed being enveloped in my arms. He crossed the Rainbow Ridge this past June. We had to put him down due to cancer in his mouth and jaw. He gave me the best 13 yrs of my life ❤️
This was always my favorite thing to do with my cat buttons. I would hold out my fist and say “fist bump” and he would run over and gently bonk his head against my knuckles. It always made me so happy.
My cat used to launch himself at us like a mountain goat! He even scared my mum a little bit the first time he did it (whilst chatting to her enthusiastically 🤣).

This is actually why I was so drawn to my black cat, DiNozzo. His name got my attention, but his head bonk is why I fell in love right away. When the rescue handed him to me to see how we interacted, he clung to me and gave me a little head bonk. It had been years since I had an affectionate cat. Now I have three of them. This video made some sense of my cat Loki. He never really head bonked until after I adopted DiNozzo. Now he does it all the time. Perhaps he learned it from DiNozzo. Loki was a feral kitten who was bottle fed by humans and didn't seem to quite know how to properly cat in the beginning. I had a companion cat who monopolized me, and after she passed, Loki started to become more affectionate. He's 16 now and head bonks me a lot. DiNozzo will head bonk any part of me, even my butt if I'm standing in front of him when he's on the couch. He also will not leave the dog alone sometimes, constantly rubbing up against her and standing on his hind legs to bonk her snout. She tolerates it, but is usually confused and looking to us for help, especially if she's trying to eat. DiNozzo is definitely my little goofball. I love him so much.

My cat and I head bonk every morning for 5 minutes. I get on my knees with my head close to the floor and then he head bonks me again and again - sometimes pretty hefty. Don't know how this ritual started but we are doing it for years now. I should mention that he gets his favorite treat afterwards.
I literally just used this word. to my wife: Doily Doily Doily was annoyed about the way that I re-arranged the room, so I put her tree house back by the window, & she jumped right up, & I got a head-bonk.
I just adopted two 11 year old bonded pair of cats from my local shelter last Sunday. When I first met them & starting talking to them & very cautiously pet them a little bit. They were laying there glued together & they started the head rubbing thing to each other. I just melted & cried a little when I saw it. I thought for sure they must have been giving each other, not only some love, but, a message that they liked me. It's been a week & I still have them in my bedroom where they are still sleeping or hiding behind my headboard & one seems to come out for some love more than the other. But, we're still trying to get to know each other & they are very scared about any loud or sudden movements. I haven't been able to pick them up yet & I still haven't heard them meow. I put a camera up in my room so I can see when they come out to investigate the room when I'm downstairs or out getting supplies. I hope they come out more when I'm in the room & eventually venture out to downstairs where I'm hoping their food will be instead of my room. They like to sleep all day & are more awake at night. I know they are 11 but I still worry.

I was partially raised by a tortoise shell cat. We used to spend a lot of our time together and fall asleep together by the gas heater. To this day, I crave a head bonk about as much as I crave a hug. She passed when I was 16.
Every time I send my cat to the cat spa or the pet boarding place in town I always pack a t-shirt of mine with her, and it calms her down immensely, and she adjusts really quick!
Sometimes we press foreheads against one another and just sit there a bit and sometimes she just sit beside me with her head pressed against my arm or leg. I always feel so loved when she does that 🥰
I remember a few months ago we had to take one of our cats to the vet in order to check him for an urinary infection (of which he has recovered nicely), he ended up having to be sedated since he was too stressed to give a sample. I remember that I ended up getting stressed as the sedative started to work on him, since we’d recently lost another cat, and I was paranoid that something would go wrong and we’d lose this one too. I remember he clumsily tottered his way over to me, and leaned on me for a bit, then, right as he was about to pass out, he gave me his first ever head butt. I’m never gonna forget that, even though he probably felt weird, he saw how nervous I was and tried to calm me down. He now does that little headbutt constantly and is one of his primary ways of showing affection.
I just got my cat a few days ago and she has head bonked me many many times. She already trusts me and loves me as much as I do her. Feels like we were really meant to be together.
My boyfriend's Russian blue man-cat, Slate, sometimes likes to shove his face into the palms of people's hands to cover up his eyes and forehead. He then prefers if you just let your hand rest on his face until he's satisfied and shakes it off or falls asleep that way.
I have a 1yo boy named Luu. He loves like a freight train. The first time he actually headbutted me on my head, he put a lot of force in it. He hit me straight in the nose! I thought he broke it. *^_^* He's learning to be gentle now. We fostered kittens, and kept most.

Word's cannot express how wonderful this relationship has started off with Milo's love. He was adopted on Wednesday and by Sunday we are having so many ways we've bounded. The bonk made me cry happy tears. That first vet visit went well all things considered. Milo's got my whole heart.
It's a beautiful 68 degrees naturally inside and sunny outside. Milo's got songbirds all around us. I enjoy calling watching the bird feeders Twitter. Our children get a kick out it. Feeling groovy here and hopefully you enjoy the day.
My late, beloved Bengal familiar was known for his enthusiastic headbutting of everyone and everything -- but his most intense ones were reserved for the humans he loved most, especially my friend Fitz and myself...which is why Fitz was inspired to name him Bonker: what other name would have suited this loving Bengal boy so purrfectly?
We rescued a Bengal Beautiful markings! But HE was an astounding cat. No matter what he had looked like. Never tried to even nip us. Never scratched us. He chose us, after being dumped near our house (area cat dump site). No fear, just came up to us and always came out to see us when we pulled in. After a couple mos, we went out of town a week. The feral colony was tended to by neighboring ppl. We noticed he had lost weight right away. Food aggression happens so we tried sticking round after feeding to make sure he got enough. And we fed him at night too. Within another week, he was gaunt. He had little interest in food but drank ALOT. He had diarrhea. His eyes starting being goopy a few days after we had returned too. We put him on canned food, brought him in to get out of the terrible cold (he had become somewhat listless too) and started him on small amounts often, thru the night too. He gradually regained his appetite, the diarrhea continued. He didn’t put on weight. The diarrhea abated but he was still was so thin n slept often. After a few weeks, him skeletal, despite eating 2-3 cans of food a day-I started looking for a vet to put him down for an affordable fee. $30 was our max. I haven’t been working. We found nothing and his last 12 hrs were often horrific. Again, we had to do hospice with a feline. I would have given my arm for that sweet boy. He picked us to spend his last months with. He KNEW he was terminal long before we knew he was sick. I have never interacted with a cat like him. He never even complained till he was seizing as his body systems shut down. Then it was involuntary yowls. Once he was paralyzed (last 8 hrs) his eyes still followed us and would reopen if he hadn’t heard a voice in awhile then he did. He loved us to the bitter end. An amazing cat. Sry for the ramble. He just died 7 days ago.

@@semperfi818 We were his, he was not ours. For a brief, brief time, but for a lifetime. He wasn’t much more than 4 or 5 mos old. But he knew and chose us. He was docked on one ear, meaning he had been neutered as a feral. I wonder if he didn’t get dumped here but made his way here (way way out in country) to find us so he would be cared for. I truly wonder this. We have done much for this colony since April. I think God guided Siberia here to us.

One of our cats, Binky, was initially more distant and less confident than his sibling after they began to settle into their forever home. A surprising sign that he was becoming more comfortable was when he began to head bonk as a form of greeting; he really engaged with momentum. His name is Bonky on these occasions. His sibling rarely bonks, but they both regularly greet us with welcoming behaviors.
It is so beautiful. My girl head bonks me all over my nose. She stares deep into my eyes with such a soft, loving expression. If I'm not paying her enough attention, she will sit and tap my arm with her little paw 😻 and if I don't notice that, she will push her head under my arms and push it up continuously and she knows that works. Cats are so smart! She has shown me unconditional love like no other, she's never mad at me, she doesn't care if I haven't showered or what mood I'm in, she never judges or upsets me. Just pure love ❤️

My cat is not affectionate at all, except for 15 minutes in the morning when I sit in bed and scroll twitter and she headbonks my elbows and rubs up on my back. Best part of my day ❤️

My 10 month old kitten Riley will jump on me in the morning and press his nose to my face. He also does it throughout the day went he wants something. That’s how he trained me. 😹😻😸

We have head bonking rituals daily that our fur ball looks forward to, first am upon rising. It is how we greet our day and, also tuck him in for the PM. Feeling really blessed by it. And this particular cat was abused so he needs the reaffirmed security. He is so much happier , expressive and secure as a result now. Such joy watching him bloom and enjoy life!
I remember when I had gone on a trip for a week and my mom was staying in my apartment to look after the kitties for me. When I got back and sat down on the couch, Milo was head butting me like crazy! Like, “I” *bonk* “missed” *bonk* “you” *bonk* “so” *bonk* “much!!!”

Seeing all those cat bonks was just beautiful! ❤️ and it made me chuckle that dogs are puzzled by it. I haven't heard this actual term before but one of my cats likes to climb up from my lap with me supporting his rear so he can put his paws on my shoulders. He sometimes starts too rough, with claws digging deep in my skin as he pulls himself up (ouch) and bonks his head really hard against me - he gets very easily over-stimulated and excitable at the start of play, cuddles, treats, food.. - but my gentle strokes and scritches quickly calm him, and he then relaxed and rests his head in the crook of my neck and against my cheek, and gently rubs his face all over my shoulder, neck, face and hair. It's just the most adorable thing and I feel so loved when he does it. The gouges in my skin and loose teeth are so worth it (it's actually not that bad, I swear! 😆). He often falls asleep with his head in the crook of my neck whilst I gently support him, and it really does feel like an affectionate snuggle hug. My other cat doesn't rub and bonk in the same way, but he presses into neck finger scritches and it's so sweet when he does that. He also loves to lie out on my adult son's chest with his body stretched right out lying on his tummy, a front paw over each shoulder, and his head resting under my son's chin, and he sleeps like that. ❤️❤️ My son wakes up with a sore back from not moving for ages 😁 that's love for sure ❤️

When moving with the cats, I put a pile of my unwashed laundry in the new bedroom, that I set up as the relocation Basecamp. And following your advice regarding moving, the day went okay
My male cat reaches up with his paw and pats my face then he'll head bonk me. I adore him. Each of my 3 cats have unique ways of showing affection. I'm soooooo blessed 🙌
One of my cats head bonks me so hard on my face it really hurts. Especially when I'm sleeping & can't defend myself. I've literally been half away & he's hit so hard I saw stars. Lol
My dad's cat always head bonks my hands with a LOT of force, she just throws everything into it, sometimes it even hurts.. But it's so cute! It's actually the main way she shows her affection to my dad and me. When she get's super excited and happy she just starts headbonking everything around her. It's funny because she will jump up to bonk me
Seeing that montage reminded me of how both my kitties, despite the short amount of time I’ve had them so far, already have grown to love and trust me. I must be doing something right! My little baby boy is being neutered at the time of writing this and he head bonked me this morning to wake me up since I put their food dishes away (fasting as per required for the appointment). My older girl seemed to enjoy having a little peace and quiet when I came home after dropping him off, but I see them head bonking and grooming each other daily. She just won’t admit that she misses him, I bet.
Years ago my local writer's group had a meeting at the home of one of our then members, the first time we'd been there. We met on his patio (it was summer) and his cat and dog were there. The dog was a golden retriever, the cat was just, sweet, ordinary tabby. While we chatted, the dog lounged not far from where I was sitting, and a few minutes later, the family cat came up, sniffed at the dog, and gave him a head bonk. The dog just sat there, tongue lolling, tail wagging. HE knew. And as soon as I saw it, i said, "Awww! They're buds!" Our host agreed, yes, they were.
This reminds me of my friend’s cat that sadly crossed over the rainbow bridge. He LOVED head bonking me and demanded I keep petting him. Yes, my own cat (my profile pic) head bonks me too, but nowhere near as much as he did.
My 88 year old mother loves you (so do I). The difference is she is new to loving a cat. Cats were just cats until Tessa. My sister passed away who owned Tessa and mom took her in. She attached to her like no other cat. We ask her what she wants to watch, she always says "the cat guy". Now she wants to learn as much as she can about cats. Thank you for being there for her.

In the final days of our boy Mr Fishsticks life who was dealing with a rare form of cancer at a young age he head butted me. He saw a bug on the floor and even in terrible pain he acted instinctual to the bug. I got down on the floor with him and after the bug ran off Mr Fish head butted me. It’s forever etched on my heart. 🐱 ♥️

I remember one night when our then-toddler son was screaming his head off and wouldn't sleep. Nothing we did would calm him. This went on for almost an hour until our huge orange cat hopped up on the bed, walked over the baby, and pressed his head into our son's head. Instant silence. The baby calmed down and went peacefully to sleep with the cat watching over him. We had to put that cat down a year ago because of cancer, and not a day goes by that we don't all miss him. He was greedy, rather dumb, and prone to pouting if he didn't get his way, but also the most patient, loving, cat that ever lived.
We use "headbutt." When one of my cousins was super young like 5 or 6, she didn't know why my cat would headbutt or "mark" her whenever she would calmly sit and pet him. I explained it was a sign of affection, and it became like our "secret handshake." She is practically 16 now and whenever I see her we still headbutt each other lol. It's hilarious seeing how other people react lol.

The reason why I love head bonks is that it's pretty much unfiltered love. They love you and they're showing it in the way they know best! I personally feel it's more love then any human being is willing to show to each other.

I think our dog understands the bonk. He's a puppy so he usually wants to play with her, but when he's nice and calm our kitten, who's only 6 lbs with a full stomach at nearly a year old, will head-bonk right into his open, panting mouth. She'll even steal food out of his mouth because of the trust they have.

The head bonk montage brought tears to my eyes. After two weeks of declining health from an unidentified illness my beloved barn cat Teacup passed away August 9th…. Five days after her 4th birthday. She got special privileges and was brought in the house to share my room often. She would head bonk my hand and ankles regularly. If I slept in later than my usual alarm on my days off she would bonk me to wake me up, then reach under the blanket or pillow to tap my face when I stayed asleep, finally picking up and dropping my glasses on the glass end table just enough to make noise that I got up. Smart little fart figure out putting on my glasses was the first thing I always did when I woke up. Being a barn cat, it isn’t unusual to not see her for a few days. As the days are going by it is sinking in that I won’t see her and it’s hard. Trying to keep the good memories in mind but the tears are still coming. Being raised on a farm I’ve lost barn cats but this is different…. this was my Teacup. I miss her 2am wake-up-to-snuggle-me head bonks.
I’m sad for you, Andrea. Teacup is such a lovely name. My little baby cat wandered off before summer and I miss him still and cry for him too. We love them so much, don’t we ❤️🩹

I remember a kitten I had, who had only been with me about a week, whom I witnessed dream twitching, he twitched quite violently and was obsessively having a nightmare. He woke up 'crying'. I looked into his eyes and asked if he was ok. He let out the saddest wale, walked up to me and gave me the first, biggest head bonk ever. We were family from then on. I miss him so much.

When my kid was little we didn’t have cats but he always seemed drawn to them. He vastly preferred cats to dogs, or even people.
Anyway, as a toddler he didn’t like being kissed, so instead he started head-bonking. It got to the point where it was a very normal exchange to go:
Me: can I give you a kiss?
Him: **shakes head no**
Me: what about bonks? Can I have bonks?
Him: **grins and enthusiastically bonks my forehead**
The hard part was getting extended family members to respect his choice not to give/receive kisses.
Anyway, I used to joke that he liked cats so much that he was turning in to one.
Now he’s a pre-teen and still obsessed with cats. We have a cat now and the cat takes every opportunity to head-bonk him.

As someone with ADHD who sometimes had a lot of trouble explaining what I liked and didn’t like as a kid (especially if it was something I was ‘supposed’ to like because I didn’t quite understand that I didn’t like it because everyone told me I did) this made me cry. My male is very gentle and and loves following up with giving my nose a very gummy nose pass. Where he makes sure he rubs his gums on the tip of my nose, not always the nicest especially after eating fish. However I love it when he crawls up and lies on his back in the crook of armpit stretching so he can rest his forehead on my cheek. We can lie like that for ages and if I move my head even slightly of his head he will stretch even further to make sure to keep that contact. It is his favourite way to fall asleep when we have a nap together, he even makes happy noises in his sleep as sound I never hear otherwise it is like a happy sigh.
At our house we call this The Headbutt of Love. The first time I met our cat at the shelter I sat in a chair just to observe the cats and Charlie jumped in my lap demanded pets and after a few he nearly knocked my glasses off with his face. Of course, I was then his person and he came home right away.

My cat, Maximum(13), loves hanging out around human's feet(even when said feet are walking). It's cute but also dangerous for both parties 😅 that being said, there have been times where I accidentally step on his paw or if I'm mid stride and he darts in front of me, I accidentally lightly kick him. I used to freak out because I didn't know how to communicate to him that it was not intentional. One day it happened and Max was not having a good day so he reacted pretty angrily(usually he brushes it off). I didn't know what to do so I got down on the floor to his level and gave him a head bonk and he bonked me back. Now if I ever need to express an apology to Max I give him a head bonk and 9/10 times he'll give one back and it's like our version of "I'm sorry" "It's okay". 😭❤ I love my little catson!

I don’t get head bonks so much from the “cool guy” in my trio of feline family members, but he’s a big guy & almost every nite he gives me his version of CPR… I keep a fleece throw on my bed & he waits until I cover my chest & neck with it to protect against the weapons on the ends of his toes to then climb on my belly & believe me, his “making biscuits” truly is closer to CPR. When he’s satisfied he’s done his job quite completely, he lays down & gets right up to my mouth to smell my breath. Sometimes he follows up with one small little “lickie” in the same spot every time on my cheek just below my left eye. He loves me❣️ 😻😻😻

My Baloo head bonked me constantly, on every part of my body. He was also always my “little spoon” too. I’ve never known another cat that thoroughly enjoyed being enveloped in my arms. He crossed the Rainbow Ridge this past June. We had to put him down due to cancer in his mouth and jaw. He gave me the best 13 yrs of my life ❤️
This was always my favorite thing to do with my cat buttons. I would hold out my fist and say “fist bump” and he would run over and gently bonk his head against my knuckles. It always made me so happy.

This is actually why I was so drawn to my black cat, DiNozzo. His name got my attention, but his head bonk is why I fell in love right away. When the rescue handed him to me to see how we interacted, he clung to me and gave me a little head bonk. It had been years since I had an affectionate cat. Now I have three of them.
This video made some sense of my cat Loki. He never really head bonked until after I adopted DiNozzo. Now he does it all the time. Perhaps he learned it from DiNozzo. Loki was a feral kitten who was bottle fed by humans and didn't seem to quite know how to properly cat in the beginning. I had a companion cat who monopolized me, and after she passed, Loki started to become more affectionate. He's 16 now and head bonks me a lot.
DiNozzo will head bonk any part of me, even my butt if I'm standing in front of him when he's on the couch. He also will not leave the dog alone sometimes, constantly rubbing up against her and standing on his hind legs to bonk her snout. She tolerates it, but is usually confused and looking to us for help, especially if she's trying to eat. DiNozzo is definitely my little goofball. I love him so much.

I just adopted two 11 year old bonded pair of cats from my local shelter last Sunday. When I first met them & starting talking to them & very cautiously pet them a little bit. They were laying there glued together & they started the head rubbing thing to each other. I just melted & cried a little when I saw it. I thought for sure they must have been giving each other, not only some love, but, a message that they liked me. It's been a week & I still have them in my bedroom where they are still sleeping or hiding behind my headboard & one seems to come out for some love more than the other. But, we're still trying to get to know each other & they are very scared about any loud or sudden movements. I haven't been able to pick them up yet & I still haven't heard them meow. I put a camera up in my room so I can see when they come out to investigate the room when I'm downstairs or out getting supplies. I hope they come out more when I'm in the room & eventually venture out to downstairs where I'm hoping their food will be instead of my room. They like to sleep all day & are more awake at night. I know they are 11 but I still worry.

I was partially raised by a tortoise shell cat. We used to spend a lot of our time together and fall asleep together by the gas heater. To this day, I crave a head bonk about as much as I crave a hug. She passed when I was 16.

Sometimes we press foreheads against one another and just sit there a bit and sometimes she just sit beside me with her head pressed against my arm or leg. I always feel so loved when she does that 🥰
I remember a few months ago we had to take one of our cats to the vet in order to check him for an urinary infection (of which he has recovered nicely), he ended up having to be sedated since he was too stressed to give a sample. I remember that I ended up getting stressed as the sedative started to work on him, since we’d recently lost another cat, and I was paranoid that something would go wrong and we’d lose this one too.
I remember he clumsily tottered his way over to me, and leaned on me for a bit, then, right as he was about to pass out, he gave me his first ever head butt. I’m never gonna forget that, even though he probably felt weird, he saw how nervous I was and tried to calm me down. He now does that little headbutt constantly and is one of his primary ways of showing affection.
I just got my cat a few days ago and she has head bonked me many many times. She already trusts me and loves me as much as I do her. Feels like we were really meant to be together.
My boyfriend's Russian blue man-cat, Slate, sometimes likes to shove his face into the palms of people's hands to cover up his eyes and forehead. He then prefers if you just let your hand rest on his face until he's satisfied and shakes it off or falls asleep that way.
I have a 1yo boy named Luu. He loves like a freight train. The first time he actually headbutted me on my head, he put a lot of force in it. He hit me straight in the nose! I thought he broke it. *^_^* He's learning to be gentle now. We fostered kittens, and kept most.

Word's cannot express how wonderful this relationship has started off with Milo's love. He was adopted on Wednesday and by Sunday we are having so many ways we've bounded.
The bonk made me cry happy tears.
That first vet visit went well all things considered. Milo's got my whole heart.

My late, beloved Bengal familiar was known for his enthusiastic headbutting of everyone and everything -- but his most intense ones were reserved for the humans he loved most, especially my friend Fitz and myself...which is why Fitz was inspired to name him Bonker: what other name would have suited this loving Bengal boy so purrfectly?
My Bengal, Ollie head butts so hard it is an audible "thunk"! We call it a kiss. I'm sometimes bruised, but always loved.

But HE was an astounding cat. No matter what he had looked like. Never tried to even nip us. Never scratched us. He chose us, after being dumped near our house (area cat dump site). No fear, just came up to us and always came out to see us when we pulled in. After a couple mos, we went out of town a week. The feral colony was tended to by neighboring ppl. We noticed he had lost weight right away. Food aggression happens so we tried sticking round after feeding to make sure he got enough. And we fed him at night too. Within another week, he was gaunt. He had little interest in food but drank ALOT. He had diarrhea. His eyes starting being goopy a few days after we had returned too. We put him on canned food, brought him in to get out of the terrible cold (he had become somewhat listless too) and started him on small amounts often, thru the night too. He gradually regained his appetite, the diarrhea continued. He didn’t put on weight. The diarrhea abated but he was still was so thin n slept often. After a few weeks, him skeletal, despite eating 2-3 cans of food a day-I started looking for a vet to put him down for an affordable fee. $30 was our max. I haven’t been working. We found nothing and his last 12 hrs were often horrific. Again, we had to do hospice with a feline.
I would have given my arm for that sweet boy. He picked us to spend his last months with. He KNEW he was terminal long before we knew he was sick. I have never interacted with a cat like him. He never even complained till he was seizing as his body systems shut down. Then it was involuntary yowls. Once he was paralyzed (last 8 hrs) his eyes still followed us and would reopen if he hadn’t heard a voice in awhile then he did. He loved us to the bitter end. An amazing cat.
Sry for the ramble. He just died 7 days ago.

We were his, he was not ours. For a brief, brief time, but for a lifetime. He wasn’t much more than 4 or 5 mos old. But he knew and chose us. He was docked on one ear, meaning he had been neutered as a feral. I wonder if he didn’t get dumped here but made his way here (way way out in country) to find us so he would be cared for. I truly wonder this. We have done much for this colony since April. I think God guided Siberia here to us.

I knew that they had glands on their head and butt, I didn’t realize it was all over! I’m always happy to learn new things about them. 😊🐈
One of our cats, Binky, was initially more distant and less confident than his sibling after they began to settle into their forever home. A surprising sign that he was becoming more comfortable was when he began to head bonk as a form of greeting; he really engaged with momentum. His name is Bonky on these occasions. His sibling rarely bonks, but they both regularly greet us with welcoming behaviors.
It is so beautiful. My girl head bonks me all over my nose. She stares deep into my eyes with such a soft, loving expression. If I'm not paying her enough attention, she will sit and tap my arm with her little paw 😻 and if I don't notice that, she will push her head under my arms and push it up continuously and she knows that works. Cats are so smart! She has shown me unconditional love like no other, she's never mad at me, she doesn't care if I haven't showered or what mood I'm in, she never judges or upsets me. Just pure love ❤️
Ohhhh how I miss that head bonk and the command that I want your lap !! I lost my cat last week to CRF. He gave us 15 years of lessons we will never forget.

My cat Cleo does the same! I've had many instances of phone-dropped-onto-face because it's been head bonked out of my hand.
My 10 month old kitten Riley will jump on me in the morning and press his nose to my face. He also does it throughout the day went he wants something. That’s how he trained me. 😹😻😸

We have head bonking rituals daily that our fur ball looks forward to, first am upon rising. It is how we greet our day and, also tuck him in for the PM. Feeling really blessed by it. And this particular cat was abused so he needs the reaffirmed security. He is so much happier , expressive and secure as a result now. Such joy watching him bloom and enjoy life!

Seeing all those cat bonks was just beautiful! ❤️ and it made me chuckle that dogs are puzzled by it.
I haven't heard this actual term before but one of my cats likes to climb up from my lap with me supporting his rear so he can put his paws on my shoulders. He sometimes starts too rough, with claws digging deep in my skin as he pulls himself up (ouch) and bonks his head really hard against me - he gets very easily over-stimulated and excitable at the start of play, cuddles, treats, food.. - but my gentle strokes and scritches quickly calm him, and he then relaxed and rests his head in the crook of my neck and against my cheek, and gently rubs his face all over my shoulder, neck, face and hair.
It's just the most adorable thing and I feel so loved when he does it. The gouges in my skin and loose teeth are so worth it (it's actually not that bad, I swear! 😆).
He often falls asleep with his head in the crook of my neck whilst I gently support him, and it really does feel like an affectionate snuggle hug.
My other cat doesn't rub and bonk in the same way, but he presses into neck finger scritches and it's so sweet when he does that.
He also loves to lie out on my adult son's chest with his body stretched right out lying on his tummy, a front paw over each shoulder, and his head resting under my son's chin, and he sleeps like that. ❤️❤️
My son wakes up with a sore back from not moving for ages 😁 that's love for sure ❤️

My dad's cat always head bonks my hands with a LOT of force, she just throws everything into it, sometimes it even hurts.. But it's so cute! It's actually the main way she shows her affection to my dad and me. When she get's super excited and happy she just starts headbonking everything around her. Seeing that montage reminded me of how both my kitties, despite the short amount of time I’ve had them so far, already have grown to love and trust me. I must be doing something right! My little baby boy is being neutered at the time of writing this and he head bonked me this morning to wake me up since I put their food dishes away (fasting as per required for the appointment). My older girl seemed to enjoy having a little peace and quiet when I came home after dropping him off, but I see them head bonking and grooming each other daily. She just won’t admit that she misses him, I bet.

Years ago my local writer's group had a meeting at the home of one of our then members, the first time we'd been there. We met on his patio (it was summer) and his cat and dog were there. The dog was a golden retriever, the cat was just, sweet, ordinary tabby.
While we chatted, the dog lounged not far from where I was sitting, and a few minutes later, the family cat came up, sniffed at the dog, and gave him a head bonk. The dog just sat there, tongue lolling, tail wagging. HE knew.
And as soon as I saw it, i said, "Awww! They're buds!"
Our host agreed, yes, they were.

My 88 year old mother loves you (so do I). The difference is she is new to loving a cat. Cats were just cats until Tessa. My sister passed away who owned Tessa and mom took her in. She attached to her like no other cat. We ask her what she wants to watch, she always says "the cat guy". Now she wants to learn as much as she can about cats. Thank you for being there for her.
