Absolutely, but if you have the possibility to prioritise food then that's preferable in my opinion. I don't have a car (no gas money etc), rarely eat out, etc but instead buy a lot of fresh organic produce. Probably at least 3 lbs of fruit and veg daily, even more now that we have such lovely and tasty fruits and berries during the summer months.

I'm in UK and I find the fruits not good quality,I look at all those beautiful coloured fruits and veg in America's supermarket and the packet are actually family size not like here in UK with their small packet of salads.and you can't find grapes anymore with their seeds.everything that is good for us is expensive if you are trying to buy for a week as a vegan and it be good quality.

Even when buying avocados or leafy greens I think it is worth taking into consideration meats like steak or fancy cheeses people eat are not cheap either and people are not picking out on others having them in their fridges. I think I spend less thy my meat eating friends even though I buy A TON of produce and some extra vegan products from time to time :D
Anyways, sending you both lots of love!
Stay safe and have a great rest of the week!

I agree with that in terms of a vegan diet being cheaper generally than a meat eating one and there are different budgets for all types of diets but avocados and especially leafy greens, are not really premium quality foods, they're healthy produce that everyone is supposed to eat, so it doesn't seem fair that they're so expensive. I'd understand it for things like nut butters or more unusual ingredients.

I make “baked” potatoes in the slow cooker. Poke them with a fork, brush with oil, sprinkle with salt, and wrap tightly with foil. Cook on high for 4.5 to 5 hours or low for 6.5 to 7 hours. The flesh is a bit creamier because it’s more like a steamed potato. To get the skin crispy you can unwrap and toss in the oven for a bit.
Which reminds me, this is tonight’s dinner so I need to prep them.

Living in Texas i find being avegan is really cheap. I love how i go to my local heb & get 5 pounds of yellow potatoes for $2.50 or go to my 99 cent store and get 3 pounds of organic oranegs for $1. I can feed my vegan family of 3 for 1 month for $300 a month and thats including buying vegan desserts for a month. I would love to a updated video on you making some fudgey brownies. Those dates are ok i had them in the past but they are not the best i have had even better in the states

If you do not mind me asking, can you please explain the symptoms of your histamine intolerance?
I’ve personally had these mystery reactions to processed, oily, & other foods (especially cooked dairy products-cheese-before I was strictly plant based) for the past two years, in which my lymph nodes swell & my mouth hurts like in the bottom of my jaw & around my tongue.
I still do not know what it is, but since I have avoided vegan junk & only eaten whole foods for the most part, my lymph node swelling is minimal to none.

    • @by159w
      @by159w 3 года назад

@@kassidybrown4054 I also had a histamine intolerance even after being vegan for 5 years, my nose would run after seemingly everything I ate. I found that acidic foods were causing this reaction. I did an alkaline diet with no/low-acidic foods for 1 week in 2019. I now can eat high-histamine/acidic fruits, vegetables, and grains without having histamine reactions 💚 Look up Dr. Sebi Alkaline Foods list and try this out!

Cabbage has more nutrition & is quite cheap I can get that 50c-75c per pound which is about $1 - $2 a head... When on budget buy from the farmers market or directly off the farm it's fresher & cheaper for better quality... you can make homemade milk out of oats, sunflower seeds or any nuts, (optional) dates & vanilla... Right know I'm a student and still living at home, but I'll graduate next year and move out to go to college. I'll probably be on quite tight a budget and I'm already dreading it. Usually I eat a lot of fresh produce and that's so pricy! And I know that stuff like Bananas or frozen fruit or veggies come a lot cheaper, but I'm still gonna miss my fresh local strawberries in summer. Also, I think that it's really annoying that here in Germany things like nut butter are so inaccessible? You can basically not find them in normal grocery stores except for maybe one sort of peanut butter (which I can't eat) and it's all very expensive. Like, a jar of almond butter, which isn't a lot at all, will cost you 7€ or something along those lines. That's way too much. And it's the same for maple syrup and other foods like that which just aren't as common in Germany. There's usually not a lot of variety, you might need to go to a special store to get them and there are no cheap versions because only super expensive organic brands produce them over here. Really annoying

Usually I find these products in America for 20 bucks a week. Bananas, celery, cabbage, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, almond milk, ginger, cucumbers. If I find all my produce fresh I prepare it and store it so it lasts longer whether in the fridge or freezer. Also buying fruit in season is so cheap. Summer is ofcourse watermelon season so you can buy the biggest most juiciest ones that will last you maybe 4 days. Fish and meat will always be more expensive than vegetables. Going vegan is more filling, sustainable, healthy and I think cheap.

Technically, this is not really a chili. However it looks fantastic. I oculd live on this for a long time! Just FYI--Yukon Gold potatoes are much better nutrition, much less carb & iceberg lettuce hs no nutritional value. Better to use romaine or any other leafy green or lettuce.

Yukon Gold is a very American thing, I've never seen them in the UK or in Europe. How come they are better nutritionally?

    • @sherrieshatzen3801

@@kavya1379 They are much lower carb/starch/sugar content so they don’t cause sugar spikes or raise your glycemic index. I believe this is true for all “gold” potatoes. Perhaps Dutch Gold potatoes would be easier to find in Europe.

Learn how to compost and garden. You can reuse containers for pots, use seeds from produce you already buy, and compost from scraps you throw out. It can cost you next to nothing and takes less than 15 minutes a day.

You keep saying "i know this is a budget video, But", which to me indicates that you're not aware of or are willing to make the basic sacrifices to eat like the billions of people which you term are "eating on a budget." Who do you think who's eating on a budget has 30£ to throw around to buy protein powder as an upfront cost? Honestly, please introduce me to them. They must know how to budget exceptionally well.
