Thanks for taking the time to put this together. No one else on RUclips has gone this in-depth about the Image Transmission Module (believe me, I have looked for new content about it every single day since Weebill S content started hitting RUclips) - especially the tracking (SmartFollow) feature .... you are the first to have a real demonstration of that feature, and it looks like it works great. It is a much better system than having to have a phone mounted to the top of the camera, like other gimbal manufacturers are doing. Seeing how well that feature works is what I was waiting for, and I can now proceed with purchasing this gimbal. Thanks again!
Hi Jay! Thanks for this comment! My hope was to cover that gap, but it's still difficult to cover everything under 10 minutes. Tracking feature is good, but it's still not as smooth as my hand. I would only use it, if the gimbal is out of reach. It will probably work really well if shot in slow-mo. If you ever seen Weebill Lab tracking, Weebill S is definitely a huge improvement. All in all, for the price of the image transmission transmitter, it's a great too to have around! Thanks for watching!

Her Soul Vacation good question. It uses the mini HDMI to micro HDMI cable. I believe the production model ships with one. When I got mine, I had to buy it separately from Amazon.

Great video Se! When I first saw this gimbal I thought it would be cool to mount it to the front bumper of a car to get an angle kind of similar to that of a camera car they use in Hollywood. This way you can sit in the passenger seat of the camera car with the gimbal in front of you instead of behind you going through multiple layers of metal. Of course, this is more dangerous because debris can fly up and hit your lens. Maybe adding a layer of glass or something in front of the rig to protect it? Anyway thank you for showing us the potential of this little gimbal and I hope to see you continue to do greater things! I'll definitely be using that object tracking tip in the future.
Haha great minds think alike! I like that front mounting idea too. You would almost use the car as a controller too! That's good! I would definitely put an UV filter at least like you suggested. I'll be sure to keep pushing the boundaries of budget film-making! Thanks for the support!
1 very important question I have: Haven't really found proper guidance for this yet. (Haven't asked Josh Morgan yet either.) What's the best way to use a gimbal from a passenger side window of a car while following a biking group?
Haha, I would just make sure you have a wrist strap attached to the gimbal. Going at that speed, safety will play a major part. After trucks, vans would be my second choice 😅
@@SePark LMAO. Very good point. For the sake of argument though, let's say we have a closed set arrangement. My challenge on this one shoot was I couldn't get my Crane 2 motors to keep up and also the contraption was heavy as shit with a monitor attached. This HDMI module could certainly take care of that one issue though while also keeping a smaller spatial footprint than a gimbal with a monitor on it's side. I'm lucky my XH1 HDMI port stayed out. I guess I'll consider going handheld if we can't get an alternative shot or just get an alternative shot.:)

Theres some shake in the driving videos. Was that added in post or is the setup actually pretty bouncy on the road?? Im getting close to building this but Im trying to figure out how the footage will actually come out. Will there be any shake or does the gimbal absorb most if not all of it. I am after perfectly smooth shots.
This is nut, now we are able to shot movie grade car chase scene using our zhiyun weebil s. I'm currently waiting for my weebill s come today, so psyched 😆
What hdmi chord did you use to set up the module? I've read a lot of reviews online where people are struggling with the setup due to no hdmi chord included. I'm also shooting on Sony
Hi Nicholas, great question. You are correct. You need a good reliable high speed HDMI cable to make this work well. I don't recommend the coil type or thick HDMI cables since they tend to sag or get knocked on a nearby someone or an object. The one I use now (the one I used for the car shoot) is a flexible high speed HDMI cable. It's super light so it won't weigh down and sag. Sony's HDMI port is not secure enough for any heavy HDMI cables. I updated the Amazon links and you'll find the link to the exact cable I used for my A7 III there. It is on a longer side, but it can be neatly wrapped around or zip locked very well due to its flexibility. Hope that helps.
Awesome cut bro. And props for the hardware build and test case. 1 question: it didn't look like you were using an Anamorphic lens, were the cinematic flares After Effects? (they look awesome)
Another solid video. Nice edit with the footage too 🤙👍👍 You know another way to avoid the cold other than using image transmission??? Wearing a jacket. 🤔🤔🤔😆😆😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭
Vu Nguyen // nVu Films don’t you Asians have tons of heavy jackets....I thought you get cold easy? Plus don’t you have family members that make them?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 😜 Nice little cameo there Vu, solid truck driver!
You're killin' it lately man and I'll tell you why: you create unique value where most other RUclipsrs don't. I've watched many Weebill S videos and this is the first time I've seen someone discuss and properly show compelling new use cases for the Image Transmitter and the SmartFollow feature. Almost everyone else frames the Transmitter as a on-gimbal SmallHD/Atomos replacement and the SmartFollow feature as "something cool but I can't see a use for it". When you suggest new use case like this you're indirectly helping Zhiyun tap into new emerging markets. Really cool stuff man.
Such an awesome video Se, loved watching. All your videos on the Weebill S are getting me so excited for when I get mine. Still not available here, waiting, waiting haha 😂. Thanks for sharing the video my friend 🤙👍
Adrian my friend! I really appreciate you watching my videos during launch. Uh man! You know more you wait, the greater the reward! (Kinda like my videos hopefully. I don't upload often but each one I put in about 30-40 hours of editing time) LOL
Hi. I have the same setup, when I hit record on iPhone, image disappears. I’m sure it’s a Sony a7iii setting. Could you share your settings? Thank you.
In the corporate interview, did you use subject tracking while on the slider to keep him centered and add a panning parallax effect? I have a motorized panning slider but looking at upgrading to this system to give it a smother pan than what the slider does.
I just centered him without any subject tracking for simple parallax effect. You probably seen it, but Edelkrone makes the Headone which could add the panning rotational movement along with the slider. I could technically mount the gimbal on the slider for same effect, but I would have to use two different apps and that’s not seem less. Edelkrone Headone is in my Wishlist. 😁
How do you get it to track smoothly. Mine is jerking a bit. I'm using it on a slider and when I box an object which I'm trying to track smoothly. It does track but with a jerry movement. Help!
i running an a7iii on this gimbal with the transmission module, rigged up the cables according to instructions but still cant seem to control the camera settings from the app...
Hi, you know what? I see another real interest in this transmitter and object follow. Put the Weebill S on a slider and track your object or subject while the slider moves from one side to the other. No need to get an expensive motor head like Arc 2 for instance. OK it's not providing the full set of functions of an Arc 2 head but it can save some money if you're ok with it. in an interview for instance. use a slider with motor slider axis only and use the follow function for the rest. Not sure I was clear enough , excuse me for my english. I'm a french guy!!!!
Hi Didier! Yes that's genius! I think you'll enjoy a video I made about the Gimbals Future. I made it little bit after this video, and some of us talk about exactly what you just mentioned. You'll see a clip of me attempting that with Weebill Lab. :) Thanks for watching! Your English was perfect! I knew exactly what you were talking about! Thanks for watching!
@@SePark thanks for your answer. I'll see your video. But I see one drawback of the transmitter. It is that it is linked to what the camera sees and in case you don't have follow focus good enough, as long as it will loose focus on the object tracked, the weebill S application will be lost... Well, i'm afraid it will. Compared to the Ronin S-C if I remember well, it has the object tracking directly from a phone that you attach to the camera. I see 2 benefits of this way to do : 1) the phone has a wider angle of view than your lens so you can follow and track a subject maybe better if you can select it entirely. 2) the wide angle lens of a phone and the small size of it's sensor and the small aperture lead to a deep depth of field so no risk to loose focus. Exemple : shoot on the weebill a Lumix S1 + 50mm S-Pro 1,4 ... the depth of filed os so narrow and the contrast only AFC of the body may occur in some loose of the focus point. If the tracking is made with a separate view from a phone, it will follow the subject and the camera will try to make the focus. Can we do this with the weebill S ? I mean track an object using a phone attached to the camera?
Hi what setting do you need to change in the a7riii for the transmitter to work? when i hit record button both my phone and camera screen goes black. but when i unplug the multi cable it somehow works
Dato Aliff Alex you can use it as it’s own image monitor. If you use it with your Crane 2 of course you won’t have the same kind of control over your gimbal when using the image transmission module app (within ZY Play app). You will just have to mount the module via a cold shoe. It has a 1/4 inch thread. 👍
Hi Benjamin! Unfortunately Weebill S doesn't support all the camera control for the Sony cameras in the CCS mode. You probably seen the compatibility list: oss.zhiyun-tech.com/zyplay/instructions_edit/supportmodel/WEEBILL-S-Camera-Compatibility-List.pdf If you use the gimbal only, you can use the USB-C cable and put the mode to Panasonic to make the camera control work. However that turns off IBIS. Once you have the image transmission module, you can't use the USB-C cable tho. Sony recently released a SDK for their camera controls, so in the future models, this should be easier for gimbal companies to adapt.
@@ChrisMizo haha! I'm already thinking of how I am going to tell my wife about my next video idea.... LOL. (jk. she's very supportive,,, most of the times) 😁

Hey, Great video!!!! I'm a step away from getting this gimbal. I have a question, Did you film this in 4K and the transmitter scale it down to 1080 to your phone?
Wait this is sick! Does it work with most Zhiyun Gimbals or just the Weebill S? Also, went to the website and it doesn't even have a link to purchase it.
Thanks man! It works with all the newer model Zhiyun gimbals (Crane 2S, Crane 3S, and Webill S). The purchase link in my video description worked for me. If you get it from the official Zhiyun store, don't forget to use my discount code! Appreciate your support!
how did you get the image and motion control to work in the same place. I got mine today and I can only either do motion control or with over to view image.
NorCalAMG Media just in my Instagram Story Highlight. I am going to build a second revision in 2020. On that video I’ll try to cover more details. Important thing was safety. I had a safety line under the mechanism in case the wood cracked and the gimbal came lose.
i didnt get that tracking option in the app, is there any problem with my steup? using the black magic 4k (compatibel) and the zhiyun crane 3s (also compatibel), i plugged the gimball with the transmitter via usb-c and the transmitter with usb-c and hdmi with the camera, do i have to unlock something? Thank everybody who can help me :)

I was considering them for some simple recording work but these videos with the color aberration in the mountains... I am really curious. Does anyone has used them I doors for recording their home events or little projects? I'll appreciate any video indoor.
Is it possible to connect Atomos Ninja V (for record) and Zhiyun transmission module to a camera at the same time? (We need 2 HDMI port on camera I think)
I can't say I tried it myself to recommend that, but.... Atomos Ninja V has a HDMI out, so technically you should be able to make it work if the camera is on the comparability list (Weebill S Camera compatability list is a good place to start even if you use the module as a standalone transmitter). The transmitter also relies on the camera control cable connected to the camera to work properly.
The most awesome part of the video starts at 0:05 and ends at 7:15.
Not just informative, your videos are simply, a visual beauty.

Im getting close to building this but Im trying to figure out how the footage will actually come out. Will there be any shake or does the gimbal absorb most if not all of it. I am after perfectly smooth shots.
Bro. Please do tutorial for car rig... Saw it on our IG but need more details 😜
What lights do you use to create the red and blue background
It’s Yongnuo RGB light. I left an affiliate link of the exact one in my most recent video 🤙😁
Great video
Can you tell me if face detection autofocus works while transmitting?
Hi Adam, depends on the camera. Example: not when filming in 4K in Sony A7 III. Sony a7s iii on the other hand, should be a no problem! 😆🤙👍
Sir..how you mount the webill s at the truck?
Hope that helps.
and make sure the cable you are getting is Micro HDMI to Mini HDMI (Sony A7 III is micro and Zhiyun Image Transmitter is mini)
@@SePark Thank you I really appreciate the advice. Stay safe out there brother
Awesome cut bro. And props for the hardware build and test case.
1 question: it didn't look like you were using an Anamorphic lens, were the cinematic flares After Effects? (they look awesome)
Another solid video. Nice edit with the footage too 🤙👍👍
You know another way to avoid the cold other than using image transmission??? Wearing a jacket. 🤔🤔🤔😆😆😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭
Haha, that's a good one!!! Yo, you and RJ gave me some awesome footage to work with. 🙏🙏
Vu Nguyen // nVu Films don’t you Asians have tons of heavy jackets....I thought you get cold easy? Plus don’t you have family members that make them?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 😜 Nice little cameo there Vu, solid truck driver!

Vu Nguyen // nVu Films 🤣🤣🤣 nice tawch!
Thumbsed up before I even watched it. Been waiting for this video!!!! 😅
Man! You are making me feel way too special! Haha. Thanks for that! :) LOL
Great work. What do you use to attach the transmitter to a camera? My transmitter is on the way, I am searching for it but no luck
it mounts to the bottom of the weebil
Hi. I have the same setup, when I hit record on iPhone, image disappears. I’m sure it’s a Sony a7iii setting. Could you share your settings? Thank you.
Setup 3 > HDMI settings > HDMI info display (off)
In the corporate interview, did you use subject tracking while on the slider to keep him centered and add a panning parallax effect? I have a motorized panning slider but looking at upgrading to this system to give it a smother pan than what the slider does.
I just centered him without any subject tracking for simple parallax effect. You probably seen it, but Edelkrone makes the Headone which could add the panning rotational movement along with the slider. I could technically mount the gimbal on the slider for same effect, but I would have to use two different apps and that’s not seem less. Edelkrone Headone is in my Wishlist. 😁
Se Park I definitely want that feel JR one system at some point the gimbal is a must and of course much cheaper haha. Thanks for the reply.
have gymbal holdin the gymbal is smooth video ....you should try it
Don Gerra Marco haha that perception is kinda genius!! Gimbalception! 😆

😆
How do you get it to track smoothly. Mine is jerking a bit. I'm using it on a slider and when I box an object which I'm trying to track smoothly. It does track but with a jerry movement. Help!
i running an a7iii on this gimbal with the transmission module, rigged up the cables according to instructions but still cant seem to control the camera settings from the app...
hey great video, thank you. How can i connect with a laptop? i like to use it with OBS Studio.
I see 2 benefits of this way to do :
1) the phone has a wider angle of view than your lens so you can follow and track a subject maybe better if you can select it entirely.
Is it only for webill S or it can be used on its own module? If can be used on its own, might buy 1 as director monitor or mount it with my crane 2
Se Park thanks for the reply!
I cant get both video feed and sync motion working at the same time. How do you do that?
Does the tracking focus work in 120 fps? :)
I use a fujifilm xt4 with an iPhone 11 Pro. I can’t get the image transmission to pop up on the zy play app. Can you help with this?
Hey I’m using the image trans 2.0 and it just freaks out when I try the tracking
can i know how you attach the gimbal to the truck?
Ayye a fellow Asian who drives an F-150!
We are a rare sighting.. LOL.
What is the model of lens in your Sony?
Hi Albert! The one I used for this shoot was the Sony 28mm F2.0
Sony in your Angle
Hi, do you know if the ccs mode will work for Sony A6400? Don't think it is compatible, not sure if there is a workaround for it.
Hi Benjamin! Unfortunately Weebill S doesn't support all the camera control for the Sony cameras in the CCS mode. You probably seen the compatibility list: oss.zhiyun-tech.com/zyplay/instructions_edit/supportmodel/WEEBILL-S-Camera-Compatibility-List.pdf
If you use the gimbal only, you can use the USB-C cable and put the mode to Panasonic to make the camera control work. However that turns off IBIS. Once you have the image transmission module, you can't use the USB-C cable tho. Sony recently released a SDK for their camera controls, so in the future models, this should be easier for gimbal companies to adapt.
What can get better then GTR's, gimbals and cameras? 😂 This was a great idea Se! 👍
Chris! Thanks man! It's one of those where it's only a good idea after it's done. Imagine me explaining this to my wife before filming it.... LOL

I have a big problem! I downloaded the app and there was no weebill s option... I can’t use any of the features that are so highly praised in this video... :( can someone help?
Whoa 😮
Hey, Great video!!!! I'm a step away from getting this gimbal. I have a question, Did you film this in 4K and the transmitter scale it down to 1080 to your phone?
I was thinking the same thing, does it scale the camera image to 1080 or just scale the transmitted image to 1080. I shoot in 4K 25
Any more info on how you mounted the gimbal to a truck?
NorCalAMG Media just in my Instagram Story Highlight. I am going to build a second revision in 2020. On that video I’ll try to cover more details. Important thing was safety. I had a safety line under the mechanism in case the wood cracked and the gimbal came lose.
@@SePark cool thanks. I want something for my xc90 volvo
NorCalAMG Media that’s a sweet car. You would look like one of those Hollywood car rig, especially if it’s a dark color 😆
@@SePark thanks lol. Its actually Bursting blue but im thinking of wrapping it satin black :)
i didnt get that tracking option in the app, is there any problem with my steup? using the black magic 4k (compatibel) and the zhiyun crane 3s (also compatibel), i plugged the gimball with the transmitter via usb-c and the transmitter with usb-c and hdmi with the camera, do i have to unlock something? Thank everybody who can help me :)
Does time lapse feature work without transmission module?
Will the transmission module work with the Weebill? I don’t have the S

does anyone know any solution?
Nice I have the transmitter since 2 weeks and it doesn't works with my samsung s6 or note 3:( and no one answers from zhiyun.. Sad
Hey Rollo! Uh man... I know that can be frustrating. I Which camera are you trying to connect the transmitter?
@@SePark hi again, thanks for your quick answer. I just find out that it is only compatible s8-9-10... No one ever mentioned that. Now I have to change my phone too..
Are there any videos with good light but indoors? Anyone has done a little vlogging test with either the G50 or G60?
For some reason I can’t get the phone to connect to the image transmission modual. It’ll find it but the video won’t show . Gh5
How real time is it?
