I don't know how you do it, but you're video reviews just keep getting better and better. How much knowledge is in your brain amazes me. You must get lots of headaches !!!!
Try connect your Sony to Weebill S using the micro-USB to micro-USB cable. And then in Weebill S -> select Panasonic. See can it control Av, TV, ISO or not? My setup is Sony A6400 & Sony 10-18mm, and it works. Sound crazy, but it works.
The first 8 seconds of this video should have automatically earned you another 20K subscribers. Great stuff. Some of your viewers may be interested to know that I just got the Weebill S for my Panasonic S1 and Canon 24-70 L II (with Sigma adapter). This is a very front heavy setup and I am having clearance issues as well. Also, given the size and weight of the S1, it does not fully balance and tips forward when the unit is off. However, the motors are so strong that I didn't notice any degradation in performance when shooting. I know I'm taking a hit in battery life and extra stress on the motors, but I'm okay with it at this price point and portability. It's a remarkable gimbal.
Thank you for this review!! Great tip about purchasing the quick release! All the other videos that I have watched have left out this valuable piece of info.
Thanks for the video. Your video was the first that’s mentioned the mobile phone ‘clone’ app. I’m not sure what I will use it for, but it looks fun, and that’s enough reason for me to give it a go. Regarding build quality: I'm not particularly clumsy, but in my 3+ years with the S, I've walked into a wall (it wasn't in shot), been walked into by a mobile phone user, knocking me over, and when I was sitting on a bench, changing balance for a change of lens, it fell onto the armrest, tilted over and fell onto grass, and then managed to drop three feet onto concrete. It's a bit scratched and the lowest lock doesn't hold one way, but otherwise, despite lots of use, it still functions perfectly. Battery life is remarkable. I bought extra batteries when I bought the camera, and I have not had to change them on a shoot. This year, I've met a couple of other videoers who say, 'I used to have a Weebill S. Loved it.' When I ask them why they got rid of it, they say, 'I don't know,' or 'I regret it'. Both reckoned it was reliable in their hands. I have a Panasonic G9 for video. Originally, my 14 - 140 was my lens of choice, but now I use a 12 - 60. I bought a plywood box for when the Weebill is in my car. I can take it out of the box and connect my camera in less than two minutes. I have a Panasonic G9 for video. Originally, my 14 - 140 was my lens of choice, but now I use a 12 - 60. It's the perfect set-up for what I use it for. I'm pleased with my Weebill S, and can thoroughly recommend it.
Wow thanks for sharing your personal story with it. Sounds like it was a great investment. Haha maybe people sold it to get something newer or didnt use it as much anymore. Happy to hear its lasting!
Can you answer my question please. So in order to connect my phone to the weebill s, do i need to have the image transmittor? So i can connect my phone to do some movement with out the transmitter?
Took some searching on RUclips but if you tweak some settings, you can definitely get the Sony A7R3 camera settings to be configurable through the Weebill S. I had to change a setting from Multi to Single and from Auto to PC Remote.
The Zhiyun Quick Setup kit is great. I have several and it makes life so much easier. If you buy a second tripod, you can have a lower grip on the Weebill S and have two handles to operate it.
Would love to see some of those techniques from both handles and angles to see how the vid shots turned out. Tryin to figure out how to use this damn thing😑
Thank you very much!! I have the same setup as yours, but I couldn't get my 24-70 g master balanced on the gimbal, so I have to switch to the default lens that comes with the gimbal. But now I know what I can improve it after watching your video, thank you very much!
another great vid. helped me make the call to get the Webill S. Thanks :) tells us exactly what we need to know none of the BS, no frills, a sense of humor and facts and a hottie. What more can we ask for. Love your work.
Apparently if you use the usb C cable with the new Sony’s and set the gimbal to Panasonic it give you control of other settings. ISO, shutter and Aperture as well as the Rec stop/start.
You could probably add a small weight to the back of the camera so that you can move the center of gravity forward to counter balance the heavy lens and clear up that eye piece clearance issue. Love the review, I definitely want one of these for my z6 :)
This will be very helpful! I just received this gimbal this week, so looking forward to this weekend when I can play with it. My first gimbal so I will need to have the patience to get the balance happening!
I know this video is a year old but just thought I would drop a comment about using the gimbal with the Sony A7RIII to activate record, you need to push down fairly hard on the button in the centre of the spin wheel on the gimbal this will activate record/take a photo also make sure the camera usb connection type is set to pc remote.
Hi, Thanks for such a fun, professional video! I have two questions: 1. Do you need to buy the zoom attachment and image transmitter? Especially, do you need the image transmitter to use the app that you were demonstrating when you moved the gimbal via the phone's movement? 2. Are you actually still using this gimbal and how is it's reliability and sturdiness? I've heard that the gimbal has had a tendency to break (locking pins). Thanks again!!!
for Sony A7riii it is required to set the USB Connection to "PC Remote" and the USB Power Supply "off". Otherwise besides getting the right cables correction, you just press record button on the weebill S and it starts recording on the Sony. For other brands I don't know, but expect similiar setup.
Hey, I have the same same sony setup, one question, are you mounting the plate to the lifter base with just one screw in order to set the camera further back for balance? Otherwise if I mount the lifter base on the plate with both screws it's weighing too much forward and impossible to balance.
Just a heads up since you're a Sony shooter like myself. If you use the USB C cable and tell the gimbal your camera is a panasonic it unlocks all the features you're looking for!! Hope this helps!! Spread the word!
Learned a couple thing's. Can gimbals be set up to follow whatever the camera is focused on? I just got my weebill s, the record button work's for my a6400. I definitely want a z6 as well.
Great video! With the phone app, I see you can control the gimbal w the camera motion, can the gimbal follow you if you were to put the phone in your pocket or does it have subject tracking
Yay! I was waiting for this review. Purchased and waiting patiently on B&H.... :) Perfect for my A7riii and travel. However, the thing I got out of this the most was that you clearly should have your camera sidekick in every video now, she already has a great personality...and will always be there to dance and laugh at your jokes. :)
Thanks Kitty. Follows on the heels of your Moza Aircross 2 video. Prefer the form factor of the weebil but the Aircross has better support for my Fuji camera. Help me choose - a comparison video perhaps??
I just bought one used in perfect condition and am happy with it so far. I subcribe to your page and gave you a like as well, you seem to be a funny person onset or location, thanks for the review and tips as well.
I just bought a Zhiyun Crane 2 for my Sony a6400 with an 18-135mm lens and it works fine the payload is max out it took some time to balance but I got it to work. After seeing your video I am thinking about getting this Zhiyun Weebill S but I am not sure why the record button on the Gimbal does not control the Sony cam.
You need to check their compatibility list which is given in their weebill manual (online). Also gives what functions work and don't work with the cameras.
So if I could get the Robin S with the discount for blackfriday plus a 10% student discount which will make it the same price as the wheebel S would it then make sense to buy the Robin or the wheebel S as it's a bit lighter ( I do shoot a DSLR ,t7i) also the wheebel has axis locks !! Good morning my friend. I enjoyed your very clever demo of weebal s. I'm running a clay animation channel that I shoot on the tabletop using the Canon 80D. I have a question is gimbal "weebil s" sweetble for outdoor shoot by 80D?? Nice to meet you, have a good day.👌🕊️♥️
About the eyepiece clearance... Seems you don't use the "Y" lens support at the front, but still have in on with its locking screw. I suggest removing it. Even though it's not much, it may help you in sliding the camera/lens a bit towards the front. Also the rising plate may increase the unbalance effect, as the more things are higher the more they're prone to tilt (back or front)... so keeping an object as low as possible gets its centre of gravity closer to the ground, hence a reduced tilting effect. (am I even clear with my attempt to explain ?) Personnaly I use the great RX10M4 and, on my Crane 2, never had to use the lens support as the lens is fixed. That saved a few grams, just enough to improve the balance, and for that older gimbal (with less back clearance) it's way positive. With my camera, I had the same problem of not controling speed/aperture/ISOs from the gimbal itself. So I used this hack... - connection gimbal-camera with "for Canon" cable (yes, not confusing). - setting the camera "Toolbox" -> "USB connection" -> "Remote (or Distant) PC". - switching both devices off before back on. Try it, that should work. I've not used the Weebill S yet, but both interfaces seem similar... my hack should dissolve the limitation you're facing. Just the gimbal control wheel still remains unusable, sadly, but all other parameters can be adjusted from the stabilizer control panel. And for most sequences with some (or lot) action, it's a delight ! I love your intro, probably the funniest of all tech-tests introductions I've ever seen ! Keep on acting... the award is coming, I'm sure. ;-)

@@jonathanwennstromm1578 I'm considering the image transmission with the transmission kit on the Weebill S that is a very helpful feature, you can monitor your shooting image without lag on other devices and it is very convenient, unfortunately Ronin SC doesn't have this feature.

(am I even clear with my attempt to explain ?)

I dont see the image transmitter modul at the gimbal. Don´t we need that for control it with the smartphone?
Im actually having the same question
