Also the 50-200mm f/2.8-4 will also balance almost perfectly at mid way through zoom range. Tilt motor will need boost in motor strength though to handle the differences when zooming.
Thanks mate well done explaned one little tip maybe would be helpful. You should unlock all 3 locks before u turn the gimbal on otherwise u can see the axis error 👏🏻👍🏻
@@JakeSloan Thanks! Maybe a cutaway or two would help... Sorry I was cranky about that! A composite of different users' experiences always helps, and I definitely get a lot out of your videos!

You do have options to program the trigger on the weebill s a little bit but I'm not sure it would do exactly what you want it should default back to pan follow which means you would have to keep the camera pointed at the subject through some trial and error.
You need to make sure camera power is on and make sure its set for the correct camera as well as make sure USB power is on in the A7sII camera menu settings
But if the auto calibration is adjusted to the well-balanced gimbal, if we change the weight arrangement we are likely to have weak motor strength for the new arrangement, and we should do a new auto calibration, right? Because i get some shaky footage after remove the ND filter without changing the settings of the gimbal.
GREAT video! Seems like a snap do rig that thing! I REALLY think that the best option for small gimbals right now. ...Side note love the composition of this video. Seriously. the sky is blown out then 100% revealed in the lake! always sporting that Alaskan eye candy!
Lol I gotta represent!!! Thanks man. It was a challenging day to shoot with the lighting. It was changing rapidly from minute to minute but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
So if I understood correctly, let’s say I like to swap prime lens a lot but don’t want to rebalance it with every swap, then I can go to menu and auto tune after each swap and that should be ok without needing to rebalance? Does it work if I just leave it on auto or do I have to hit auto to recalibrate with each lens swap? Thx!
If the lenses are close to the same weight I wouldn't worry about recalibrating every time unless you notice the footage is shaky. If the lenses are drastically different then I would either recalibrate or maybe just re balance the tilt motor.
Hey I just got mine and it’s my first gimbal. It’s all set up but when I start filming, it’s every so slightly tilted to the left (or rolled to the left), it’s really steady and smooth with no shake, but the horizon isn’t perfectly level. Do you know how I can fix this? Thanks!
There is a way to adjust the roll axis in the menu on the gimbal and you can also do a calibration using the app to make sure it is properly calibrated. I would adjust the roll angle in the on gimbal menu first.
@@JakeSloan thank you so much my friend! that is what I needed. I got the Weebill S after returning the Ronin SC... I might prefer how the Ronin feels in the hand, so the jury is still out as to which one I'll settle on. In your comparison between the two, the Weebill definitely seems more stable when walking... Have you found that to be the case?
Jake Sloan that’s good to hear... it certainly seems that way from your footage. Do you think the payload capacity has something to do with that, with regard to the GH5?
Your tutorial is excellent. Very detail oriented explanaition. But for me it doesn't work. I have a Sony a5100, and no matter how I try to stabilize it, the gimbal will shake like an earthquake. I tried to set the strength to LOW and it keeps shaking. I though at first that the gimbal is defective, so I returned it and switched it with a new one. Same problem. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks Mark!! Appreciate that a lot. I wasn't super happy with the video just because the lighting was changing constantly and made it challenging to shoot! Hope to see you on the live stream tomorrow!
Great video Jake! I've got a question though. When I try the "auto tune" feature on my Weebill S it appears to go through the process just fine. However, once the check mark appears and it says "ok" it starts to vibrate and make a very loud grinding noise while starting to tilt to the right. Does yours do this? I have my camera absolutely PERFECT balance so I know that's not my issue. (it is an approved camera and lens as well) Thanks!
no mine makes no noise at all if you can send me a video clip on twitter? otherwise I would get in touch with Zhiyun support and see what they say as well!

Hi Jack, the image transmission module can only transmit 1080p @30FPS, my question is does this mean my record settings on the camera has to correspond to 1080p or can I record at 4k?
Jake, if you power your Sony A7R IV or Sony A7 III using the Weebill S's battery (full charge to start), do you know how long ballpark you can use it (gimbal & camera) for? Wondering if it's 2-3 hours or 4-6 or more? Thanks!
well for me it has been 4-5 hours but usually I have been working outside in the cold as well which shortens battery life. I would say it would be a safe bet to be in the 4-6 hour range depending on conditions and usage.
Hey John I go live tomorrow at 4pm Alaska Time (8pm eastern time) I'll be putting up a link tomorrow morning so keep an eye on your subscription feed 😉
How come you have more to setup and can balance the thing on a tree and I can't balance it to save my life! a7iii with sigma 24-70. that's it and it wont balance. Help?
There are little levers below the camera plate that you use to loosen and adjust the camera position and small screws on the gimbal arm that you loosen to move the arms around and then once balanced tighten them back up
Hey bro,Do you really recommend this gimbal over ronin sc ?I watched your comparison video also but still could not decide. I had bad experience with weebil lab so I hated zhiyun. I do not want to be Guinean pig again... I really liked its specifications but does it have weak or bad points ?
Man both are pretty good. While I haven’t had the Weebill S for a long time yet (multiple months) I can say it’s handled everything I’ve used it for with ease. That Includes going inside a glacier ice cave (it got dripped on a fair bit) walking through snow and rain. Shooting several conferences some interviews and lots of videos for RUclips and it’s going strong. My biggest disappointment so far is the app is much more difficult than the DJI app to get around (it’s not super intuitive) and the motion timelapse doesn’t work well at all. Supposedly they issued new firmware today to fix that but I haven’t had the chance to test it yet. If I had to choose today I’d probably go with the Weebill S but I also didn’t experience the problems some people did with the lab. It had frustrations for sure but mine worked well until I passed it on to the next user.
Hi im using a 6d mark ii + 50mm stm lens. The problem is it rolls a little bit when im panning using the Pan Follow mode. Even its perfectly balanced. Why do you think that happens?
Be sure it’s updated to the latest firmware and you can also play with the deadband sensitivity on the roll axis as well as the speed setting to try and work that out.
please tell me sir, Who is the best gimbal, dji ronin SC & zhiyun crane 2. and you any others gimbal suggest me . I use blogging and short film My camera Sony a6400 and Sony zoom lens 18-105 and Sigma 16 mm and rode videomic go please answer me I'm from Bangladesh🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩

Jake Sloan Yep, I found that in PF mode doesn’t work, only in L mode the both work at same time. But with practice I’ve learned how to do pan with my hand and adding tilt from the torque. Thats how I go on. Is that correct?
I bought my Weebill S several months ago but am just now trying to figure it out. Your videos are the best I've seen. My question is, can you use a relatively "light" camera with this gimbal like my Sony RX100 m7? I only see people with much heavier gear. I have a Sony A7iii, but I was hoping I could also use this with a lighter camera as well. Thanks for the great videos.
I think that will work or at worst you might have to add something to make it a bit heavier. I balanced my phone on it with a little extra weight on the plate. Cheers!
@@JakeSloan I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to give that a try. I was getting frustrated with my RX100 because I just couldn't get it balanced. But I was a complete newbie at gimbals of any type. Before I try it again, I'll use my A7iii to make sure I'm doing everything right. Then, I can go back with the lighter camera. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hi Jake, Thank you for your amazing videos. I own an osmo action and sony a6100 and an absolute beginner in video world. I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about regarding your accessories. The attached slide to the camara does not look like the one that I received with my Weebill S. The balancing is super straight forward if people already understands the 3 red locks and when to lock and unlock them. Sorry, this video only confused me. What buttons are you pressing to adjust the balance I’ve watched so much videos and can’t figure it out
There are little levers below the camera plate that you use to loosen and adjust the camera position and small screws on the gimbal arm that you loosen to move the arms around and then once balanced tighten them back up
Hey bro,Do you really recommend this gimbal over ronin sc ?I watched your comparison video also but still could not decide.
@@JakeSloan thanks for quick and prompt response ,,preciate. watching you😉
Sorted! Thank you.
Awesome cheers
Just got my weebill s, ..The great outdoors, so nice. Very good tutorial Jake. Blessings from London..Subbed.👍
Yay! thanks a lot enjoy the new weebill S!
Hi im using a 6d mark ii + 50mm stm lens. The problem is it rolls a little bit when im panning using the Pan Follow mode. Even its perfectly balanced. Why do you think that happens?
Be sure it’s updated to the latest firmware and you can also play with the deadband sensitivity on the roll axis as well as the speed setting to try and work that out.
is there any solution for tilting up lock loosen, mine zhiyun weebill S lock just move by itself whenever i uses gimbal.
Not sure exactly but have you tried to contact support?
Mine VIBRATES after autotune, had to use custom, but i should be able to use autotune NORAMLY. Any info about this problem, anyoen??
Double check your balance and then manually turn down the motor strength a little bit
does anybody know if i can apply these same instructions with an iphone xr and other attachments? want to do mobile filmmaking.
You can but you need to add weight to the phone to balance correctly
you've got me watching these weebill S videos while I'm still rocking the lab. If I end up pulling the trigger on the S I blame you LOL!
Same with ronin sc lol
ROFL both are great gimbals..
Lol well both are great gimbals so just but both??? 🤣😜

I'm from Bangladesh🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
I would get the Weebill S currently it’s a great gimbal!
You always have such scenic backgrounds haha. Where are you from ? Btw, great video - thanks ! I myself just picked up the weebil s and eager to test it out with the EOS R
Nice!!! Great to have you on the live stream yesterday!
Jake Sloan My pleasure man! Been following your channel for a while now and learned so much about film making and stuff!
You got any idea why my pan doesn't work when is operated by the arrows until the tilt works ^ v ?
Depending on which mode you are in it will work or not work. Pan Follow disables them for some reason
Jake Sloan Yep, I found that in PF mode doesn’t work, only in L mode the both work at same time. But with practice I’ve learned how to do pan with my hand and adding tilt from the torque. Thats how I go on. Is that correct?
is the weebill s on when your balancing
No it should be off until it is balanced
good one!
Thanks!
You’re welcome
Hi Jake, Thank you for your amazing videos. I own an osmo action and sony a6100 and an absolute beginner in video world. I don't have a specific goal, just for fun and trying out in combination with editing in Davinci resolve. What is your advise (without thinking to much:)) A zhiyun Weebill S or the DJI Ronin?. At the moment I have the DJI Osmo Mobile (in combination with DJI Action (cam). With regards, Barm
since you are familiar with DJI I would get the RSC2 or SC from DJI
If that tiny beast can able to handle my Canon 5d mk IV with 70-200 f2.8 is III i'll be definitely switching to Weebill S from Ronin S !!
Wow that would be a huge setup def check their list of compatible setups and see if that will work!
Nice 👍
thanks!!
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Tnks!
You’re welcome
really good
Thanks
My man balancing his gimbal in front of a bob ross painting.
lol
Love the new intro 👍🏼 but could have been a bit longer 😅
Rofl everything tells me make the intro shorter and here you are asking for a longer intro... how long would be ideal in your opinion?
Jake Sloan 😂 lol ! the current intro was bit fast or may be the music ended abruptly 😅 I don’t know but slowing it down would make it perfect 😜
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about regarding your accessories. The attached slide to the camara does not look like the one that I received with my Weebill S. The balancing is super straight forward if people already understands the 3 red locks and when to lock and unlock them. Sorry, this video only confused me. Yes, I have done this before and am only looking for a refresher since I have not used this unit in awhile.
Sorry to hear that
