I can't explain how i got to know CKY because i don't necessarily listen to metal bands, but man your sound is so unique that i ended up listening to CKY exhaustively like 5-6 years, and also playing the songs in my guitar until this day. I just play'em on dropped D, and sure i do it wrong, but sounds like CKY and DAMN ITS FUN. Long live Deron! success.

@sethmeisterman no, i mean derons guitar in this video. deron is in C# in this video, and when he plays the songs, they sound detuned by half a step. if you pitch it up half a step, they sound normal again, meaning the actual songs are played in D standard on the albums (apart from 96 which is played in D standard live, but Eb on the album, which would mean pitching up this video by 2 half steps/1 whole step for it to sound like the album when deron plays it here).

You are one of my favorite guitarists to listen to. You are a riff writing master. I hope you haven't given up on the music business completely because that would be such a fucking waste of talent.

Theres an actual tutorial on youtube this guy does. Theres no tabs but he tells you the tabs throughout the video. You just gotta rewind certain parts as your trying to play along. But its not as hard as it looks actually.

@@aaronvest6824 and yet everyone plays it wrong lmfao now as a studio musician myself I fully understand that notes repeat themselves across the fretboard however the intonation is NOT the same, there is also a little thing we professionals are aware of called economy of motion, playing this riff wrong ends up with it sounding off but also uses much more energy than is needed, the first 7 notes should be played without ever moving your hand, just as miller does.
I so much want to know how Deron is able to sing in key and play these complicated riffs. Is it a skill that someone can acquire or do you have to be gifted with that talent and pretend to be modest about it?

I been trying to play dressed in decay for the longest time and i cant string skip that good with alt picking that fast. By the way, me and my friend shawn got kicked out of the CKY show at the Stone Pony in NJ a while ago lol. supposedly i punched a security guard in the face ;]
