I remember singing this song a few years ago on Karaoke. I'm a musician by trade and rarely sing on Karaoke, but one night after a few drinks, my partner asked me to sing "Lady" or should I say put my name down and I was called to the stage. I started singing and there was an elderly couple sat in the corner and happily singing along, but the LADY stood out as she was visibly upset and I couldn't work out why. Anyway, I got to the second verse and because I was using a radio mic, I went over and sat next to the lady, putting my hand on her arm, she broke down and I finished the track and went back to the stage. The venue was busy and silent, now I know I can sing but I wasn't expecting everyone to fall silent. Then those whom were sitting stood and everyone gave me a round of applause, but that itself didn't overwhelm me. I went back to my partner and took a drink from my pint when someone, a barman came over with a drink and said from the LADY sat over there. I went over to thank her and intrigued, asked what made her so upset, had I done something or made a mistake with the lyrics, but it was none of them. She informed me that her former husband was killed in a car accident and used to sing LADY to her, it was their song, and I had inadvertently reminded her of times gone by which were happier. She said she was happy with her now husband, but her 1st husband was her childhood sweetheart and the drink was to thank me for bringing his memory to life, if only for 3 and a half minutes. We exchanged numbers as we was all on holiday and to this day, Sandra and I speak every week without fail. Not only did I sing a beautiful song, I made a beautiful friendship from it, and for that, I will always be grateful to Kenny and Lionel. ❤

I remember singing this song a few years ago on Karaoke. I'm a musician by trade and rarely sing on Karaoke, but one night after a few drinks, my partner asked me to sing "Lady" or should I say put my name down and I was called to the stage. I started singing and there was an elderly couple sat in the corner and happily singing along, but the LADY stood out as she was visibly upset and I couldn't work out why. Anyway, I got to the second verse and because I was using a radio mic, I went over and sat next to the lady, putting my hand on her arm, she broke down and I finished the track and went back to the stage. The venue was busy and silent, now I know I can sing but I wasn't expecting everyone to fall silent. Then those whom were sitting stood and everyone gave me a round of applause, but that itself didn't overwhelm me. I went back to my partner and took a drink from my pint when someone, a barman came over with a drink and said from the LADY sat over there. I went over to thank her and intrigued, asked what made her so upset, had I done something or made a mistake with the lyrics, but it was none of them. She informed me that her former husband was killed in a car accident and used to sing LADY to her, it was their song, and I had inadvertently reminded her of times gone by which were happier. She said she was happy with her now husband, but her 1st husband was her childhood sweetheart and the drink was to thank me for bringing his memory to life, if only for 3 and a half minutes. We exchanged numbers as we was all on holiday and to this day, Sandra and I speak every week without fail. Not only did I sing a beautiful song, I made a beautiful friendship from it, and for that, I will always be grateful to Kenny and Lionel. ❤
