This stuff is awesome guys…I’m currently laid up with severe back spasms. I use a Mevo+ with the Pro Package, so it has a bunch of this data. I’ve been working on the vertical swing plane, so this vid is right on. My only question. I was under the impression that the lower you have the handle of the club (lowering the vertical plane), the more closed the club face would be, thus promoting a draw? Seems you are saying to hit that cut, you need a lower handle at address and through impact…I am seeing that with my own numbers. My V plane on straight/draws is 50 and above, while my fades are around 48 or below…I’m just not understanding the physics of that…I hit up around 4-6 degrees, 1-3 degrees to the left, FTP 1-2 degrees right, 95 mph driver, a dynamic loft of 14, 2100 spin, carry is around 225.

I need this kind of session. What would you call this type of feedback? Is it simply a lesson? Would I look for “swing plane coaching”? I’m in central illinois so I would assume I would need a facility in Chicago or St. Louis.

Changing the lie angle of a club will also affect these numbers. Flattening the lie will lengthen the club slightly and increase the swing weight slightly and cause the flight to go left. Making the lie upright has the opposite effect, shortening the club and decreasing the swing weight slightly. Setting the lie at standard should then produce a straight flight. Because an upright lie makes the club a bit shorter that will tend to produce strikes slightly toward the toe so a fitter might recommend a 1/4 inch longer shaft. Conversely a flat lie will tend to produce strikes a bit closer to the heel. Also, with an upright lie the center of mass of the club is higher, which may reduce efficiency (smash factor) compared to a standard or flat lie. Again, conversely a flat lie lowers the center of mass compared to a standard lie. These are tiny variations, but the you are dealing here with fractions of degrees.

Interesting discussion about specifics of numbers, path, degrees, up and down but no real sense of how to do it. Sorta see and hear the number discussion and sorta handle drag closer to impact or same thing only this time hit up and bend the path- no problem! Handicaps all around the World are not dropping like flies.
