The exact pronunciation of all words is still an area of study but there were typically two ways to pronounce words in Latin, the Vulgar way and the learned way. For instance, loan words from Greek had digraphs like PHilosoPHia which didn't exist in Latin and when educated people pronounced them they tried to imitate the Greek sounds of the time, whereas the commoners had their vernacular way of talking which eventually turned into Italian. I'm neither learned, not Roman, but I am Italian. :)
I am a classically trained musician and I say this with so much praise, this is some of the BEST music I have ever heard made. Seriously phenomenal, any classical musician who says metal is just noise is an idiot.
Thanks for the compliment! The letter U was actually not a part of the alphabet of the Roman Empire which is why you'll see all classic and vulgar Latin texts written using V.
still coming back to this 10 years later, thank you for recognizing Nox Aurumque for having the most metal harmony and making a fitting arrangement that more than delivers 🔥
Same boat here. Classical vocalist here, don't typically listen to metal, and a HUGE Whitacre fan and I LOVED his interpretation. His voice is amazing!!!! What a range.
The drummer is what makes this for me. Mainly how dirty his Socks look, like they're maybe the fourth pair he's worn in couple weeks cause he's low on laundry, also how happy he looks to just be there playing.
I had the chance to meet the singer yesterday in school, he was holding a lecture about microsoft, i just listened to this song and it sounds bad ass srsly
I agree with you, and I think there are specific reasons for this. The arts in Swedish schools are very healthy; participation is not stigmatized like it is in North America. Singing (choral singing in particular) is very commonplace. It makes sense that per-capita the musicianship is stronger there.
We had tons of fun recording the video too! And by the way, most of us now have a new band to signify this next chapter in our musical journey. Would be stoked if you had a listen 🙏🙏
This is one of those Anomaly albums. Like “A Skeptics Universe”. We will only ever see 1 of them. Thats ok. Consider ourselves lucky to get this at all. Not a single measure on the entire album is anything but sheer perfection.
Doesn't the bassist's neck get tired?? =P You guys are soo awesome!! I don't listen to a lot of metal or hard rock but this just blew my mind. Thank you
Sir Sauvage It's sad that dudes like these who make legitimately awesome music break up quickly but bands like Chelsea Grin, Emmure and Attila still plague us... -_-
Bands like this are few and far between. They bring to life a "dead" language and that is a rare thing in this world today. These are kids (I'm 51)… You just don't hear this anywhere in mainstream culture. I've always loved metal and you can tell when a band is passionate about "music" and not money made from conforming to the corporate crap we are being fed on the radio. These guys play from their pores.
Translation: Gold, Tarnished and dark, Singing of night, Singing of death, Singing itself to sleep. And an angel dreams of sunrise, And war. Tears of the ages. O shield! O gilded blade! You are too heavy to carry, Too heavy for flight. Gold, Tarnished and weary, Awaken! Melt from weapon to wing! Let us soar again, High above this wall; Angels reborn and rejoicing with wings made Of dawn, Of gold, Of dream. Gold, Singing of wings, Singing of shadows.
I just decided to look up djent bands on Google (they don't always stick with bands of said genre and such) and found that this band only lasted 4 years. Don't get it. They're dope!
Robert knows when to use the camera to his advantage. When 2:06 and 3:15 happens, the camera shakes beautifully. I don't know if its just his voice but if that is what it does, that is incredible.
Watch out for these guys... Nice compositions! Man, those Swedes with their djent, design and shit! BTW, I liked the art direction in this video as well. Love this band!
Super underrated band. If your still here in 2023 your a goat 🐐
2024 but yeah. I'm still here.

Fuck yeah heavy metal yeahhhh!
You should see him in the music video for “Awaken” by Uneven Structure lol

I'm a fan of Whitacre's creations, what an awesome cover! And what a voice!

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, all Sweeds are just natural musicians.

I love how they made an Eric whitacre song metal. It totally shows the more brutal side of this song :) I love it!
One of the best voices I've heard in metal in a long time.

It's been a while since I've seen a good metal dub. Thank you:)
I love a drummer who looks like he's having fun while playing haha. This band's awesome...
