    Really interesting to see the difference in landscape in the time you hiked it. I also just uploaded a video but for me it was much warmer (like 15-20 degrees at night) and there was much less green, most things were dry and grey/brown! That was in mid-february.

      Thanks! Yes, the nature changes there all the time. Hope you still enjoyed it though!

    Excellent work. May I ask, what is the water situation like? Much fresh water available along the way to refill bottles?

    • @krutainis
      @krutainis  3 года назад +3

      depends on the season, I was there in Feb/March, there were some streams in the mountains, but generally you should bring any water you may need from the villages. there are plenty along they way, so should be able to get some water every 15-20km or so along the route

    Great video and nice hike! I am going this year starting March 18 and my plan is also Agaete - Maspalomas.
    Did you get around by bus? Was it fairly easy to get from the airport to Agaete and from Maspalomas to the airport?
    May I ask what the comfort rating of your sleeping bag is? What temperature rating would you have needed to stay warm during the coldest night? I will wildcamp with a single-wall tent.
    Is seemed like it was fairly easy to find restaurants in the villages on the way? What about grocery stores(bread, salami etc)? I want to bring as little food as possible.
    Was the trail easy to follow/well marked with signs? Or did
    All the best, Stephan

      Lot's of questions:)
      It's easy to get a bus to Agate and then from Maspalomas, they leave more or less every hour.
      I had 6C sleeping bag, it would not drop below 5C at night even in Jan, now in March onwards, it should stay above 10C at night.
      Yes, villages along the way will have also small stores, to by bread, salami, water. No need to carry more than a couple of meals with you at any given time.
      The trail is easy to follow, I used maps.me to check if there were no physical signs, but normally you can just follow the signs/markings on the trail.
      Have fun!

    Great hike man, thinking of doing it in January! How cold did it get during the night and was it hard to find gas for stove when you arrived? tnx!

      thanks dude. Gas you can get in Decathlon, they have one on the island. For temps, depends how high you are staying overnight, if above 1500m then will get chilly in the night, around 5c, if lower then normally its around 10c at night.

    Great video. Great achievement. Do you have to camp? Are there hotels/guest houses along the way?

    • @krutainis
      @krutainis  2 года назад +2

      I camped one night, but you can plan your route so you don't have to, as there will be villages along the way where you can find accommodation

    Thank you for a very informative video, Ivars! I'm going to Gran Canaria for 10 days and would love to hike as many of those days as possible. Do you have experience with hiking Gran Canaria beyond GR131?

    • @krutainis
      @krutainis  Год назад +2

      yes, there are many trails on the island. I just used the AllTrails app for inspiration. Spent around 2 weeks there.

    Hey great thx for sharing your hike. How is the camping situation? Did you camp at some official places or did you just look for a good spot? Do you know if wild camping is tolerated or even allowed?

    • @krutainis
      @krutainis  2 года назад

      Hey dude, there are some official camping spots along the way, but they were closed due to Covid when I hiked. So I wild camped. Now the situation might have changed. Check the latest status and if official sites are still closed, it's easy to find wild camping spots, good luck!

    Great video man. It really deserves more views. Some great photos there too. I'm going to Gran Canaria next month and fancy doing a bit of hiking (not to your level though lol). And being a photographer I'm keen to get some good photos. Can you suggest some high places for photo opportunities. Thanks.

    • @krutainis
      @krutainis  3 года назад +2

      Thanks mate, the best spots will be in the middle of the island, near Pico De Las Nieves. I also really liked the coastal trails on the left side of the island, Tamadaba Natural Park. Enjoy!

    You did well to do it in 3 days. I was wondering about your stove and I know from a comment below you got your gas can from Decathlon. what of stove was it - not a Jetboil was it? I don't yet have a stove and have read that there are screw types and another type and in the Canary Islands people have struggled to sometimes get the right type of can for their stove. Does your stove screw onto the gas can?

    • @krutainis
      @krutainis  2 года назад

      I have a screw-top stove and gas. Not jetboil, but a Chinese brand (as I lived in China). But jetboil is great as well, of course. Decathlon has screw top gas as well, so you should be fine.
