FazeTrash_TM He inspires people. Lots of people. And any animals who can hear the music at an intensity that does not scare them. Probably some insects, too. Certainly some trees and other plants that we know respond to music. His music inspires life.
Ya, but that skinflint still owes me for that coffee I got him back in 1980 when he played in Pasadena. A musical genius who NEVER picks up the check. ;-) ;-)
When I started my career in the world of bands and fanfares here in Brazil, at the age of seven, which for Americans are the Brass Bands, my bedside record was "By Request: The Best Of John Williams And The Boston Pops Orchestra ". However, there was no Summon the Heroes on this album, which I came to know a while later and I fell in love with this composition, especially with the trumpet solo performed by the legendary Tim Morrison. What a wonderful sound, what timbre, what a beautiful sound, I was extremely impacted and thought "Ok ... This is my sound goal!". Then, I became conductor of musical corporations and John Williams, through my conductor / teacher Marco Antônio Rodrigues, was my reference of how a band, or a fanfare, should sound, because for him (Marco Antônio) John Williams was "The Master ", and the Boston Pops Orchestra was " The Ensemble ". And here I am, thirty-nine years later thanking you, John Williams And The Boston Pops Orchestra, for being my references for good music, thank you! Thank you very much for being those lighthouses that illuminated my entire musical history. Thanks again, and long live John Williams And The Boston Pops Orchestra!
Thank you Keith Lockhart... thank you John Williams... thank you Boston Pops... thank you Engineers, etc.! This is beautiful, strong, uplifting, stirring, celebratory - a fanfare for the uncommon men and women who are our Essential Workers❣️ How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.... Dispatchers, EMTs, Police, Firemen, Doctors, Nurses, Therapists, Administrators, Hospital and Nursing Home Staff, Pharmacists and Staff, Grocery and Other Store Staff, Restaurant Staff; USPS and Delivery Staffs of All Types, Truckers; Local, State, and Federal Workers; Public Transportation Workers; Laundromat Workers; National Guard and all our Servicemen and Women; News Reporters and Sign Language Interpreters; and all Essential Others who are risking themselves for us. You are the light in the darkness. Thank you... thank you... thank you! With so much love and appreciation❣️ 👏🏻😬🌌🌅🌈🌎🌏🌍💖
This piece has long been one of my favorites. I'm a paramedic and watched this video for the first time sitting in the cab of my ambulance waiting for the next emergency call to come in. As often as I've heard this piece of music, this was the first time I've ever gotten choked up by it. Thank you for this bit of inspiration.
Your comment, should be the one to headline this entire thread. With out those behind the scenes people, this would have never happened. Kudos and, HATS OFF!
There is no words which can grasp the whole of such a marvelous, wonderful, amazing, deeply touching music. All i can say is nothing in face of so much beauty. It deserves billions of views.
Dare I say... this is a thrilling way to hear and see such a moving work. The ability to see the individual musicians, coming together from their own homes, brings an immediacy that we don't even get from a "group" live performance. I don't know how they did it, but it stirred my soul! Great video and sound editing - thanks for the technical and musical wizardry.
it stirred my soul as well... I'm a mere middle school music teacher (almost 30 years), and I was crying watching this video... Darn this COVID.... I'm so emotional nowadays...
Absolutely fabulous salute to our first responders and those on the front line. Thank you John Williams, Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops for your efforts to honor these blessed workers. THANK YOU mail deliverers, nurses, garbage collectors and the list goes on......
I remember being 15-years-old and I was up visiting my family in Massachusetts. We went to the Esplanade that Fourth of July--40 yrs ago and I sooo desperately wanted to see John Williams but I couldn't see him. I told mom I'd be right back and she said 'Don't you dare leave-I'll never be able to find you in this crowd!" I adore the man and his musical genius!
I have heard this played before but not as beautifully. Of all the heroes mentioned nurses are the ones that pop into my mind the most. They spend the most time with patients and put themselves at the most risk. My grandmother was a nurse. I have a photo of her taking care of patients in a field hospital set up at her nursing school. It was September 1918. 675,000 died from that pandemic 102 years ago. That is more than eight times the number of COVID 19 deaths at a time when the population was a third of what it is today. I never fully appreciated her role in that time until COVID 19 hit us. Her mother was a nurse and a midwife and her grandmother was a nurse during the civil war who went to battlefields to tend to the wounded with bullets flying around her in every direction. Today's nurses remind me of that. They are on a battlefield and despite the silent invisible bullets flying around them in all directions they persevere, caring for patients often being the last person the patients see or speak to. Many of these nurses have been hit by those silent invisible bullets and have died. They are all aware of the danger yet they persevere. They don't give up. They keep taking care of the sick knowing that at any moment one of those invisible silent bullets will hit them and take their life. If that isn't a hero I don't know what is. I would propose that our government create a system of honoring all our civilian heroes similar to what the UK does presenting them with medals for their various deeds. This is a beautiful tribute to our heroes. Thank you all who participated. The music was wonderful and the editing was amazing. I don't think many people would understand just how challenging it is to put together something like this and getting the sound synched up so perfectly. Thank you John Williams for creating such a masterpiece. My mother and I attended his last fourth of July concert in Boston. That was the last concert my mother ever attended as she became ill a few weeks later. My uncle played the violin for Arthur Fiedler in the 1940's and 1950's. My mother's first concert was one my uncle played in 1958. She was a life long fan and I was grateful to have inherited my mother's vast collection of Pop's albums. Williams has always been my favorite American composer and I was so glad to see his message at the beginning.
I have loved the Boston Pops for a long time, through all of its great conductors, Arthur Fiedler, John Williams, Keith Lockhart. I was thrilled beyond words when John Williams conducted the after intermission portion of the concert at Film Night last August at Tanglewood. This presentation of Summon the Heroes is so incredible. So wonderful. So amazing. Kudos to my favorite musicians. !!!
John Williams you will forever be our MUSICAL HERO! I have seen you for 45 years and treasure your genius! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR NOTES! WE NEED MORE!!!!
John Williams and the Boston Pops were a huge part of my childhood. I never saw them nor did I come close to seeing them, but I had recordings of film scores on a CD and they made up a bunch of the tracks. I had it on repeat until the CD player eventually died lol. I’ve finally tracked down all of the specific recordings (legally paid for this time) and can enjoy them in original quality on my grown up audio system. This specific video takes me back to my childhood all over, enamored and in awe, and this time a lot more in tune with its message. Beautifully done. This production was so well put together!
God Bless you sir, thank you for this amazing, uplifting video. Thank you John Williams for your massive incredible body of music. To all our essential workers and especially the health care providers and first responders who have put yourselves at great risk to help others, God Bless and protect you all. Thank you! To all the wonderful musicians who have dedicated your lives to mastering your instruments and so often go unthanked and unappreciated, thank you so much. Without you the music is not possible. And to the engineers who put this together, never acknowledged for all the time it takes as well as technical expertise, great job! Thank you!
To hear this, in this day and age, brings me chills. Thank you Boston Pop and John Williams for paying homage to the heroes worldwide, that are giving their all or even their best, to save lives. From the doctor to any janitor, from the police force to the neighbor keeping an eye on others incapable of taking care for themselves. We see you and we pray for you all
John Williams, a musical genius, and Keith Lockhart, another force majeur...along with the Boston Pops! Such uplifting music! Thank you for the gift, the inspiration, and the combined talents.
Simply awesome! John Williams is renowned for his many film scores, such as Star Wars, Superman, Jurassic Park...etc. In fact, he is one of my favorite composers. Had a rare opportunity to meet him once at a tribute event in his honor, at Los Angeles City College. Williams is also known for having composed several themes for the Olympic Games: 1984, 1988, and, this 1996 anthem. My favorite is "Olympic Spirit." That one just reverberates with the energy, pulse, and spectacle that embodies the Olympic Games. Sadly, there won't be the Games in Tokyo this year. However, great to hear "Summon the Heroes" being performed and not at a concert hall, but in the homes of the orchestra performers! It is definitely one for posterity and the history books. We certainly need our heroes during this unprecedented time of need. Let us thank each and everyone of them, at each opportunity that comes our way.
What a way to begin the day! Thank you Boston Pops for the tears and enjoyment of this gem. And, how much fun it was watching all the musicians in their "natural habitat"... Bless all of you!
I have been a fan of Boston Pops since I was in the US back in 90s, In my mind, the music from John Williams and the team best represent the American spirit that stands for inspiration and hope for the nation. This is the first time I see this tremendous coordination and I can have a chance to look at the faces of all members while performing. Please keep going and you are the greatest to motivate the Americans and the world in this challenging time.
I am a doctor....and a trumpet player albeit not a professional one. You are all my icons, I have wanted to sound like your section since I was a boy. Thank you for this. We will be here.
I've had the pleasure of hearing this piece of music any number of times as part of my John Williams music collection, but this was something truly special. The sentiment for which it was played this time was so wonderful, and the feeling I feel about its performance can be summed up in a word... glorious. Thank you Boston Pops for your wonderful efforts in presenting this to the world. Words fall short when it comes to showing others that they are appreciated, but music such as this relates the emotion that so many feel for those who show their heroism by helping others at risk of their own mortality.
Especially since he doesn't use a computer for playback. He does it all in his head, and the first time he hears his own music played is the first recording session
My daughter and I are both nurses. It takes people like you to help keep us strong. We both thank you. This was beautiful. Some day I'd love to experience your orchestra at an on stage performance!
Thank you John Williams, Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops, I am a healthcare worker and this truly brightened my day. I can't wait to attend a concert in person again.
Thank you John , Keith and the entire Orchestra for doing this. Our daughter Rachel is an oncology nurse at Beth Israel Hospital . Extremely difficult work to begin with in so many ways. We are so extremely proud of her for the care and compassion that she extends to each and every one of her patients. Now because of the crisis she and her colleagues have been helping out working in the covid unit when needed. Of course we're concerned for her safety on top of the emotional strain we worry about with her working in oncology. Our daughter and all of the professionals dealing with this have been thrust into unwanted risk and have showed my wife , myself and the entire world they will not back down in the face of danger. We are grateful. I hope that everyone working as a Nurse, Doctor, Cashier, Delivery worker, Postal , EMT's , Fire ,Police ,and all other front line workers get a chance to watch this motivating performance and that it brings you as much joy , peace and pride as it did to me. Thank and bless you all .
I wish they could feature the inspiring comments such as this reaction, as well. Please thank Rachel from all of us and that we will think of her, her colleagues, and the many other professions named and unnamed but who I hope will recognize themselves. You're there for our whole society, and THANK YOU.
Oh, thank you all for that. This is the America, the world, I love -which has been hard to see lately. I didn't know how much I needed this beautiful recording and the wonderful gifted people in it.
Can't even say how Awesome this is. My daughter is a nursing student and an alumni of Bowling Green State University school of musical arts this makes me so proud. Thank you John Williams, Keith Lockhart and The Pops :-D
Extraordinary! I'm in tears. Joining all those who have shared how much we needed to hear this, today. Thank you, from the bottom of a heart filled with gratitude.
Oh my. How incredibly awesome is this? Nice nice work guys. Can’t wait to get back to experiencing live music. I think many of us will no longer take it for granted.
Thank you maestro Lockhart & the BPO for this amazing performance and wonderful gesture. And thank you maestro John Williams, for the joy your music brings to our lives!
John Williiams, the Pops, the BSO with Ozawa..oh grew up here spoiled forever. Seeing this today a blessing so I have been spreading it around...everywhere. BTW, Red Sox caps, nice touch, folks.
Thank you so much for sharing this stunning piece of work. I can’t stop listening to it - you really get a feel of the power of the orchestra with a pair of headphones on. Many thanks to my favourite composer John Williams and to each and every musician for sharing this uplifting and emotional piece of work. Stay safe!
Thank you Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops for this outstanding and uplifting rendition of John Williams brilliant composition. You have brightened my day.
Thank you all. John Williams is MY musical hero . From early days in high school and college, having the privilege to play some of your music always brought a challenge and much joy. As a Nurse Practitioner and musician, I love everything about this. Thank you for bringing joy to us all!
non ho mai pianto così tanto dall'emozione.....Grande Boston Pops, grande Keith Lockhart, Grande JOHN ...............
John Williams should officially be labeled a National Treasure, along with The Boston Pops.
Yes!
Amen.

Williams is at seventeen-forty, following Michael Tilson-Thomas.
He should be labeled WORLD TREASURE by UNESCO!
agreed
John williams is a legend and he inspires countless musicians!

And composers. :)
WOW.... Incredible players and of course John Williams music! SO GOOD!
Amazing sonically!! All credit goes to the sound engineers in the making of this video!!The musicians involved are so professional !!!!!
As a first responder thank you . It made me cry and made my day .

Bravo guys! Beautiful solo Tom! Great to see and hear the Pops again. Thank you all frontline workers.
The Mahler 2 chorale was wonderful as well. Thanks for doing that. :)
Thomas Rolfs was my mom’s private trumpet instructor in college 😎
An engineering tour de force! THANK YOU, EVERYONE, especially John Williams!

I cannot believe that this sound was captured with everyone in their respective homes. Truly remarkable. Goosebumps and tears! Thank you
John Williams is a genius how someone hears all the sounds of an ochestra in his mind and then puts in on paper is beyond me
Especially since he doesn't use a computer for playback. He does it all in his head, and the first time he hears his own music played is the first recording session
Brought my entire family to tears. This is such a wonderful Tribute. Thank you to the wonderful musicians, John, and Keith.

You are the greatest John!
Thanks to Keith and the entire orchestra for this splendid and dedicated performance!
John Williams the GOAT!
Since moving to Hawaii I truly miss the Pops especially Their 4th of July performance on The Common

Just stunning. The details you hear in this dry/close recording are so fantastic. More of these, please!
Wonderful, Thank you for sharing this with all of us!
Thank you all. John Williams is MY musical hero . From early days in high school and college, having the privilege to play some of your music always brought a challenge and much joy. As a Nurse Practitioner and musician, I love everything about this. Thank you for bringing joy to us all!

My high schools band played Summon The Heroes and one of the trumpeters in the band did the solo. It was amazing and I really enjoyed it.
Maestro Keith, John, and the musicians, Thank YOU! This was beautiful and simply amazing! I am hopeful for the future! 🙏🏾❤️
Can you even imagine the work needed to coordinate this. I doubt it'll ever be done again! This is incredible!!!
