    Listen to that slower tempo! He really is digging in now and is looking for further clarity of notes and rhythms, clean balance, and is now focusing on different and unique voicings that were lost in earlier recordings. Truly it is like witnessing an older Franz List age like the finest of wine. I feel like he has yet to make his own Beethoven's Late String Quartets or Listz's "Sonata in B minor", with their forward looking harmonies and styles and simple but lazer focused melodies.
    Boston and the BSO and Boston Pops are what truly move and/or inspire him to compose some of the best film music ever made.
    Also, I agree with Maestro William's comments about the BSO and Boston Pops. Such excellent musicians that have been performing at peak levels for decades. My personal favorite concerts and recordings are from John Williams and the Boston Pop and Symph. Always a very warm and well shaped tone, and excellent communication between conductor and orchestra that is readily conveyed to the audience that creates a sublime listening experience. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

    I believe it is correct to say that film composers have become the Classical Music composers of the last 50 to 75 years, and John Williams is among the very best. Think about it. The great Classical composers of the past would marvel at todays film scores and likely want to try scoring many films themselves.

    • @Koldeman
      @Koldeman Год назад

      100% yes. The operas, commissioned symphonies, & selections composed for a royal court are what the film, stage musical, television, & even video game scores represent in present day vernacular. Its functions are nearly identical, but to the "elite musical connesuer", the "mass media" composer is looked down upon as a lesser artistic endeavor - which is a mistake & history will prove the fallacy of that arrogance/ignorance. One wonders what music lovers will think of contemporary artists like Williams some 2, 3, or 4 hundred years from now. I suspect they will elevate him among the greats of the latter half of the 20th century into the first decades of the 21st. He has left an indelible mark, no doubt about that! What amazes me the most is how he still has so much energy & continuing integrity as a composer going into his 90s! This man is a legend among us.

    When you first hear star wars, super man, etc etc you don't think about this side of the film. But when you see and hear it, you then begin to realise how much music is the films life blood and not just a theme tune

    Williams is a genius. I love his tribute, in the Imperial March, to one of my favorites, Gustav Holst's "Mars, The Bringer of Wars" from "The Planets". Listen starting about the 3:25 mark, and then it goes into the same 5/4 time. All very cool.

    • @The80sBoy
      @The80sBoy 2 года назад +1

      Not 5/4, it is still in 3/4. This continual reference back to Mars from The Planets is well passed its sell by date. We should all just enjoy the music and the man for as long as we have him.

    For over fifty years I have followed, purchased, and attended in concert the work of John Williams, the greatest film composer of all time - far ahead of any composer of original scores: Hermann, Korngold, Jarre, Steiner, Goldsmith, Bernstein (Elmer), Rozsa, Barry and even the great Alfred Newman. Williams has bested all of them. Thanks John, for nearly 70 years of original scores. You will live forever in cinema history as the greatest film composer of all (GOAT).

    • @rnw2739
      @rnw2739 4 месяца назад

      No he hasn't. He is superb of course, but in no way has he 'bested' as you called it, Goldsmith or Herrmann. He plays Herrmann at concerts all the time plus, it was revealed there is a lot of plagiarism within the Star Wars themes where Williams has taken and slightly modified lesser known classical pieces, which are now more recognised as Star Wars cues!! I thought his work was all original but it isn't. This is the main reason he isn't the top.

    John Williams is the greatest American composer and conductor, including Bernstein. I love the way he speaks, his totally American sound. He represents the best our culture has to offer, in the midst of a culture that is otherwise in decline.

    You can listen (and you all probably have) to many good orchestras playing John Williams' film pieces. But when you listen to the Bostonians directed by the Maestro himself, well... with each body movement, even the most miniscule one, they are basically saying: here's how it should be played, and here's how it should sound. It's EXACTLY like in the CDs we all have at our homes - when you put them in your hifi unit - the music you hear will be EXACTLY the same. Like I said, many great orchestras in the world have played these pieces, but we all can hear the tiny (and not so tiny) differences and nuances and we;re like: oh, OK, I get it, it sounds a bit off here and there. But when you listen to this... man! it's not a concert. It's more like being presented with the fidelity and truth of the purest form.
