I Rode a KX 500 for years, and I’m sorry I don’t still have it! It was a blast. Better bottom end and revs out farther, which is why it won so many Baja’s, Enduros, and Hill climbs! I used to whoop on the XR600’s and XR650’s, oh and whoop on the banshees in the sand. I never really had the opportunity to whoop on the CR500… The only bad thing: You go through the back tires in 1/2 a day of hard riding, lol

Great bike! Solid design. You forgot to mention that it still holds the "WORLDS FASTEST DIRTBIKE" Honors. It took them some 20 years to do it, but Kawasaki finally beat out the venerable 1981 KTM 495, 123.75 mph crackin' old speed record for the top spot. Still waiting for that electric start to show up....♿

There are only a few problems with this build. 1. It's a KX500. 2. There are less production parts available then the CR500. The only 500 that has aftermarket production parts available is the CR500. 3. The 500cc market has blossomed the last 20yrs. There is only one company that has so far the capabilites to mass produce 500cc two strokes. That is Built500 a.k.a Service Honda. I love to see other companies get into the 500cc Conversions. But, can they all meet the demands the same as Built500?

I rode both back in the day and, as much of a beast as the CR500 is, the KX downright scared me at times. That torque he's talking about ain't no joke...
That is cool you can just bolt in and out back with original! For simplicity for one!!! and you can save the original and put back to original if you want to resale as original or for show/museum or what ever! You dont have to hack the thing to get it to work! So cool! Also completely off topic but when you are running a huge 500cc engine especially why not have a kick stand. I know you saving weight but also it is a beast! Why did all bikes in that era and probably now idk just put a kickstand on them and if you are worried about extra 1.5lbs or idk maybe 2lbs what ever and just be able to remove them. I hate messing with stands..... rather pay the price to be a small percentage heavier. Also I never raced sooo.. lol But assume most of us didnt we just played.

I don't understand why 2 strokes are still going so strong and yet motorcycle industries are shifting the whole production towards shitty underpowered 4 strokes? When I was a teenager, during the 90s, whoever was riding a 4 stroke was considered a loser
