    I had recently picked this same 12 string for 80$ the string buzz made this unplayable, however a quick trip to my local guitar shop , the owner fixed the bow with finess, tested it and the metal parts between the frets were lifted, used these wooden blocks and what looked like a two pronged rod that made a clean hum . Guy is fairly aged but knew what to do it plays great!! Great buy!

      @@einermeza6400 its a simple fix dont fret (get it? Ehehh) take it to your local guitar shop, let them play it and they should know what needs to be done. at best 10 bucks . Ive learned to appreciate both 6 and 12 string each having their place its a good guitar, the strings it comes with are bad though they should be changed for a good sound

    I received a vangoa 12 string for Christmas. I was highly impressed by the look and the finish. I found no flaws in body or neck finish. After a bit of tuning with included tuner, I was up and running. The set up from factory was beautiful. And 12 string guitars are not easy to play. I highly recommend these guitars, they sound great and don't break the bank to own one.

    Turning knobs were really tight and cheap. Tuning up, my G string broke, so I got the strings replaced, and the guitar store was telling me all about the other issues about how the knobs were way to close together, the fretboard was dipping into the tuning hole, and the bridge was falling off; after one day of play. I tried tuning up again, and the low D string broke. So I went and bought me an Ibanez 12 string for around $350. It's a bit more expensive, but it is a name brand that I can trust not to fall apart on me. Was hoping this was going to be a good 12 string for my collection, but ended up just failing on me. Wasn't even worth selling back or selling to others. Now it sits in my garage as a wooden paperweight. Your review was good though, and you made it sound better than mine ever did.

    Nice job on this review; thanks!
    The capo: You should have tried moving it back a little away from the fret you had it behind, to see whether it would hold any better.
    That said, I agree that it looks non-12-string-ready. A 12 needs a stronger capo than what would work fine on a 6; that one doesn't appear to have that extra firmness. And its failure to match the lateral curve of the fretboard, is a deal-breaker.
    I'd also recommend getting a hard-shell case to use for travel, rather than that soft gig-bag. Is there such a case on the market that's tailored to fit this guitar?

    When you pick up or down push the pick lightly against the string beside it and hold it on the string preventing that string from playing and it won't vibrate. It will help to have a good tuning of each individual string. Use a light pick when playing that flexible pick will hit both strings at once

    Hey man nice review. Do you think this guitar can handle the pressure of two normal strings instead of the octaves or would it be too much pressure for the guitar?

    • @DoctorMcFarlandStudios
      @DoctorMcFarlandStudios  4 года назад +1

      I don't see why it would be an issue.

    • @markharwood7573
      @markharwood7573 4 года назад +1

      The nut and saddle grooves would be too narrow. The tuning could be an issue and the extra tension certainly would. Maybe try it on an old beater, with very light strings. Let us know!

    • @joseorlando9877
      @joseorlando9877 3 года назад

      So is it fine to put two normal strings ?

    • @ffggddss
      @ffggddss 3 года назад

      As I understand it, the gauge of each string is supposed to bring it to the correct pitch with equal tension on every string, so if you duplicate each main string with an identical unison string, rather than a thinner gauge octave string, the tension shouldn't be an issue, like the Doc says.
      Of course, to do that, you'd need to buy two 6-string packs of strings, because I don't think any 12-string sets would give you the collection you'd need.
      However, like Mark points out, the grooves the strings pass through, won't fit the "fatter" strings you'd need to do this.

    The High G String is the highest string on these Guitars so they use a .009 (or thinner) to minimize its tension. Octave4Plus went up to a High B via .006 High B String.

    So many CAPO users, teachers too, say to install the capo tool directly between any two frets, on the guitars finger board.
    The method used here is to the extreme opposite. I'd reccomend trying the capo, or even a different brand capo - DIRECTLY between TWO frets Tight and STRAIGHT onto the FRET BOARD. 👍✅💯🎵🤷

    • @ffggddss
      @ffggddss 3 года назад +1

      You mean mid-way between frets? I've found it can help to try different placements between frets; but if the capo just isn't strong enough, there's no placement that will work.
      The apparent weakness of this capo, and on top of that, its failure to match the lateral curve of the fretboard, make it wrong for this guitar.

      I believe that bridge lifting is quite a norm with these. But I don't think it is that bad because you can tune it 1 or half step down. It used to be a norm for 12 strings in the 70s. Plus you can glue it back.

    hello friend I greet you from Guatemala I had some doubts since I plan to compare one of these guitars I play what has been regional Mexican and in that style they are only played with a 12-string guitar and I wanted to ask you if this guitar can or can withstand putting double strings , that is to say, put 2 packages of 6 strings on the 12-string guitar and forget about the octaves, do I explain myself? since that's how they are used in that style
    another question, does the bridge have some kind of reinforcement?
