Installed RDR2 on it today, counted from top of my head launching from the title screen, took about 28 seconds, and I think I was counting a bit fast. Very nice. :) used to take more than a minute before on HHD, and I have one of the fastest one, so I'd say it's a nice upgrade. :)
I own a wd black sn 730 1tb and I used it as the main drive in addition to 4 HDD for storage and now I decided to buy SK hynix gold p31 500gb and I preferred it to Samsung to use it for the system and I use wd sn730 for games and programs and the rest is used for data storage. What do you think of this procedure? Will I benefit in terms of speed of performance, especially in loading games?
LOL! YES. While it isn't for sure... Doing a quick Google Search turns out that the Xbox One is Region Free... I think it would be safe to assume the Series XlS will continue the same trend. Btw... If you wanted too, you could use this Product on your Xbox Series XlS via an External NVMe Enclosure.
its difficult to find this here in Europe...would cost 250 USD...so I ordered one from Amazon USA for 140 USD incl shipping. I use this SSD for my Macbook Pro 2015...because of its efficiency ... since we are now in 2023...3500mbs is not fast anymore...but i didn't buy it for the speed...my MB can max reach 1500mbs only...I bought it because it won' drain my battery that fast like a Samsung would...
Is it pcle gen 4? Edit: just found out that this is gen 3 and is over 200 pounds for the 1tb variant is not worth it at all you could get a gen 4 1tb for the Same or less
It usually costs $135 in US. I got 1TB version on Amazon deals for $100 and it's really fast... perfomance wise up there next to Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 980, etc. I could have got a Samsung 980 for the same price when I was picking between the two NVME SSDs but I had bad luck with Corsair and WD NVME SSDs.. so I decided to try out something different and got 1TB SK Hynix Gold P31. It's still a major brand as far as memory goes but it's their first NVME SSD. So far it's been excellent. Fingers crossed nothing happens with P31. To be exact I had a Corsair MP510 die on me within 3 months (I got it basically at release), then WD Blue NVME died on me. I tested both SSDs on 3 different systems and they were dead. The problem was Corsair MP510 was it started slowly disconnecting randomly and then randomly working for a bit. It was a rival to 970 or 970 EVO... wasn't cheap but started dying within 3 months of pretty light usage. I would avoid Corsair NVME and WD Blue NVME personally but maybe I just had bad luck.
@@Vicious6969 I did make this comment 7 months ago so yeah it's probably alot cheaper rn and more worth it. I currently have an mp510 which I've had for close to a year now it does run hot tho so that's what light have broken yours
I cant tell u about the 980 pro but compared to the 970 evo plus the hynix is its equal and is better in iops By far.. temps are much cooler with the hynix getting barely warm....I hear andru saying Samsung 980 PRO NVMe wouldnt work in ps5 becuz it is pcie 4.0 and requires a 4.0 drive BUT the 980 samsung IS a 4.0 drive brother! I cant believe he didnt know that.
I'm looking forward to replacing my Sabrent Rocket 500GB with this for my Xbox One X. 500GB was no way big enough for current Gen and I know it won't be able for Next Gen. But with this, a 500GB T5, 512GB Sabrent Rocket, a 1TB Expansion drive for Series X ... I'm going all SSDs for everything Next Gen!
@@thugis07 On paper Yes it is. The 1TB Sabrent Rocket tops out @ 3400Read/3000Write for $150. But right now on Amazon you can get it for $30 off making it cheaper than this drive by $10 but that's a limited time.
Am running an HDD cause it's what I could afford at the time of my build. Was researching new ones and wondering why most are limited to 560mbps speeds then saw this one. I'll give it a shot, a couple of my online PC games are definitely choppy with my HDD at times.
I have the legion amd version and I actually bought a second one of these in 2tb form cause our laptops come with three ports, only two useable at a time tho
I have the hymix p31 gold and the evo 970 plus ..both 500gb...The are neck in neck as far as benchmarks BUT the hynix blows away the samsung as far as iops by almost achieving its factory rating while with the samsung, the iops are about half of their claim, especially the read iops..The other area the hynix far exceeds the evo is temps... it runs wayy cooler as in 20c cooler than the samsung..it barely gets warm with a heatsink on it. Lastly and sadly, it will Not in any way work in a mac...at all.. it will prevent mac from booting, even if u have a working mac drive installed...the hynix will cause a kernel panic over driver issues and firmware...i tried everything and its a pity becuz I was going to choose it over the evo after comparing both but I want to use it to dual boot windows and mac and while it works sweet in win 10, its a no go for any mac use...I checked everywhere for firmware updates for the hynix becuz i have a limited window to try and then return it...no joy.. noone mentions it although hynix has acknowleged that its incompatible with mac..they offer no fix.. what a shame.. it will probably have a firmware update but I may have to return mine b4 that.. Im not gonna keep it Hoping that hynix will fix the issue later.
Installed mine in my new Alienware M15 R5. Very impressed with the speed and quality of the product. Faster speeds than Samsung at a value price. Cheers.

Will I need a thermal pad for in a laptop? ( Msi Prestige 15 10th gen intel)
Most likely i got one just in case

What do you think of this procedure?

wait so can i put this in my laptop like literally inside
Does this need or come with a heat sink
Will this work for ps5?
What adapter will enable this to be used as the boot volume in a Z840? What drivers need to be installed to recognize this drive?
just install windows on the drive, and set the boot drive in your bios to the nvme
I know this doesn't relate to this amazing product but can the Xbox Series S/X from the UK work in the United States ?
LOL!
You would need a voltage converter tho.

SK Hynix vs Samsung?
Can you compare this to the Samsung 980 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD 1TB (MZ-V8P1T0BW)?
Will this be compatible with PS5? 🤔
PS5 will require PCIe 4.0 drives, so this wouldn't be compatible there!

WAT? 3.500 MEGA BYTES PER SECOND? WOW. FUTURE IS NOW. (It’s just like 3.5 gigs per second.)
Samsung 980 Evo can do 7,000 mb per sec

Not yet - PS5 doesn’t support expansion yet, but also, you’ll need a PCIe 4.0 drive actually - so this wouldn’t work since it’s 3.0.
