Wow bro. Good review. Good presentation. Good pacing. Well-scripted. Keto up the great work. The small random files performance is terrible relative to others at the same price point. That SKHynix drive is now
QUESTION: My laptop from 2011 is a Dell Latitude e6420. It came with a Kingston 128GB SSD when I got it. This Kingston 128GB SSD takes exactly 17 Seconds to Boot every time. But when I cloned to a 1TB SK Hynix SSD with DRAM, it actually made the Boot times longer. The laptop now takes 20 Seconds to Boot. Why would it take longer with a SSD that is so much larger and includes DRAM?
Thanks for the review. I was just on eBay looking for 2x 500GB SSD drives to raid together to use as a cache drive in unRAID and came across this brand. I have never heard of SK Hynix before, but there were tons of sales on eBay for them.
Your welcome! If you're seeing a lot of the same product on sale, I reckon it's wholesalers or such selling their excess OEM inventory. This means you won't get fancy consumer packaging or instructions since they bought the drives from the manufacturer in bulk. You'll save some money and probably receive the drive in bubble wrap or a plain box.
I'd say if you see a good price on an SSD (especially on a Cyber Monday type sale), it's not worth waiting to see if it gets any cheaper. In fact, it would have been cheaper for me to buy an SSD back in 2018 instead of waiting - the same model is more expensive today! *shrug*
It is not publicly stated that this drive does not work as an external drive until I checked their homepage, most of the FAQ recommend to use it as internal drive only... In my case, I use it with an external enclosure, and I could not get it to be recognized in Windows 10, but it is working perfectly in Ubuntu. Any advice for me?
Did you partition your drive? Right click start window and open disk management - then partition and format. You should be able to use any internal drive externally.
I did partition it... however, i just figured out that i had to assign the drive letter manually after partitioning then it could be shown in the my computer app.
@@billynguyen1010 I'm glad you found a way. That's an odd problem though... have you ever had other drives show this kind of behavior, like a flash drive or SD card reader?
@@FirstL00k I have been using the Samsung 860 EVO and Crucial MX500 and other old mechanical drives with the same enclosures. None of them showed this kind of behavior. First time I tried the SK Hynix due to the flash sale on Amazon last month. I got the 1TB version for $85 only.
First confirm if your lappy has a free 2.5" slot. Nitro 5 might actually have an nvme m.2 slot, which is the smaller stick type. In that case, you can pick up the Gold S31 in the m.2 form factor, but make sure first.
Most any 2.5" drive will work with PS4 (SSD or HDD). Yes, you'll use the existing bracket from your current drive for the new one. I'm speaking from PS3 experience, but this will work for PS4; as far as I know, it'll work for drives up to 1TB of storage space. The only thing is, you'll have to format the drive once you install it and re-download all your games. You won't be able to transfer your games (but save games you can. Do this before swapping drives.)
The song credits are at the end of each video (it should be Silent Partner - Parasail.) It's a free song on RUclips for creators as long as you give them credit, I think.
Absolutely. This (and most other) SSD drives are so fast the PS4 won't be able to take full advantage of it. It's like sticking a Porsche racing engine into a wooden car - it'll definitely go faster, but can't use it 100%. It's a good problem to have.
I got this as a boot system for Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit for my graphics card. I honestly only care about the booting time the better the SSD the better the booting time your PC will run. I am not looking for a heavy amount of memory for storing the OS if I can use my HDD for software my computer will be overloaded.
@@FirstL00k I got a good question, I am working with the Oculus Rift will I get away with 10TB of HDD for the storage? I am looking for budget friendly options and I am running off a Ryzen 5 3600 6 + core 12 + thread processor using an MSI Armor Radeon RX 580 Graphics Card with 8GB of video memory and it claims it's VR Ready using LiquidVR technology plus it also runs with Vulkan.
Also all of my hardware is unlocked and has OC potential the graphics card claims to have silent fans for quiet gaming and claims to run at 4k resolution according to google it's a Full HD Graphics Card but the FPS doesn't look that bad.
It's an MSI GL2VR - review of it is here: ruclips.net/video/mYOMxdZN2QI/видео.html Quick specs, 16GB RAM, Intel i7 7700, Nvidia GeForce 1060, 512GB NVMe storage. This machine offered the best specs for the money at the time, plus it had space for 2.5" storage. Great machine with not so good battery life because the video card requires so much power.
Great review, clear and concise
Thanks, it's much appreciated!
Thank you very much for making this complete review video.
You're welcome! Glad it helped!
Hello it is compatible with windows 10, and acer e15 laptop ????
what kind of program do I need for cloning?
Thank you freind

And SK Hynix has been manufacturing semiconductors for a very long time (there are only a handful of of those kinds of companies in the world.)
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Does it have a dram cache?
it does, just ordered one off amazon and it says right in the desc. that it has a dram cache
And the price has come down but the ability is still excellent.

Should I get this or the 870 evo
In terms of real-world reliability and speed, I'd say they're very close. I'd choose whichever one is on sale.

Hynix makes a damn good product…
High performance levels on their products, I agree. And one of the few manufacturers left that actually own their own factories.
I like the musix
Any good for ps4 pro that u may know of?

Good presentation. Organized and informative. But Apple FTW! XD
Thanks, I appreciate it! Haha, Apple... it's funny you say that, I've been avoiding them since PowerPc clones disappeared in the late 90s!

That's a great move, your OS is something you use every time you turn on your computer while everything else is not. Good priority.
