I have had to cut wet more than once this year. I just strap on the backpack blower and scatter the clippings all over the lawn. The clumps break up and scatter nicely enough. Now to wash and detail my mower... I gotta say this, I can't believe you don't use a zero turn.
I pull out the 190cc 21" mower with rear bag and high lift blades when the grass is wet. It works well. My 42" tractor has a 2 bin bagger but tends to clog the tubes with wet clippings like yours.
I feel like I'm fighting the rain all season in GA. I'm going to have the opposite problem as you because I didn't get it done before the rains hit so now I'll be bailing hay when I cut it later this week. I've got the added problem that my hard is on a serious slope so I can't mow unless it's bone dry or I just rut up the yard.
Well I cut grass when it is wet, but I use a catcher while mowing. But then again it rains to much during winter for me to be picky about what days I cut it. I always wash the mower and catcher when done though.
I found an easy way to knock the dew off. I set my mower one setting lower, but not engage the blades and drive around the lawn. 30 minutes later I can then cut the grass.
We have predictable weather here in Everett WA and with HOA breathing down our necks saying keep the yard trim...Well if it rains like every other day then I need to find another way to mow the lawn with a mower that is not electric or have bad clumping in the debris chute
I do a few yards in Central Florida - which, in the summer means 100% humidity and almost daily showers from April - September. I won't cut a wet yard. There are plenty who will, but I just can't take money from my customers for doing a lousy job. It's not just messy - the grass leaves tend to slide on the mower blades and tear more when they're wet, no matter how sharp your mower blades. And torn grass is not good grass cutting. That means leaving some slack in my schedule, but I fill in those wet blanks with a little pressure washing on the side - that, I can do in the rain.
I really like your channel, your voice is calming. Your yard looks wonderful. One suggestion though when your tractor dies, check into stand on mowers. They are more expensive, but they are more maneuverable. Just a suggestion.
There's a much easier way. After mowing, just adjust your blade height up and quickly run over the wet clumps. If you're using mulching blades, remove the chute cover. The higher blades will lift up the clumps, break them up, and spread the grass. You may have to do this (the clumps) two or three times. Been doing this for years. No problems. Of course, when cutting (wet or dry), stay off the driveways and sidewalks.
Thank you. I rented an aerator and of course forgot to cut the night before. Have dew on the grass and looked this up. I even had deserted pvc 10ft pipe in the garage that I was able to utilize.
Doc, how often do you mow your Bermuda yard this time of year? I'm having to mow mine literally every other day. Granted, I am using a manual reel to cut. But since I mow it so often, I rarely have a ton of clippings at all. I've also looked into using a plant growth regulator as well, but I'm too cheap right now to pull the trigger on it. Lol
What's up Doc, (i just had to say that,i couldn't help myself) I've watched a couple of your video's now and i think you're a hoot,so funny. Thanks for all your exspareience and guidance.Your house, lawns and gardens look amazing.I'm still going back over your previous vid's,awesome keep up the good work. Thanks Kevin NZ
I've tried to mow before the rain then usually get soaked on and finish cutting the grass in the rain sucks when that happens. best thing is when you finish mowing get everything done, once you finish putting everything away it rains
Your blower doesn't blow very well, you should check out Ego's lawn products. Their trimmer and blower are awesome. I also have their mower which is great too.
Off topic question. I noticed your pool does not have a cage. Is that the norm where you live? Down here in FL pretty much everyone goes with a cage. Otherwise the mosquitos would feast and the snakes would be sharing the pool . Great vid by the way. Thx
I’d put end caps on the pipe with small holes for your paracord to run through it and fill the PVC with sand. That would be good weight but not too heavy to drag around.
Hi DOC I live in the El Paso, TX hot as hell out here. Does your Bermuda calendar work regardless of where you live in the country? I know GA usually tends to get more rain than here "Out in the West Texas town of El Paso". I thought I had a worm problem just so happened I wasn't watering it enough. I watered twice a day for an hour for about a week and a half and now im down to 45min twice a day. My grass is coming back thanks to your videos. You once said that bermuda never dies just stays dormant. Keep up the good work #ihaveyardenvy
Hey doc Love you videos no I have beautiful Bermuda grass. Wondering if adding spray foam to your dew (off my lawn) contraption would work ,?giving extra manageable weight...🤔
We have temps in the 100-108 range with no rain in sight. We start mandatory water rationing this week, any advice to help keep my Bermuda healthy during this heat wave?
Doc Pleas Help!!! Thanks for all the great videos! I have a huge field cricket infestation in my Bermuda lawn. What do you reccomened using to kill these things without harming my Bermuda?
Why not just wait until the rain has passed? And why does it need to be cut before the storm, seems like a little patience would have saved you a lot of extra work
Your yard look beyond amazing. I just want grass low, what method? How it look after? I dont care, I just want it cut before the city give me "The notice" 🤦♀️🤦♀️. Today, I cut half of my yard right before the rain pouring down, that is how I find your video 🤣
Sometimes I just grab the blower and go through my yard if I HAVE to cut wet. It seems like you're in GA based on your rain comments and the bugs I can hear in all the videos.
Oh man, I am the same way, I absolutely HATE to cut wet grass for exactly the same reason and my neighbor does all the time, he don't care but I am like wth
Or you could just live in Florida, there is no "front lawn" there's sand, sand and more sand. Maybe a little crab grass, a bush, then just some more sand.
All I do is just Grab that good lawn mower and Cut the grass and get my weed wacker and get the parts I missed and i'm done , Back in the house I go into the shower then get dressed and Out the door for the day.😇😇😇😇
Me! Always have to put a shirt covering my nose. It makes me cringe when I see people cutting grass and all them breathing all that stuff in. Even if It didn't affect me like that, I'd still wear a mask

If I have to cut wet hrs I use my bag and no clumping, try that likeyou said, it gets full and heavy quicker so you just have to empty it more 😀
That grass is so beautiful I feel like shouting at you for walking on it
Wet clippings on concrete? Don't have TIME to power wash a customers driveway. Help
Yeah try to cut every time before it rains and with this weather it 2 to 5 days between rain showers NE Atlanta 285 and 85

I’m gonna trust whatever you say because that lawn is beautiful!

I never knew what the valve thing was for! learn something new every day.
Sir you have a wonderfull lawn!! Love em greenies
I found an easy way to knock the dew off. I set my mower one setting lower, but not engage the blades and drive around the lawn. 30 minutes later I can then cut the grass.
I also use your method but I "dry" in one direction and cut in the opposite. 2018 wettest June and July ever..
We have predictable weather here in Everett WA and with HOA breathing down our necks saying keep the yard trim...Well if it rains like every other day then I need to find another way to mow the lawn with a mower that is not electric or have bad clumping in the debris chute
But wouldn’t the clippings dry up
What species of grass is that?

Cool video, would you need to still spray and clean it if it wasn’t wet? Thinking about getting one...

hey Doc, thanks for able the comments!!!
You sir...are a scholar and a gentleman. I can get behind that. Love your dew method. ...liked & sub'd.
Thank you. I rented an aerator and of course forgot to cut the night before. Have dew on the grass and looked this up. I even had deserted pvc 10ft pipe in the garage that I was able to utilize.
What type of grass is that
What a beautiful lawn!!

I really could it every 3 days... but usually every 4 or so.

Attach a push broom just ahead of your mower. Works well.
I've tried to mow before the rain then usually get soaked on and finish cutting the grass in the rain sucks when that happens. best thing is when you finish mowing get everything done, once you finish putting everything away it rains
Live by my weather app. Hour by hour and then the radar in motion. You can just about pinpoint it.
Great video! An old rubber garden hose works great to whip the wet grass also. It has a bit more weight.
Doc has a video on how to remove dew using a garden hose.
We must be in the same region I just did the same thing for the same reason of weather moving in
I've actually blown the dew off the grass with my 580 BTS and cut it a couple of hours later! Probably wouldn't try on a large lawn though.
You can cut wet grass with a reel mower when you catch the clippings.
Your blower doesn't blow very well, you should check out Ego's lawn products. Their trimmer and blower are awesome. I also have their mower which is great too.
Are you cutting the wet grass or are leaving it
omg, this lawn looks perfect, like a carpet... how to achieve this ?:)
Had to cut my grass wet. How do I remove the grass stains off the concrete? Tried laundry detergent. Didn’t work 😥. HELP
Bleach and a brush.... rinse...repeat.
Off topic question. I noticed your pool does not have a cage. Is that the norm where you live? Down here in FL pretty much everyone goes with a cage. Otherwise the mosquitos would feast and the snakes would be sharing the pool . Great vid by the way. Thx
We have enough property that we can control them. www.howtowithdoc.com/mosquito-control-sprays-for-home-and-lawn/
I’d put end caps on the pipe with small holes for your paracord to run through it and fill the PVC with sand. That would be good weight but not too heavy to drag around.
Thought of that.... but would lose the connecting rod. Still playing.
How about using scaffold tube... heavier and wouldn't require filling with any medium. Could be dried off after use and before storing til next time.
You have a beautiful back yard I must say that
Nice lawn. Where do you live? I’m guessing somewhere not too hot!
GA...
Great idea!!!! I had a buddy that owned a golf course and he use to do that every morning!!!!!!!

Yes, just adjust the times slightly. The big one is pre-emergent. You need to time that based on soil temp for your area.
I'm in Texas too!
I’ve been there . Sucks having to rake up all that wet crap
I enjoyed it thanks for the tips

Water HEAVY during the allowed times... that's about all you can do. The ROOTS... will be fine but grass may suffer some burn out.
At least you beat the rain 😉 Really enjoying your channel content. Thanks for all you do, Doc
Doc, that looks easier and less time consuming than dragging the water hose. I will try this method if I'm able to cut in the morning. Great video!!!
Welcome to another episode of where did quarantine lead me to watch today
Fucking true
Doc Pleas Help!!! Thanks for all the great videos! I have a huge field cricket infestation in my Bermuda lawn. What do you reccomened using to kill these things without harming my Bermuda?
Maybe orthos bug be gon for lawns. Just read the label for crickets.
How To with Doc Awesome thanks for the fast response Doc. We will give it a 💉 I will let you know how it works. Thanks again
It's easier to mow tall or even overgrown grass than wet grass 🤔
If you were worried about clumps of wet grass, why didn’t you just bag it?
Why not just wait until the rain has passed? And why does it need to be cut before the storm, seems like a little patience would have saved you a lot of extra work
Been well wet in the uk 🇬🇧 it's a pain in the
This guy must know Hank Hill 🤣
How many times in life will I have the opportunity to view something thirty six seconds after it posts? I had to view this as first priority.
I have no idea how I ended up here, but here in Ireland your grass never has a chance to dry.
Can I scalp in July ? Or only once a year?
True scalp only in spring. You can take back some after good rain.
Yes we live by the weather...love the channel
How tall is your Bermuda at this time sir?
2" …. long for me.
What height are you mowing at now?
At about 2"... pretty long.
Looks great! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.
Your yard look beyond amazing. I just want grass low, what method? How it look after? I dont care, I just want it cut before the city give me "The notice" 🤦♀️🤦♀️. Today, I cut half of my yard right before the rain pouring down, that is how I find your video 🤣
Why is it so important to cut grass immediately. I haven't cut my grass in 3 months.
Beautiful lawn
Damn your channel is super helpful
That was a great idea DAM ..I hate cut grass laying on fresh cut yard and that's GOD.
You’re doing all this to serve what purpose again...?
your grass is A1 bro
Watching him throttle mower all the up and then engaging the blade. That's a no no. No more than half throttle engage blade then throttle up.👍
what mower deck height is your deck ? not sure what part of the country you are in, but summer cutting height should be 4"-41/2"
It's Bermuda... not fescue. Proper cutting height is 3/4" to 1.5"
Sometimes I just grab the blower and go through my yard if I HAVE to cut wet. It seems like you're in GA based on your rain comments and the bugs I can hear in all the videos.
At 2:10 this guy kinda looks like tom Hanks
Oh man, I am the same way, I absolutely HATE to cut wet grass for exactly the same reason and my neighbor does all the time, he don't care but I am like wth
Watering it has the same effect as the water evaporates much faster than the mineral rich dew…
Amazing video and amazing channel and amazing job friend 😀😎👍❤
This dude cares a lot about his grass
I can imagine your neighbors were not too happy with you on this particular day of mowing and power washing
Thanks dude!
This is the most dad video I have ever seen
Or you could just live in Florida, there is no "front lawn" there's sand, sand and more sand. Maybe a little crab grass, a bush, then just some more sand.
Your lawn is amazing. I have to go out and cut wet grass or my father in law will kill me lol
Keep your deck coated with graphite and that crap will dry and fall off no more having to wash your deck out
If you pull your mower backwards with the grass collector bag on after cutting it sucks all the grass up no problem. I dont see the big deal.
As soon as the weather clears up its important to de thatch as soon as possible and repeat it the next week as well.
Looks like my local authority have been round and cut your grass.
Love the dogs man!! Awesome video.
All I do is just Grab that good lawn mower and Cut the grass and get my weed wacker and get the parts I missed and i'm done , Back in the house I go into the shower then get dressed and Out the door for the day.😇😇😇😇
I just get the kids in my basement to pull it out 1 by 1
Use a Scythe. Be a man!
I say we lock him up for life the things he has done to that poor grass is beyond human like
Me too
I know this might sound weird but that lawn looks so good I’d make sweet love to it
Who else is allergic to grass and gets very itchy skin.
Me! Always have to put a shirt covering my nose. It makes me cringe when I see people cutting grass and all them breathing all that stuff in. Even if It didn't affect me like that, I'd still wear a mask
Ya but.... now you washed all that crappie little grass pop soup in the street ! Now go clean the street!!! Lol
I bet you ruined your white NB shoes
Recycle that grass from the rinse into the garden..
Ohhhh NO!!!! Wet Grass
No disrespect, but that was carpet, you need to do a video in which you actually mow grass.
Pick one from the 200.... ruclips.net/channel/UCtpdUcJ3jBHxbkgUzRHuRegvideos
Ewww. Yeap I wait till my grass is dry
Good funny
