In his case him "relaxing" means that his team had to use all their energy very early on, because he sat in a group a minute behind "relaxing." Which resulted in him having no teammates for the last 100 km.
Hey made everything right in this race as i cxan say from my himble point of view. He was again the salt in the soup. I love his fighter style. The win is almost second important. His performance during the race was brilliant and entertaining as always. As he said he made the decisive move (for all) and could hold pace up till the end. Powerful. Fighter.
Destroying your own team in the beginning of the race is not "doing it right." There is a pattern that the other teams know by this point, that if you can set hard tempo in the beginning of the race, you can bring MvP in difficulty and make him spend a lot of energy of him and the team right from the word go, because he always takes naps.
@@holmbjerg Hm, okay. And where did HE destroy his own team? By letting the team bring him back to the he front again? Just to understand what u are talking about..
@@nils_on_wheels By letting himself get caught out twice and yes having his team put in a huge effort to bring him back. If he had paid more attention, it would not have been necessary. And as I said, there is a pattern, he very often end up having to catch back up, and the other teams know that they can catch him not paying attention.
@@holmbjerg well that's possible sure. He wasn't visible the whole first part of the route. Maybe they just didn't expect these kinda tactics so early. There were many other favorite riders in the back as well at that time if i remember right. So... I can't tell if we can blame HIM for these problems. Nevertheless he is a killer and did a lot right in this race. And i am excited about Roubaix. Let's see what comes next 👍🏻🤙🏻
These guys are changing cycling... It's been so refreshing the last 3 years. I now look for all the classics and can't wait to watch the tours every year.... And I'm not even a roady!!! 🚀🚀🚀
Awesome ride. I wonder if he could have stuck with Pog over the kwaremont if he didn't have the little snafu with his chain where he had to close about a 10 bike length gap just a few minutes earlier. As goes racing I suppose.
probably not. Pogacar made a huge gap on the Kwaremont. He was just better on the day. They're both extremely talented, but the Oude Kwaremont just suits Pogacar more than van der Poel, it's so long and there's not a sharp turn at the bottom, they hit it at speed. A TdF rider is somewhat disadvantaged on some of the other climbs when they take a 90 degree turn at the bottom. They never train for that. van der Poel, OTOH, spends part of his year doing cyclocross and he's the best at the world at it. Lots of accelerations from low speed. TdF GC specialists almost never encounter that situation so it would be a waste of time for them to develop proficiency. And that's what makes Pogacar special. Only 3 riders have won Tour of Flanders and Tour de France. Louison Bobet, Eddy Merckx and Pogacar. There's no shame for van der Poel to not be quite at the same level at this race, he can hold his head high and from the looks of it, he is doing just that.
I think he would have. Absolutely massive effort after the chain came off - essentially a max effort, which definitely would have taken away his top-end power on the Kwaremont.
This guy isn't going to be one of the best of all times. He already is, at 28...insane. His best years are yet to come. The level of performance is so far beyond my comprehension... Just wow.
MVP used up energy in his chase back to the group his dropped chain also cost him another bit when pace was high too high to afford a dropped chain. He also lacked team mates he held the gap to Pog on the flat. Pog can only be beaten by MVP, Remco, WVa when they at their best they can win period. They cant be on their best every race so we may never know who is the best.
Pogacar seems too good to be true…. Always competes for the win in every race he does. No clean rider has ever done this in the history of cycling. But innocent until proven guilty….
look at his Team, how many UAE riders, sports directors or doctors have either been convicted of doping, had doping convictions in the past or have been under investigation for doping.... i'll tell you how many...several. Everything Pog does is highly questionable to me.
Bro of course he is doped. Guys like you crack me up. Why do you even bother worrying about it? All the top guys in the sport are doped. Who gives a fuck? Let's just enjoy the show.
I’m pretty impressed with his composure since there’s no way he doesn’t know what’s really happening. MVDP “felt good . . . relaxed,” saying, “I’ve never felt so strong;” but “Tadej is on a a different level.” There’s no doubt in my mind that TP’s Dr has discovered something new, for which they’ve yet to discover a test. Please bust him already, this is getting OLD!
So MVDP says he has a really good relationship with Pogacar who you say MVDP must know is definitely doping? Pretty odd to have a really good relationship with a guy he knows is a cheat if he’s clean himself. That would be pretty bizarre.
You don’t get this kind of true class in other sports. Chapeau Mathieu
Absolutely sure ?
What a stupid comment
MVP, WVA and Pogi are pure class. They are so talented and yet, so humble. It's nice to see such respect between them.
What a respectful guy MVDP is. Class act.
Happy with Pogacar win! Now my eyes and hope are on you Mathieu on Paris - Roubiax !
Wir lieben unser Tadchen Pogadchen.
I hope MVDP wins the Paris Roubaix this time.

Just a few minutes? Was it not like, more like an hour?
@hiimrezgaming9885 it was on the Taainberg, so about 9km before he was distanced on the kwaremont. So no, definitel not an hour.

I don't think so. MVDP has massive power and capability, but I still don't think anybody was catching Tadej today. Brilliant TT effort to the finish.
Très beau comportement de Mathieu qui aurait aussi mériter la victoire

nice to see humility and he obviously gets on better with TP than WVA 😜
gets along with wva just fine, don't make up stuff pls

@@Nosh_Feratu Exactly. Mauro Gianetti has a long history of doping his riders.

Many tactical mistakes from him. He managed to destroy his own team in the beginning of the race.

The move from Podocogar at the Kwaremont is impossible. It was typical you think, this is a mechanisch solution in the bike.

Chapeau Mathieu❤
