Itd be cool to see what happens after this ending, maybe toriel tales over the kingdom but is overthrown by undyne, just like in that ut neutral run, meaning that frisk can only exit by killing kanako or toriel, who are both boss monsters.

I finished the 1st phase and i got to the 2nd phase with no items because i needed to heal a lot cuz of the spam attacks, the 2nd phase looks easier but 20hp for healing isnt enough, any tips? and no by the time i get to the 2nd phase im still in the 1st phase mentality (lot of movement to try to not get hit) so i cant focus quite as well so i cant get good
Edit: nevermind, the extra defense the hat gives (enabling easy mode) helps

@@mariotheundying i havent played the game for myself yet but i do think its best to restart a run if you dont have any items in time for the second phase. try to get at least one good item to rely on for phase 2!! that will definitely save you in a pinch
if you dont have easy mode / auto fire on yet, i'd say give that a try if you get too frustrated at any point! remember that its a game and youre playing to have fun :D wishing you luck!!
As a note Flowey did attempt to flee, but Clover loaded the save and undid it. That little flower ain't going nowhere.

Martlet broke into the true lab and got a syringe full of determination, and used it to fight you. That’s why she starts melting.

Interesting how Martlet is like a combination of Sans and Papyrus in Undertale Yellow, in terms of her role in the game. The way they wrote her to incorporate traits of both Sans and Papyrus, while still letting her be her own character, is kind of brilliant.

I love how the roles of Axis and Clover are switched in genocide. Axis is now running from us and using the lid as a shield against us.
52:05 its actually not a different hp bar, you can actually whittle her down mid fight so you dont get stuck in an hour long infinite heal loop
If you didn't notice, Flowey DID try to run - you simply reloaded the save when Flowey did try to run away, effectively trapping Flowey.
Also, if you did try going to the pacifist ending area, Clover'll just say "(* There he is.)" if I recall correctly, so you didn't miss out on much text by missing that.
What was clover thinking about? Who is "he"?
@@Maannnn... Flowey told you about Asgore very early on in Geno... at least in Game Over text, anyway, plus you see a castle in the distance in said area, which I'd assume is where Asgore's throne room belongs, so it definitely has to be Asgore that Clover is referring to.
Honestly I love the endure option in the fight. It makes it feel like both Clover and Martlet are being pushed to their limits after decimating each other and either one could collapse any second. Really gives the fight a totally different feeling to the sans one

What I don't understand is why Flowey even tried to reset after saying it's a dead end, he had to have seen the fight, which means he had to have seen Martlet overdose on determination, and then Clover beats her, and he still thinks he's the most determined thing in the underground??? Floweys dumb

Fun little detail you missed: In the Steamworks, you can find Mo in a northern section the lava area, and on the genocide route Clover will pull a gun on him in the middle of his sales pitch. I didn't have the heart to find out what the 'Rob' option did, so I let him go.
Honestly one of the worst moments in my opinion, given how Mo does nothing but help you even on this run

He doesn't die, you literally do just rob him of all his g, and he leaves saying hes a goner, if not today from Clover, then some other time cuz he has no money now, also I believe if you buy everything from him in the geno route, and then rob him, you get all the G you spent basically letting you have all of Mo's stuff for free.

I’m just gonna explain the luv randomly leveling up during the axis fight. Basically, LV is how easy it is to hurt people (at least that’s how sans put it) so when axis admits that he killed one of the humans, it becomes easier for clover to bring himself to kill axis.
I feel like that moment was a bit inspired by Glitchtale.

Lv also can never go down once it goes up, this is how Clover is now, it also makes it harder for them to feel empathy or any other emotion really, I don't remember where this is from but gaining Love also physically hardens your soul, which explains the defense and hp increase, and also why Asgores trident breaks on contact with it, things harder than titanium now.

What I don’t understand is why don’t the other robots give LV. If it’s level of violence the robots not being alive/having souls shouldn’t matter.

This route with the final boss is one of the big reasons Martlet is my favorite character in this whole game. Like her death was BRUTAL and her boss fight was absolute HELL they needed to add endure AND a checkpoint at phase two. Like she’s insane but is also so adorable
An interesting thing I noticed is that in the neutral run when you are at the halfway point of the Flowey fight and reach the snowdin fakeout Martlet melts there too. I wonder if it's just a coincidence, or if Flowey actually knew how she would die if she took the determination. Either way it's a clever bit of foreshadowing.
Now that you mention that it does actually make sense if Flowey was like “Hey this is what would’ve happened to her if you kept killing by the way. Nothing would have changed…” just to screw with clover and also foreshadow her demise in genocide. Like it’s super messed up but it’d makes sense

In Undertale Yellow's Pacifist ending, you help lay the groundwork for the main Undertale game, making sure Clover's sacrifice means something.
In the Neutral ending, you get a glimpse of just how truly powerful Flowey was before Frisk fell down, even without the six souls.
In the Genocide run, you take things completely off the rails, and deviate the timeline entirely, making for a possibly terrifying future for the underground- Flowey's dead, Asgore's been killed leaving the underground leaderless, Toriel has no idea the human she tried help has gone on to leave the underground in a worse state than before, and now with the souls gone, monster kind will be even less than willing to accept mercy should Frisk fall down later...
56:30 Also, I really love this part. In Undertale's genocide run, Flowey tries to bargain for his life by appealing to you, lying he can be useful, and getting all tear-eyed. But here? Flowey knows you don't need him anymore, and he's sure not getting out alive, so in his last few moments, he tries to to spit as much venomous words at you as possible to try and demoralize you, calling you the worst- still laughing as you kill him- believing he got the last laugh.
Man, those several years of Undertale Yellow being in development truly paid off, as this is one of the best Undertale fan-games to date.
Well, Undyne would probably take over (after all that's what she do in Undertale if you kill Toriel, or if monsters don't like her humans policies and revolt against her). And we all know how much she doesn't like humans to begin with.
"Flowey tries to bargain for his life by appealing to you, lying he can be useful, and getting all tear-eyed." He's also talking to his best friend. And the idea of being killed by Chara scare him way more than being killed by Clover (or even Frisk, he doesn't care if we kill him in UT neutral route)
Flowey could have even gone through with his plan if he didn't start complaining. In every other ending Flowey talks about how there must be some way to get Clover to do what he wants, and the one ending where Clover successfully kills Asgore like Flowey wanted he blows it.
Flowey may often call you an idiot but he's not much smart either.
He simply couldn't handle being brushed off so much and just couldn't keep his mouth shut unlike Clover.
Imagine if Flowey actually just kept quiet the whole time and when he sees Clover beat Marlet he'd think "Dang... This isn't perfect but I sure as hell am not wasting this opportunity." Until the souls get free by Clover but seeing as how he would have seen Clover one shot Asgore he'd probably let it slide and just be patient for the next human since he'd probably be able to convince Clover to let him have Asgore's soul.

Like it doesn't matter how many times you can Save and Load when the enemy is quite literally impossible to beat, and Asgore is that unbeatable (allegedly)

Clover on their way to destroy all traces of Chujin's legacy: his wife is dead, his most advanced robot destroyed, and his apprentice uses his serum as a last ditch effort at stopping someone who massacred a chunk of monsterkind's population.
And this time the serum actually works and martlet becomes the pinnacle of monsterkind, the one Chujin always wanted to achieve so everyone could become a boss monster. What a wicked sense of irony for fate to do this when most of monsterkind is already dead and she will soon follow anyways
In the aftermath of the vengeance ending Toriel would try to take over and be overthrown by Undyne, establishing a totalitarian regime. She’d likely promote one of the dogs to head of the Royal Guard and Martlet would likely be revered as a hero and used for a lot of propaganda. With a sizable chunk of the Underground dead, Undyne would need to figure out how to get the economy back on track and also how to be a good leader. She’d likely recruit Alphys as some sort of Royal advisor or something which… I don’t see going well. Alphys would fold like a wet noodle any time Undyne would push back on any of her suggestions.
By the time Frisk falls, the Underground will likely be struggling economically but still be very vehemently anti human. It won’t be quite as bad as Horrortale since Clover never decimated areas like CORE or Hotland. Undyne might find out about the Amalgamates which would lead to a very interesting confrontation. Mettaton’s TV shows would likely be at least partially rebranded into propaganda. Papyrus might finally be allowed to join the Royal Guard since Undyne would have likely gone at least a little off the deep end (and the Royal Guard needs more power. With Martlet dead and Undyne as Queen, the strongest known members of the guard are RG01 and RG02). Undyne would need his strength. Sans likely remains apathetic But maybe joins the Royal guard or remains a Century to just to protect his brother.
Frisk should still be able to Save and Load but they’ll almost certainly have to kill a lot of monsters their first go around. Toriel would be very clingy and even harder to get past than normal, and the monsters would all try very hard to kill Frisk. Hell, maybe Frisk would just stay with Toriel.
Then Frisk falls and Toriel is desperate to keep them with her to prevent both her being ridiculed more and another possible mass murderer to get out there but mainly to keep them safe from the revenge hungry Undyne who wants just one soul for now to go to the surface and kill Clover as revenge
Assuming they push forward, Snowdin would likely be harder than normal with more aggressive monsters. Waterfall might actually be easier because even though monsters would be more aggressive, Undyne would be in the castle. Of course there’s also the possibility of Undyne just leaving the castle and hunting you down as soon as she learns about you.
I'd imagine that sans wouldn't make his promise, and papyrus might end up as part of the royal guard (Due to both undyne and Martlets positions being open). Undyne might not have time to get to know papyrus as well due to being queen?
I'd imagine some of Chujin's ideas would be checked out too, so new models of axis(or Axis inspired drones) and maybe some investigation into the boss monster serum?
The feisty four are alive, and might play a role in the story, potentially as a waterfall boss?
A pacifist run would be… really difficult and probably entail Frisk living as a peaceful fugitive in the Underground for years before the monsters come to terms with the fact that Frisk isn’t as bad as Clover. Ironically Frisk would probably have to live in the areas Clover wiped out since that’s where there wouldn’t be any monsters to threaten them. But eventually I’m sure Frisk could make peace. With no other Souls though… Frisk probably just lives in the Underground until they die of old age and give up their Soul to Undyne to be used to break the barrier. And who knows what happens from there?
As a side note, if Chara ever wakes up or if Frisk does Genocide, Chara will be fucking *furious* to learn some human killed their best friend. Geno Frisk in this timeline would tear the Underground to shreds even more aggressively than normal (since there’s a much stronger self defense argument) and then probably hold off on wiping out humanity until they get the pleasure of killing Clover with their own hands. And since it took Clover until LV 20 to match a LV1 Frisk’s Determination? in contrast to this in the pacifist ending true Justice ending It really does make clovers character more compelling, and it makes Pacifist ending so much more bittersweet, knowing that despite all the horrifying things Clover has been through, clover still chose to be kind, befriend monsters along the way and ultimately give up life for the future of monsterkind.

I love how the genocide route is not a chara possession or whatever. It truly is all clover's fault, he is completely aware and responsible for his actions. It truly is all about his warped sense of justice pushing him to commit atrocities.
I love how the developer's properly made "justice" the main theme. In Undertale, the main theme was kindness, it was all about the importance of kindness and forgiveness. How being kind can allow us to grow, and how violence and aggression is never the answer to our problems, and how violence only hurts our relationships with others and distances us from the world.
I love how undertale yellow properly distinguishes itself from undertale, by instead exploring the idea of justice, instead of just focusing on kindness.
This game shows the two sides of humanity's idea of "justice". On one hand, justice can be beautiful, it can give proper peace to those that suffered. In the pacifist route, clover's strong and noble sense of justice allows him to realize that the one's who have truly suffered have been the monster's all along, and how he has misjudged humanity. His sense of justice allows him to take the humble decision to sacrifice himself. Even if it wasn't the sense decision, and even if it wasn't really the true solution to the problem, he at least acted on a noble sense of justice. It wasn't necessarily the best decision, but it was justice, and that's what clover cares about.
On the other hand, justice can be reckless and destructive. Throughout the genocide route, clover is acting on his warped sense of justice. In his mind, all of monsterkind deserves to pay for what they did to those 5 children's. His warped sense of justice convinces him that an entire race needs to be wiped off the face of the earth, instead of considering that each monster is an individual, and that not everyone is responsible for the actions of a few. Even flowey mentions it, clover is wasting his time instead of focusing on asgore, he really is just killing all those monsters to satisfy some sadistic sense of justice.
It's easy to view as clover as ignorant and insane during the genocide route. But, think about, how often do we fall prey to the same fallacy? How often have you misjudged an entire group of people based on the actions of a few? It's so easy to generalize, we all do it, without even thinking about it. Clover's as human as you, with all his flaws. If you were pushed by the same circumstances, you might do the same. This is why it's important to have a strong sense of justice, in order to judge our situations objectively and not let our emotions get the best of us.
I would love to see fangames explore each all the other souls and their attributes, and explore the good and bad sides of them.
How patience can be good and wonderful, but can sometimes be pushed too far and turn into inaction or passiveness.
How bravery is important, but sometimes self-destructive and impulsive when pushed too far.
How perseverance is commendable, but how it's also important to sometimes back down and recognize when a challenge is just too big.

1) Chara doesnt possess anyone, Clover genocide is clover fault, so frisk genocide is frisk fault, not chara. There are a lot of videos and posts about that, so not gonna explain it.
2) UTY has a theme of justice, but not reg UT. Kindness is the theme of Undertale Green, Which also has a demo, and ig it will be done eventually (unless if the devs cancelled, which i find very unlikely). Reg undertale has the theme of determination, which says a lot "stay determined" or "fills with determination"
You kinda missed one point. Clover were killing only monsters that attacked (initiated fight) first - and only exception I remember were RG member (which is basically military)
@@bl4me_me Thanks for clarifying that. I guess the idea of chara possesing frisk is something I've just seen in a lot of fan conent, specially things about the sans fight. If that's not the case, then what pushes Kris to kill everyone in the underground then?
Also, just to mention, while it is true that undertale has a theme of determination, the thing that really struck with me the most were its themes of forgiveness and kindness. After finishing undertale, I didn't really leave with the feeling of "I gotta be more determined..."
Instead, I left with the feeling of "damn, I gotta be nicer to people". It cemented the idea that violence and revenge are never the answer, and that little idea has become a core part of my life philosophy since then. So yeah, even though the main theme is determination, I would say the main emotional focus is that idea of forgiveness and kindness.
@@bl4me_me "1)" is slightly incorrect. Frisk is made explicitly different from the player at the end of the pacifist route. They could be the one who is auto attacking during the Sans and Asgore genocide route but idk, that's probably Chara. Chara is also implied to be talking to the player at the end of the genocide route but that's not confirmed.
Therefore, Clover is complicit and even assisting in furthering the UTY genocide route while Frisk is most likely just a puppet in UT's genocide route.
also yeah i'd argue UNDERTALE's main theme is about, well, determination, as in every route it's always about the will to keep going, it just takes a path down murderous rampage or wanting to see the best outcome for everyone
@@fluboxer Clover still hunts down every single monster in every room in order to do genocide, which is in fact very abnormal. If clover were to run straight through the underground like a normal person, they would get neutral.
If you managed to kill Martlet and if she is Berdlys mother, then you've made him an orphan.
I mean, the timeline lines more up to her being an aunt or big sister, Yellow collapsed the timeline a lot and takes place like a year before Undertale. Berdly would be equal age to Monster Kid, so would already be born, and Martlet clearly doesn't have a child.
I know it won't happen, but I hope Deltarune has Berdly off-handedly mention an Aunt Martlet in a later chapter. 😆

@@Kiwi19865 Same, it's such an amazing and faithful fan game, the best I've seen. The caveat for why it won't be canon is lore doesn't add up; which makes sense, Yellow started development far before we understood Undertale's lore as well as we do now.
Flowey shouldn't exist /quite/ yet cause Asgore implies in his fight that all the humans could save and load by themselves, and IIRC Toby confirmed this in the localization book, as well as the fact that Asgore killed all the other humans himself.

When I played genocide route myself and started sharing screen at the boss battle to my friend who hasn't played this fangame, he just said "Berdly's mom got angry".

Congrats on beating Genocide. Martlet's fight used to be much harder, the attacks were harder, I don't believe there was a checkpoint for her fight (so you had to sit through the cutscene everytime) & endure did nothing in phase 2. So she had to be nerfed.
Also there is one alternate ending you can get if you kill Ceroba in pacifist, probably not worth a whole video on it's own, but if you do a secrets video or something you could probably fit it into that.
There's two checkpoints for Martlet before the update, one after dying in the first half of the fight (Martlet with Armor) which just skips the animation and goes straight to Martlet cry while the other skips the memory cutscenes after you take away her armor and choose retry
However if at any point you picked up continue then you'd restart it completely, even the dialogue before that from Clover and make both animations appear. They are pretty fast to skip though but still
I beat her in 1.0, the checkpoint was already there. I didn't notice the attacks being particularly different although admittedly I didn't watch the whole fight in the video. Endure definitely makes the fight easier but it's balanced a bit because you have to survive more attacks since you give up on 40~60 damage per turn

yeah i don't even know where to begin describing this episode lol. Clover gaining like 7 levels of LOVE against Axis was insane, I personally think it's because he just got so unbelievably mad that he just wanted Axis gone and so he obliterated him. Now Martlet... what a fight. I find this Genocide route to be way more heart wrenching than I do for normal Undertale, so even if I had the heart to do this route I'm not sure if I'd be able to win, so congrats Merg! That death was absolutely brutal tho she didn't deserve that :( Flowey actually DID try and run, but Clover wanted him gone, and that's why he resorted to saying that before he died. Props to Flowey though for managing to die laughing like that after witnessing the whole Zenith Martlet fight. Thanks for covering these 3 routes Merg, there's actually a 4th one too, but I'm pretty sure a bunch of comments have already been made about it. Flowey's insane speech is one of my favorite parts of this route and the game in general, he knows undertale better than anyone, he knows literally nothing clover did mattered or ever will, their fate is literally set in stone by canon, it's satisfying but might as well have been a dream by just how much it will be invalidated
If you were curious on why you gain so much LV at the last part of the axis fight, here's why:
LV is defined as how easy it is for you to kill someone. This is why your LV goes up as you kill monsters. It's also why this happens when you fight Axis. They just admitted they killed a human. Which makes it extremely easy for Clover to kill Axis.
Great attention to detail from the developers. Also yes I got this from a comment of one of Shayys videos.
Edit: Also, martlet injects herself with determination. This why she went into the true lab telling herself that humans were the bad guy.
LV goes up when you gain enough exp (which litterally means execution points). It doesn't just go up for no reason.

The reason it go's up with execution points is because, as sans says, the more you kill, the easier it is to kill others. LV doesn't only have to go up with exp. That's just one simpler way it happens. But when your filled with so much hatred, you can bring yourself to harm others very easily.

I think I actually understand why the genocide path is so different from what you might expect a fanmade prequel to undertale to be, because in undertale nobody considers it to be the canon route the player takes and therefore the timeline doesn't really exist, and therefore it may technically be consider non-canon, so the ending makes sense for clover to do what they did.
Edit: I was gonna connect the genocide route here to undertale but I realized It didn't hold water, so I still hope merg does the alternative pacifist ending, it would be a great opportunity for him wrap up this series on a higher note, and get some of those other side quests he missed done.
Toby fox said that whatever you did in your playthrough is canon, so if you did geno then it canonically happened, if you didnt do geno then it isnt canon, it just depends on what you did, the UTY cant just make your undertale geno route unhappen, tho that doesnt make sense anyways

@@mariotheundying The Genocide route in Yellow is non-canon to Undertale, while the Pacifist/Aborted Pacifist Routes are. Genocide in Yellow is quite literally breaking out of an endless cycle of death that Flowey forced you into and doing your own thing.

It makes it feel like all of that did happen before undertale. Connecting both endings to undertale would've been perfect. Missed opportunity, it really is a shame.

Sans is only easy now that everyone has it memorized, but when compared to playing it for the first time, I’d say Sans is still more difficult, especially after they made Marlet easier
hmm even still I'd call Sans easier, because of the fact his attacks can be memorized. None of his attacks 'aim' at you, so to speak, so muscle memory to avoid them will come naturally. And at the end of the day, the Sans fight is ultimately a platformer.
Martlet here meanwhile, is designed around that finicky dodge mechanic. Many of her attacks dynamically aim for your soul, meaning no explicitly correct movements for any given attack, you just have to wing it. And of course the fact that her fight is just straight bullet hell. Mess up the dodge even a little and woops, there goes a chunk of health.
Eh I guess this is just my opinion, but frankly with my first attempt at Undertale genocide Undyne gave me more trouble than Sans ever did.
Also maybe a little peeved by the fact I preferred to do the whole run over to get the gold bandanna specifically for Martlet rather than keep slamming my head against it.
@@dovahkat9635I agree too. Sans, while reasonably difficult, still has more dodging room and less about reaction time. Martlet’s claw attack requires quick reaction, and that’s not including all of the feathers/bullets running through the screen at any given moment, leaving less “safe” space for the player to go through. Martlets fight is definitely much more difficult. And just like you pointed out, martlets attacks actively aim for your heart and thus in any given run are going to change (some of her attacks are always the same, but not all of them), meanwhile with sans his attacks will be the same no matter what. Both are still very cool though!
With sans, the attacks are hard but simple and if you get hit you know it's your own fault. With Marlet, it feels like there is just tons of stuff thrown at one, memorizing is far harder
Huh, these are some interesting takes, maybe it’s partially because I wasn’t as good back then, but it only took me an hour to beat Marlet before they nerfed her, but I think I remember it taking me longer to beat Sans back when I first fought him… But I also think Undertale Yellow purposely tried to base the difficulty off of Undertale, Ceroba being Undyne the Undying difficulty, and Marlet being Sans difficulty

It’s called “Flawed Pacifist”, and all you have to do is make it to the Pacifist Ceroba fight, and then at the end, instead of sparing her, honor her request to see her husband again. There’s extra cutscenes, extra dialogue, and actual gameplay after the fight instead of just a “Nope, you can’t play anymore. Uh uh. Goodbye.” from Flowey like you usually get.

I genuinely think that Alphys is a Penilla interested in science lol. The genocide ending was BRUTAL. Clover is literally a super saiyan in this fangame lol. The Martlet fight was insane! If the blue soul was still there, I wonder how the serum Chujin made from the blue soul worked. Maybe it took some of the power of the soul to make a serum. And for the serum Martlet used, it possibly could’ve been the bravery or patience soul used to make it. But I’m not sure. Anyways awesome video! Very cool Merg :)

I like to think that in either routes, the player helps guide Clover to two lines of thought- justice and vengeance. Through acts of mercy, clover realizes all the pain the monsters suffered. In the genocide, clovers darkest desires are fulfilled, to kill all monsters and avenge the fallen humans. Both are the same person, I wouldn’t say the pacifist or genocide is the “true” Clover. Just them being guided down different paths.
I love how the only hint towards zenith martlets boss fight, is a neutral run where she throws the same syringe away in this boss fight. Really clever

And if so, would it be enough to take RESET from a LV 1 Frisk? Because Frisk just had enough Determination inherently (Because of the Red Soul) to take RESET from Flowey just by falling, yet for Clover, it took getting to LV 19. (As seen by them LOADING during the Martlet fight).
Although I suppose the more important question is this; Can Clover at LV 20 have RESET priority over Frisk at LV 1?

Martlet injected herself with integrity, it’s why her color theme turns blue, the box your soul enters when you are dodging attacks is blue, and your options are colored blue. The integrity soul was the soul that fell before justice, and axis killed them. When martlet injected herself with integrity, it has the same effect as injecting a monster with determination, they melt. Determination is faster, but it still occurs.
She injected herself with some determination she stolen from Alphys lab.

Theory: I think Axis’ death is meant to mirror the integrity soul’s death when Axis blasted her to death, since we know a vague idea of how she looked when she died from a fun event for the pillars where it shows her body stretched out and her face gone (we don't know how her blown off face actually looks like cuz that chunk of the pillar fell off). Now look at Axis, face is complelety gone and split in two.
Sorry that I couldnt explain it better but that's the best I can do, TLDR: Axis’ corpse mirrors the integrity soul’s corpse when he blasted her face (it's karmic in a gruesome sense)

There’s a neat detail on the encounter with Flowey that signifies that Clover is the one shooting Flowey and not anyone else/Flowey shooting himself. If you get the nail bullets for your gun, it shows the nail bullets shooting at Flowey instead of the Friendliness Pellets. this game has so many cool details!
