  • Demolition of the former Salt Lake City International Airport facilities continues to move forward on schedule to make way for building Phase II of The New SLC Redevelopment Program. A major milestone in the demolition occurred on Feb. 15, 2021, when what is known as the “Delta Tower” came down.
The tower was originally built around 1989-90 for Delta Air Lines to direct
aircraft to their gates after the FAA hands over the planes from their purview. The tower, which stood at 84 feet high, continued to operate until The New SLC opened on Sept. 15, 2020, and the replacement Delta tower became operational.

There she goes…. I heard the “world” from the old airport is going to re-appear in the upcoming build on the B concourse. That’s exciting! I have so many memories of that world map growing up in Utah!

Old airport better. I really wish that the new airport was a lot like the old one. The old airport was super cozy. The new airport is too modern. Which is coming from me and that's is a weird thing to say.

    SLC airport: exists
CAT Excavators: *I'm about to end this man's whole career*
All jokes aside though it's sad seeing the DAL Tower getting demolished
