We are back in the holy city of VARANASI in INDIA! There is a TON of Indian STREET FOOD in this city, with mostly vegetarian options. In our first episode, we couldn’t eat everything on our list, so we decided to make another delicious episode.
We started our day down at the ghats of the River Ganga and walked into the ancient city to find Lakshmi Chai Wala, a hidden gem for breakfast! These guys are making everything over charcoal! We ordered chai in claypots (10 INR / $0.14 USD), stuffed toast (40 INR / $0.55 USD), bread with butter and sugar (30 INR / $0.42 USD) and Malai toast (60 INR / $0.83 USD). The food was made fresh to order, everyone was friendly, and you can’t beat the atmosphere next to an authentic temple.
Next, we visited a neighbourhood that is renown for making traditional Indian sari, in particular, Varanasi saris. The neighbourhood is called Lallapura and the factory we visited was over 200 years old. Watching the process was quite interesting and the fabrics used to create the saris are so colourful!
It was time for lunch and went visited a nearby restaurant that is famous for Benares style vegetarian thali. Their specialty is Baati Chokha - whole wheat balls stuffed with vegetarian ingredients, traditionally cooked over cow dung and served with Chokha. The meal was delicious and affordable (275 INR / $3.81 USD for each thali) and the restaurant also features a small museum of sari making.
We wanted to sample more Varanasi chaats, and visited a famous local joint called Deena Chaat Bhandar. We ordered aloo tikki and samosa chaat (35 INR / $0.48 USD per chaat). The sun was starting to go down and there is one activity that should not be missed during a trip to Varanasi: the Ganga Aarti!
We arrived at the Dashashwamedh Ghat early to get seated before the crowds arrive. The Ganga Aarti is a daily offering for the holy River Ganga and a beautiful sight, with music, dance and fire. The Aarti starts between 6:30PM and 7:00PM, however the ghat is open all of the time.
To end our night and series in India, we decided to have a classic street food / breath freshener: paan. The vendor mixes tons of unique ingredients together on a betel leaf to create a pocket bursting with flavour and freshness. We then said goodbye to our good friend Gaurav of SWAD Official. We would like to thank him for creating this Indian Street Food series with us. We had a blast!

Hello Luke hello Sabrina wow! India is so beautiful. The people are so friendly rich with cultures and manners.
Heyy!!!Im from Varanasi...Welcome to our holy place...
Go Pakistan
I have reported your channel you wanna be youtuber for that tittld you used
Making those sari’s was fascinating even though it was my machines. Still takes a lot of work changing the threads! Amazing.
Yes it was fascinating to watch!
You have to come to kanchipuram south of india ..it is main hub of beautiful sarees

Thanks for coming Luke and Sabrina. It was amazing to host you both and show you my beautiful country. :)
Dude you looked hungry there a while, did Luke swallow the whole plate?:p
It's crazy how deep you're going into Indian food. I love it! I love that you're not just eating surface level stuff like butter chicken
just like you dont eat coal or drink petrol, you dont have to eat cowdung too... your caption is little bit confusing for others...

@Kim Jong-un you poor guy may God bless you 🙃
@Kim Jong-un Dude Indians are religious people not all of them are but most of them. Not everyone is eating this. It's someone's belief. Just like a vegetarian doesn't call you a killer; you should also have an open mind and keep spreading love. Even if you don't like India please at least visit once in your lifetime it's worth it. You're always welcome.
I'll not comment after this.
Kha pe ki ho banaras me didi
Great job! I always knew I wanted to go to India. This gives me more motivation. I like what you said about helping out, that's important.
Thanks Wes! Hope you can visit some day its an incredible place!

Hi Luke , please don't call it COW DUNG BAATI it sounds as it is made by cow dung 🙂👍,it's made from wheat flour and made on fire produce by the fuel source made by cow dung .

Ohhhh, I almost threw up reading his title
Don't you find it stupid, calling it cow dung bati ..... if it was cooked by wood fire then would he call it wood bati.
It was for clickbait

I have to say the Indian series was absolutely brilliant but Varansanai excuse spelling was my favorite 👍💕

Excellant vdo luke and sabrina...the way you present it is awsome.my favrt channel...keep going...all the love from India...😍🥰
Interesting, that's the first time I've seen charcoal-toasted bread.
Its so good!
The smockyness and the simplicity is the main flavour
Love Indian series
Every thing is biodegradable 🤣🤣🤣even we recycle cow dung too
Luke, you had me in fits at 13:00. I can't be the only one that heard that and laughed out for real😂
yeah it does sound funny , but thing is the way baati is eaten is we mash it up and put in in dal, scoop up and eat it so what he did was pretty accurate just the other way around...
Great tour. I always get this sentimental feeling when you announce its your last food taste and you're wrapping up the tour for a particular country. Its as if I am leaving too. I often think of the people you would have interacted with, the places you would have visited and will be leaving behind.. and life will go on...
It was definitely a little sad! But we have a good series from Indonesia coming soon!
Looking forward to his Indonesia episodes 😁😁👍
We can all create our own adventures by traveling there someday! LIke I am :)
Ohh I am in love with your filming... You depecited every thing so beautifully... We have business of Saare and glad how you show these...and Laxmi chai wala wow 😊😊😊☕☕
I've said it before. I'll say it again. You guys just make the best videos. We have quite a diverse food culture in Australia and Canadians are well liked. That sounds like a couple of good reasons to come and make a series here :) Stay safe and thanks again for such enjoyable and entertaining videos.
Haha thanks David we will make it down someday!
Great to see you soaked in Indian tradition.

Awesome! 🤩🤩
Dude, don't be ignorant, change this to a more apt title. Baati’s are cooked over a cow dung cake as fuel.
What's baati it's litti
it's directly in contact with the dung... what're you talking about...
Ignorance! I blame the Indians as well for allowing it. Sad. They see a non Indian, and I think they think they are honoured to serve them. Like what. Come to Durban, South Africa, it will b a different experience. Come through! We will show u the evolution. We also speak perfect English, firs language, so u don’t have to dull it down when u speak! I’d love to see that! Imagine, Indian vendors and restaurant owners having a proper conversation as opposed to nodding and smiling.
@@PrativaGovender Why are you looking down on Our culture? *Athiti Devo Bhav* (Guest is God) is what Indian Culture follows. It's a proud feeling when you serve food to your Guest, we aren't feeling inferior. We just want them to have a memorable experience.
Japanese bow down a lot while speaking, everyone calls them polite but if Indians nods and wobbles while speaking, it becomes a problem for everyone.
Every culture is different. Your South African culture is beautiful and our Indian culture is beautiful as well. English isn't our first language. We have many languages of our own. For God Sake, stop putting down other cultures and take your Superiority complex somewhere else.
@@ranchhoddas7353 I have every right to express that. You are welcome to your opinion. I do not have a superiority complex, I have seen too much injustice in my life ,so I speak from my experience, my vantage point.
varanasi ❤️ my home 🌼

Yes i am still watching your videos. Nothing like a dung cooked meal, haha. That toast and chai looks great, tasty. Very interesting sari production, thank you Luke and Sabrina
Luke, very nice food explored at Kashi, & good information shared!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks nice vid & Gaurav is a good host :)
Beautiful place very big country friendly place fresh foods healthy foods thank you for sharing your beautiful healthy foods
Why would a talented presenter like you feel tempted to use CLICKBAIT? People will take this title in a very negative way. Shame.
Cow dung is used as fuel they are not eating cow dung smh
But they did eat dung, it's burned and then the food is tossed in the ashes.
If you watch it they say "the cow dung is what gives the dish its flavour"
@@no_mnom Fuel type does render itself to the flavour profile. e.g. 'Wood' fired pizzas, 'Charcoal' grilled chicken etc.
@@no_mnom lmao you aren't indian you won't understand what I'm trying to say.
@@no_mnom ruclips.net/video/ASoXPy8RWlQ/видео.html
@@no_mnom you can eat the whole cow, sheep, pig including their intestines, liver where the digestive fluids are formed and criticizing the dung which is nothing else then a decompsed dried grass used as fuel.
😂😂😂
Double standards😂😂
Btw not asking you to eat that its totally up to u😁
You can't cook a bati on charcoal
It won't cook it evenly
The dried cow dunk distributes the heat evenly
fyi - The dried cow dunk is not shit anymore its mostly the fibers....
Quality content ... I like it ..its amazing
Thanks!!

I love your food adventures. Your visit to Varanasi was very enjoyable. I would like to know more about the river worship ceremony. KUTGW. Thanks so much for the joy you bring.
Sir, you can search on RUclips by 'worshipping ceremony in Varanasi Ganga ghat" ..you will know a lot.
When a cow eats what it is supposed to eat (unlike corn in the US), the cow dung essentially is undigested plant material which when dried up is almost like a fire made of twigs and dried leaves,
Yes cow can digest cellulose and that undigested and digested mixture when dried....burns more and slowly
Wow i ve been waiting for a new vid thks a lot :)
Hope you enjoyed it :)

The toast with Malai & sugar... BLESS YOU FOR BRINGING IT BACK... Haven't even heard it in 40 years, let alone eat it... Was my FAV FOOD when I was growing up. The malai was fro the milk of the cows from my dad's friend's personal cows. He had 2 cows to nourish his family. The family moved out, & the empty nesters did not want to part with their cows & had milk to spare. That is where we got the milk daily. The Malai was THICK & DELICIOUS
so. good.
